went out for a friends birthday, 2 course buffet, drag queen and stripper and disco. The drag queen was quite good, the two male strippers were ok but i felt that they were on for too long. We barely had any time to dance. The dj was absent more than he was present, every time i went to ask for a request he had disappeared!! The organisation of the food for poor, everyone piled into the conservatory at once, standing ages waiting for tasteless meat pie with 2 potatoes and mushy peas. The saving grace was the cheesecake tasted nice. Over all had a reasonable night but did feel the lack of organisation impinged on the atmosphere. Also bar staff appeared to be a bit clueless. We Arrived at the Carlton Park Hotel on Friday 9th March 2018, We had a lovely warm welcome and were given a room on the 2nd floor room 211 , This was small and compact but very clean and adequate for our needs. We were attending the King And I Motown event at the hotel and it has to be said that the singers TJ King and Paula Best were very good we really enjoyed dancing thought the decades . Its a shame the Motown theme didn't carry on as we expected once the King and Paula had finished, after all its a Motown evening The event included a three course meal there was a choice of three options for each for each course , we all enjoyed our food it was very tasty and was followed by coffee. We had booked a room at the hotel and stayed over , I must say I found the bed incredibly hard and very uncomfortable all though our friends who also stayed said theres were lovely and soft ( so perhaps don't book room 211) The next morning we went down for breakfast and this is where the Hotel is seriously let down , No one to greet us as we entered the dining room, Only tables set for 2 or 4 guest there were 6 off us and we had to move tables together to accommodate us , not the end of the world , The breakfast was poor and unorganised It was a buffet style breakfast , they had ran out of eggs, when the eggs eventually arrived the bacon had gone then there were no hash browns ,in fact its fair to say that at any one time there was never a Full English breakfast available as there was always some thing missing. A situation I feel could be easily resolved if breakfast was cooked to order. The scrambled egg looked like it had been there for a fortnight very poor . I also want to comment on the booking of our THREE rooms . When I booked the event I was told the price for rooms was £40 bed and breakfast at a special rate , when I phoned to book the rooms we were charged £50 per room B&B, When I queried this and asked them to honour the original price but was told "Oh well thats what it is now" I therefore contacted the Carlton Park Hotel via the contact us link on there web site. But they chose to ignore my e mail and never responded so we paid the extra and left disappointed. Stayed for one night for business purposes. Arrived to a friendly and efficient check in about 830pm Stayed on the 4th floor. Room spotlessly clean. Clean bedding and towels. Bathroom had shower cream and hand soap dispensers Went for dinner in the bar. Only one or two other guests - so no people to interact with. However the bar staff were extremely friendly. Ordered dinner from the main menu to have in the bar. Portions very generous and tasty. I had a burger. Ordered extra onion rings and slaw but it came with it already, so couldn’t manage all of it. The bar area has character and much more welcoming than the likes of premier inn or travelodge. In fact all of the hotel is much more inviting than those large impersonal chains. Good nights sleep in the bed and quiet corridor. Powerful warm shower! Although I hate shower curtains!!! Breakfast was served in the large restaurant / conservatory area and was self serve with a selection of fruits, cereals, and full English. Again the food was very tasty. Could do with hot plates though. And once again very friendly staff. If on business in the area I would stay here again. There is free wi-fi as well Collapse

Booked a weekend with the Mrs and 13 year old daughter just to go relax really and use the spa etc. The hotel overall is nice and clean. The rooms were lovely. The spa area is very small as is the changing rooms. The Jaccuzi wasn't working which was a let down really. However the sauna was great and the pool. I didn't bother with the gym area but had a nosey and looked ok. Breakfast was incuded in our price and was a buffet style all you can eat and was spot on! The real disappointment for me was the price of alcohol- £4 for a pint of lager (Fosters). This is extortionate !!. I did complain to the lady at the bar but naturally she just works there. I'm getting married this year and looking for a venue to have my wedding in - but i couldn't expect my family and friends to pay so much for there drinks at the bar. Usual price for a pint is £2,80 - £3.00. This really needs to be looked at! Collapse
