We were very excited to stay here after doing some research. Turns out this resort is not what it seems. Our room, was very small but that would have been manageable. There are cracks in the tile, paint pealing off the ceiling, rusted mirrors and the icing on the cake....our door handle came off in our hands. We asked about a better room and were told they are all the same. If that's the case then I suggest trying somewhere else in key west. We were thinking of a huge family gathering in Hawaii at their resort in Maui but now reconsidering. Collapse

This is the third time we've stayed at this property in the last 12-13 months so I wanted to update/post another review especially as our first stay did have a few very minor concerns. But just like a fine wine, the Casa Marina just keeps getting better with every visit! We stayed for a six day/five night vacation over Thanksgiving for the second year in a row and I'm positive this will become our yearly holiday tradition. Myself and my partner love Key West and have visited many times over the years but have never experienced a more beautiful resort, a friendlier or more efficient staff, or more comfortable rooms than at the Casa Marina. I strongly urge anyone considering this property to book the ocean/partial ocean view with a balcony, lanai patio or grand terrace, it's well worth the price and you'll be so happy you did. We booked a king suite with a ocean view/balcony and on this trip were upgraded to a king suite with a walk out lanai patio to the beach. It was literally the first room by the beach with walk out access, mere feet from the surf. It very well may be the best overall room the resort has. Having Gold or Diamond status with Hilton Honors or booking via a higher end travel program like AmEx Fine Hotels and Resorts certainly puts you in a position to better enjoy the perks of staying at a resort of this level. We ourselves enjoyed inclusive breakfast buffet (which is an amazing full offering of any breakfast item you could imagine), check in just before noon, welcome amenity, $100 resort credit, room upgrade, and a 4pm check out. So if you don't have access to these programs, check out the package options offered directly on the resort's or Hilton's websites AND SIGN UP FOR HHONORS! I've already mentioned breakfast, for lunch and dinner they have Sun Sun, a large beach side bar and restaurant serving a variety of items. Kay at the bar is a resort stable and an absolute pleasure to converse with while enjoying Lobster over pasta, peel & eat Key West Shrimp or a burger with the best sweet potato fries known to man! There is also a small relaxing bar in the lobby of the hotel called Rumba's with a very impressive Rum selection. Might I add for Thanksgiving, the resort did a spectacular brunch beginning midday whose selections would put anyone to shame. Besides the usual Thanksgiving dishes, there was a seafood raw bar with crab legs, shrimp, and oysters, numerous carving stations with tenderloin, pork loin, chicken breast, ribs, sirloin, prime rib, and of course turkey. So much food served with all the mimosas you could drink. Keep in mind, staying at the Casa is a choice for a real resort. It is located about 1/2 a mile or so from where all the action and nightlife begins on mid Duval. The smaller resorts in north Old Town cannot offer the quiet splendor, relaxing environment, the massive private beach, fine spa services, or the two huge pools that Casa has. In my opinion, the rooms in general are much larger than the properties on the north side in the more trendy area. I cannot count how many nights I spent at the resorts and B&B's there wishing for the noise and crowds to die down so I could sleep! If only I'd found the Casa Marina years ago. Collapse

We put ourselves in here over Thanksgiving because we wanted to compare it to The Reach. It's pretty much the same. Everyone who says that the bathrooms are tiny are right. We had a walk-in shower which I prefer and that did improve the perception of space but as usual, the bathrooms across the two estates are a little on the small side. Everyone who says that they should both be Hiltons rather than WA's are right. They should be down-branded one notch because, frankly, they detract from the Waldorf brand. I loved the fact that there was a pool for adults on one side and a pool for families on the other. Nice! The bar area did have a very large outside seating area and a big bar, much better laid out than The Reach. If you are a couple and want a day by the pool where you can walk up, sit at the bar, take a drink and chill then select this resort rather than The Reach. Later in the night, if you've come back from dinner and drinks on Duval then you can get a drink at a tiny little bar in the lobby which despite being tiny is very welcoming and friendly. It certainly compares very well to the one at The Reach which permanently looks like an nightclub at 8pm before folk come in. There's a really nice walk along the front to get you to the road where you have a quick walk to Louie's Backyard for food and drinks which is a must not miss destination. Getting onto Duval is fine as well, so don't be put off by that. Your journey back is going to be on a pedal rickshaw anyway (which was fun!). We were very happy with our stay but remember, it's not really a Waldorf so don't expect that level. Collapse
