We Stayed here both at the start and end of our Irish trip This is a lovely hotel, with a relaxed vibe, lots of spaces to sit and pass the time with a book , newspaper, glass wine or a coffee, with pleasant and helpful staff. It was busy with both visitors and locals alike . Sport on telly but didn't dominate the public spaces. Food was good for breakfast snacks and dinner. We had a room overlooking the lagoon and then Rosscarbery bay, both views were beautiful. We will stay here again happily Emma Collapse

We checked in for 2 nights mid week with our children the hotel staff were all very nice mannerly people the front desk reception were very helpful made sure all requests were met The room 141 was spacious the view was of a grave yard but the children were intrigued by it full of wonder not a bad thing at all the beds were comfy we all slept well after a busy few days in west cork the shower was amazing and powerful The restaurant was nice spacious menu was good plenty of choice will cater to many vegan included which is a bonus in my eyes always the restaurant atmosphere was relaxed kid friendly Same for breakfast good selection The kids club was a brilliant service again very friendly people the kids enjoyed themselves The leisure centre staff again were great changing rooms for women were nice wasn't too sure on the floor thought it looks like it might be slippery with kids especially also I wasn't too keen on the pool does look a bit on the mouldy dated side the baby pool did not look that clean the water was quite cold too but I see there is renovations going on I am sure the pool it's self is on will be done too We enjoyed our few days away in the Celtic ross a nice spot for family get aways i would recommend it Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during our CIE tour. This is not a 4 star hotel 2.5 maybe. There is no AC and rooms need updating. The hotel is located a distance form Kinsale. There is not much near the hotel. We ate two meals with the tour group at the hotel. The food was ok, but the first night the service was poor. Server wouldn't get us a drink we had to go and wait at the crowded bar to get a drink for dinner. They have a small bar that is crowded and slow to get service. The first day there the bar tenders wouldn't even make eye contact with your. If you are looking for a family vacation near the sea, this is the place. The front desk stay was great. Friendly and helpful Colman gave us a tour and provided plenty of history and info. Collapse

Just home from an absolutely fabulous weekend of wildlife watching based at the Celtic Ross Hotel, organised by Calvin Jones of Irelands Wildlife, with a group of dear lifelong friends, Adair, Paddy, Donal, Rita and my good lady wife Cora. Calvin's encyclopaedic knowledge of the Local Wildlife was, simply put, amazing, and his enthusiasm knew no bounds to ensure we all got the maximum from the weekend. The highlight of the weekend was the four hour whale watching trip on the Holly Jo, skippered by Colin, who also had a great sense of what was available to see and where. His knowledge of seabirds is vast, and he was able to show us loads of firsts for me, shearwaters, Greater, Sutty, and Manx, petrels various flavour of, gannets, fulmars, gulls.... the list goes on and on. My friend Paddy compiled a list which Calvin will review and edit and we will publish shortly. The hotel was great, ideally located and the staff were very good, and the facilities excellent, apart from a temporary hiccup in the supply of wine for our meal. Thanks also to Padraig Wholley from the Irish Whale and Dolphin group for meeting us this morning and showing us samples of whale baleen plates, teeth, jawbones and ribs from the cetaceans which can be seen locally. It was also great to meet new friends and wildlife enthusiasts, Ronan and Nicola, Sam and Ruth, Tara, Deirdre and Adam. I now have over 400 images to edit and will publish these shortly via my various websites etc. Watch this space. The weather was perfect, Colin must have a good contact in Met Eireann, and the trip renewed my memories of West Cork from my childhood holidays. Calvin also took us on a nature walk in The Warren opposite the hotel last night, and even discovered 2 otters in the estuary by the light of the moon last night. This morning he led us through a nearby forest where we heard, but failed to see, a lot of different birds. Marks out of 10 for the weekend - 478!! Would I recommend it? Yes, absolutely. Would I go again to one of Calvins weekends? Yes, absolutely. Collapse
