We stayed at Castillo last year there are 5 parks on the complex. We were on Lake park last year and requested it again with the same bungalow. But this year we were on Vista park which was very dated it started when I saw the front door was held together by a piece of timber screwed to the bottom. When I booked it as a Christmas present for my wife the details stated a hairdryer and toaster but there was not. The mattress on my bed was too large for the base and the sheet too small for the mattress. The mattress on my wife`s bed was lumpy worn out and creaked every time she moved. Every time we got clothes out of the wardrobe they felt damp and cold. The gardens around the bungalows were untidy and covered in weeds. Having been to the Canaries many times this was the worst by far. I wouldn't recommend this complex to my worst enemy. Collapse

We went to Castillo Beach Bungalows for a long weekend, found the hotel to be adequate, excellent landscaping, beautiful pools, food was editable, only wish that they had an outside bar, bar staff wonderfully friendly and helpful. Hotel is up the hill from the town, but pleasant stroll and some great bars in which to break the journey back up the hill. All in all, loved it and can't wait to go back. Collapse

we booked these bungalows first week jan 2017. we have stayed in same area before in different accomodation. the bungalows have excellent self catering facilities. full size cooker fridge microwave iron ,. clean towels and sheets regularly changed. hot water all the time . very clean when we arrived. tv with 2 english channels challenge and news. little patio outside with table and chairs. nice swimming pool area. location is on chipmunk hill the last of the holiday rentals on hill. 5 mins downhill to spanish supermarket and english supermarket and also 20 bars and restaurants then a 15 min walk back uphill, town centre is about 20-30 mins walk but coming back up hill is a bit of a struggle. wally trolley from anywhere in town is 2 euros and drops you off outside bungalows. we got taxi from airport 14 euros and we got a bus back to airport at end of hols for 1.4 euros Collapse

After reading some of the reviews on here we were really worried when we left home, so much so that we had already decided if it was as bad as all that we would cut our losses and go stay somewhere else. First off the resort is only fifteen mins from the airport so best to get a taxi or use the excellent public transport busses, We waited on a pre booked tx bus for an hour waiting for other passengers for a fifteen minute journey. Pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a large proffesional looking reception building, everything went smoothly and we were given a little map to find our apartment. This is actually quite a large complex with the bungallows split into five areas, we were in park. Each area has its own pool area. We had what I would describe as an average apt for the complex, had a little porch area with a table and chairs, a good sized living room with pull out sofa, tv which gets sky news, a nice little kitchen with combi microwave oven and two ring hob, large bedroom with two single beds (which of course can be pulled together) and a bath and shower. At night we found the apts to be very quiet and were hardly ever woken up by people coming in.We could only get free wi-fi in reception not the apt, I know this will matter to some. There have been lots of reports on here about how bad the apts are, dated dirty etc. Ours was dated but everything worked as it should, it was very clean and for us it was a great base to get out and about. The cleaners came in twice during our week and couldn't be faulted. Only thing that lets apts down was the communal gravel areas around the complex, lots of weeds fag ends etc, could so easily be sorted out by the gardener and would really improve the appearance of the place. We were self catering and managed some great meals in. On that subject I see a lot of the complaints are about the food and drink here, so clearly cant comment on that but I do think in the canaries there is no point in all inclusive as food is so cheap, a beer is 30 pence and a litre of gin 6 pounds, anyway thats just our thoughts. The pool area is the star of the show, very clean, lots of sun beds and nice views out over the town. The pool is very cold (I braved it once) but we have found that wherever we have stayed this time of year. The apts are up a modest hill about 15-20 mins walk to the main bars and restaurants, there are some closer but they were not for us, loud football on all the time etc. As for the town itself it was a bit of a disapointment, the main beach is closed as its getting a spruce up which should have been finished months ago, lots of your usual type of shops and bars and restaurants but all a bit commercial for us, but again that may suit some. The best part of the resort is a ten minute walk south down the promenade where the Sheraton Hotel and main shopping complex is, there is a lovely beach there. In the shopping complex is the large Spar supermarket that we found to be the cheapest especially if you are doing steaks etc, there is a good supermarket just down from the apts that wasnt too expensive and had a decent choice. The main bus station is just as you enter the town and you can go exploring the neighbouring towns for next to nothing which we would recommend. We were pleasantly surprised here and can only think people are forgetting that these are budget apts, you get what you pay for which in our case was £165 for the apt for a week which we feel was excellent value. Genuinely don't believe they deserve some of the bad press they get and we wouldn't hesitate to stay in them again. On a seperate note we flew Ryan air again and still cant fault them, for the first time used our phone with the Ryan Air app for confirming flights and boarding cards and couldnt believe how simple it all was.
