Stayed in this complex for a week. Fantastic value for money. Appartments was very well equipped for self catering. The maids were in every second day. Staff were pleasant and helpful, we had no complaints at all. Close to supermarket and local bars although a hill to climb back up should you venture to the beautiful beach. Visit the sizzling pig bar great homemade chips and a great welcome from the locals. Collapse

This is an honest review from a travel agent. The accommodation is clean and basic, has all you need for a self catering holiday. We stayed in the Lake which was really nice. The bedrooms were a little small but adequate for your needs. Plenty of drawers and hanging space. No air-con but had a ceiling fan which was fine when we went 12-19th March. We had an oven and a microwave and a full size fridge. They did smell a little musty but opened the windows and doors for a while and was fine. The pool areas were very clean. Nice bar area and Barbara was lovely, very friendly. Pools were very cold so only got in once. There is a supermarket 5 minutes walk from the complex and 20 minutes to the beach and town. It is set on a fairly steep hill so not good for anyone with walking difficulties. There is a little train that goes from reception areas to town, beach and shopping centre for 2 euros each way, cabs from town are only 3 euro. Some other guests were on all inclusive and they said the food was ok but not great. I would definitely return to this property Collapse
Cheap and Cheerful

I have just returned from spending 1 week all inclusive at this resort. Delayed at first due to bad snowy weather in the UK but thankfully I made it there. It was dark when I arrived so I couldn't really get a feel for the place till the following morning. I didn't need to speak with the reception staff much during my stay but when I did they were courteous and pleasant. All the waiting staff in the Mirador restaurant were lovely and full of smiles. They were always helpful and it didn't take long for them to know what my tipple was so I didn't even need to ask by the 3rd day! Poolside was clean as was the sun loungers and the pools themselves. Every evening the pool guy came round to clean and straighten the loungers keeping the place looking tidy. My villa was fine if a little surface clean only. There was dust under the bed, on the window sills and on the window frames but generally it was clean and serviceable. Some people I met were self catering and had some uninvited guests, cockroaches, but you must remember to clean away every scrap of food in countries like this or you will get extra guests!! Leave no spillages!! All inclusive food was OK but then again I didn't pay for 5 star Michelin dining. If I come again I would go either self catering or half board, no need to have all inclusive unless you intend on eating and drinking your body weight in food and drink everyday. It was a nice quiet area away from the main resort but I'm guessing in the height of the summer it would be more noisy with lots of kids running around. More a family place rather than a stag/hen bolt hole. The whole place seemed a little tired and in need of more than a lick of paint. That said, I was after a week in the sun doing nothing and not having to bother about food or shopping or anything so if that's what your after then this place will deliver. If you want something a little more high end and luxurious you will be very disappointed. Just remember what you paid for this place, it's cheap and cheerful and that's what you get. Collapse

Reading the reviews on here we was absolutely dreading stay at Castillo Beach but I can safely say the reviews are complete nonsense it was absolutely fine!! Castillo Beach is a really big complex with lots of bungalows. The pools are lovely but very cold! We went to 3 different pools on the complex all really well kept with lifeguards and sunbeds. The apartments are very clean and spacious and have everything you need during your stay. The resort is located up the hill, it is quite steep but the cab back up is between 2-4 euros but the walk really isn't that bad! There is also a train that takes you up and down but it does work out cheaper to get a cab :) If you are travelling in the Winter months please bring warm clothes, my god was it cold at night and there is no heating so we were absolutely freezing. It was absolutely boiling in the day but we were shivering in bed of a night time!! There are supermarkets, restaurants and bars minutes walk away but there is a lot more as you get closer to the beach (around 15 minutes) One thing we would say is there isn't a lot to do, it didn't really bother us as it was a family holiday but aside from beach, pool and mini golf there wasn't a lot more to offer when we went in February. We did take a day trip to Oasis Park and I would NOT recommend this!!!! We got the free bus there at 9am and only realised when we arrived that there was only one bus home at 5:30pm. This was honestly the longest day of our lives and theres only so much to see. You could see the whole thing in about 3 hours so I would recommend paying for transport so you don't waste a whole day there. One really good thing is that you can buy food bags to feed the animals which is great fun, but this is the only thing worth doing. Castillo beach is close to the airport and I highly reccommend using Zip Transfers to pick you up, very cheap and private transfer. Although planes do go past this does not make any impact on the holiday. I did see a few people moan on here and it really is not an issue when you are there. The area is really nice, restaurants etc are reasonably priced. There is a market on a Tuesday and Saturday with all the usual knock off stuff so it's really good for a look around. All in all we really enjoyed are stay and could not find a single fault with our holiday. For the price we paid this excelled our expectations and from our experience I am shocked by some of the reviews on here! Would defo go back :) Collapse

This was a CHEAP winter sun holiday. We’re an active family (my husband and I met whilst travelling). We therefore didn’t care what the apartment was like, as we knew we wouldn’t spend much time in it!! We knew for the money we’d paid, it wouldn’t be amazing. I was actually pleasantly surprised, probably the best equipped kitchen in a self catering apartment I’ve ever stayed in (oven, hob and microwave). It also had hairdryer, iron etc. The TV was old and tiny, but do you really go on holiday to watch TV!? If you’re looking for a luxury family holiday, then don’t stay here!! It’s not luxury, it’s basic (hence the price). The pool area is lovely, unfortunately the evenings were cold, so the pool was freezing, but that’s the downside of a winter sun holiday. Didn’t stop my 4 year old from playing in the baby pool, although it took a while to warm her up after! There is a nice area of shops and restaurants just a short walk (approx 5mins) away. We found the food in this area was much nicer and more reasonably priced than the main town. It was approximately a 15-20min walk to the main town and beach. There is a small train that can take you back and forth if you don’t fancy the walk. The walk back is all up hill, so we sometimes caught the train back. There is a market twice a week at the bottom of the hill, about 10min walk. Pretty good for any souvenirs you may want. All in all we loved our week away and would stay here again. Collapse
