Having stayed in Key West five times now, we could not be happier our decision to stay at the Casa Marina. This 1920 gem features luxury, charm and the best location on the island. While the date of the hotel dictates that some of the rooms may not have more modern floor plans, they are beyond sufficient. Where the Casa Marina shines is in the common areas! The pools, the beach, the lobby, the bar, the restaurant where all top notch. Every staff member we encountered, and there are many at this expansive resort, were friendly and helpful! Bravo to the Casa Marina! Collapse

I will admit that I was tempted to cancel my reservation here after seeing so many negative TripAdvisor reviews, and I'm glad I did not because there are a lot of good points to this hotel. Maybe I just have a misperception of the Waldorf brand, because I expect perfection at a Waldorf Astoria, and I saw things here that would be unacceptable at a Crowne Plaza, Sheraton or Hilton. First, the good points: -Our guestroom was in the historic building and I loved it, even though we didn't have a view (we knew this coming in). The room was spacious and tastefully decorated. -The pool area and beach: wow! What a great place to relax and chill for a few days! This is definitely the strongest area of the resort, and they know it. -Food quality was outstanding at breakfast and at the poolside cafe. -I loved using the Hilton app to check in, and for its digital key. We were able to select our room on the app with the use of a hotel map, which was really nice. -It was great to get occasional text messages from hotel staff during our stay to ask if they could provide anything, and it was great getting similar e-mails before our arrival. -This doesn't get mentioned a lot, but the housekeepers were terrific. Some problems that were in control of the hotel: -Arrival was a disappointment. No bellman or valet to be found (unacceptable when we're paying $30/night for valet parking). I had to search around the lobby (which was dead quiet on a Saturday night) to get help. -Guestroom bathroom was in rough shape (for a Waldorf-branded hotel). Cracked floor tiles, messy caulking around the shower, mold growing in the shower grout, faux wood peeling from the vanity, etc. -There was a sticky, oily stain (think of a movie theater floor) in the elevator that surfaced on the second day of our stay and was never cleaned. Again, that happens, but at a Waldorf? -General cleanliness was a problem in common areas. Again, historic hotels do show wear and tear, and that is totally understandable. But at $700/night, I expect that the pool tiles won't be moldy, that wine glasses and trash will be picked up, and that the screens on the poolside kitchen won't be torn and peeling away. -Service was very inconsistent. One day, we would get a friendly and attentive server at the poolside cafe. The next day, our food would literally be thrown on the table by the server, who turned his back on us before we could ask for silverware. Poolside wait staff was impossible to find, except for our last day (and Constantine was great). -Enforcement of the "no children" policy at the adult pool was non-existent. Problems that were definitely not in the control of the hotel: -I have a real problem with guests who rush down first thing in the morning to save a pool/beach lounger, and then don't use it for hours. That is rude behavior by guests, and cost us a whole day at the pool. -The adult pool is branded as a "relaxation area," but it often was a raucous gathering spot for adults trying to recreate Spring Break. In other words, it was loud. In closing, I'm just trying to be constructive, and I would love to try this hotel again, since all of the issues I noticed seem to be correctable. I'm not even complaining about the price tag, because this is Key West in high season. But when you're at a Waldorf, you expect perfection. Instead, this had the feel of a really nice Hilton. My wife and I have been to a few of the Waldorf Astoria Resorts as well as Waldorf Astoria Hotels. This is by far the WORST! I can't believe that Waldorf Astoria has put their name on this place. We are staying in room #134 and it smells very old and musty. There are large stains on the furniture (multiple pieces of furniture). The walls are very beat up and the paint job looks like it was just sloped on. When you pay over $500 a night you expect something a little better than what you would get at an ecolodge for $49.00. Service is EXTREMELY slow. Beach is awesome and the grounds are nice but neglected. If you have ever stayed at any Waldorf Astoria Resort or Hotel you will know that they are known for there attention to detail. Will NEVER stay at this location ever again. Before I trust the Waldorf name I will do some serious checking....my faith in their brand has been destroyed. Collapse
Not impressed for the price

Spent four days and was not very impressed. The view was beautiful, our patio went out to the beach and the drinks were pretty tasty. On the other hand...The drinks were very expensive and a few of the personnel were very rude.
