Absolutely DiSGUSTED With how my wife and I have been treated at the hotel today visiting for a friends party and I WILL NEVER go back ever again after arriving early to enable me to park car close to hotel as I have a serious back problem limiting my ability to walk any distance we managed to park in a disabled space just at entrance. We were having a lovely evening celebrating until the disco started and the DJ announced in an obnoxious manner over the microphone "would the owner of car reg number xxxxxxx remove their vehicle as it is parked in a disabled spot .I was fuming at this point as my wife was forced to do "a walk of shame" as all the hotel were now thinking that we had parked in a disabled spot when WE had done NOTHING wrong we were legally parked clearly displaying a DISABLED badge. What was more degrading was that due to some Obnoxious arrogant woman kicking up a stink with the "manager" WE were made to feel second class citizens so this person could park their car .My wife being the kind hearted generous person she is moved the car across the road and was forced to park on the grass verge in front of the hotel this without a thankyou or any gesture from the woman in the car or the manager. She was perfectly withing her rights to leave the car where it was however we were clearly discriminated against by the hotel staff as out of the THREE car parked outside in disabled bays WE WERE SINGLED OUT to be called out over the microphone.Had it have been myself faced with this the car would have stayed put only the kind heartedness of my wife saved the manager from "a situation" .It is with NO regret that neither I nor my wife will be going anywhere near this establishment EVER again after being made to feel so Uncomforfable embarrassed and discriminated against through no fault of our own We were legally parked .. Booked an afternoon tea including spa access. The spa was brilliant got to use the pool, Jacuzzi and sauna for a couple of hours and it was lovely. We then went for our afternoon tea which was in the bar area. They gave us a table next to the bar infront of a large screen tv showing football i refused the table and asked for 1 out of the way near the window. The staff were lovely and all the food was nice. The issue was the setting. There was a function on in the room next door so all you could hear was the blaring music and the dj. It was such a shame because the staff and food was lovely. I don't think the afternoon tea should be served in this area it just isn't suitable at all. This would put me off going again. Collapse

Myself and my new husband got married here on the first September. we had some issues. Firstly myself and my mother found a hair extension in the sofa bed when we pulled it out the night before the wedding, this indicates a lack of thorough cleaning, I did report this at reception the next morning. Secondly, the wrong music was played at my wedding. None of the music myself and my new husband had chosen for sentimental reasons were played; this not only spoiled my wedding ceremony which is one day of my life i will never get back or be able to replace due to it not being as we planned and having music we dont even like played instead, it confused me as I walked in as I was waiting for my music to start and i was prompted to start walking and the walk down the aisle was confusing and chaotic as I didn't have time to collect myself and link arms with my uncle who was giving me away and I was still wondering what was happening instead of focussing on my groom like I should have been. A hugely upsetting and disapointing experiance instead of what should have been the happiest day of my life. Thirdly when we went into the bar for the arrival drinks and one of the childrens drinks (glasses of orange juice) had a huge crack down it - not good service and not good health and safety given the recipients were young children. Fourthly during the meal, guests that had bought drinks at the bar werent offered a drink which was included in our package and the children and non-drinkers werent given anything to drink despite myself and Ben being assured that they would be offered orange juice. This resulted in the children and non-alcohol drinkers not getting a drink with thier meal. Finally the DJ and his service were appalling. He continuously played music neither me or the groom knew or liked (in fact we both disliked it) for 3 hours despite numerous requests to change it. I know of 8 people who requested he change the music including myself and Ben as we really disliked what was being played -60s and 70s music. It took at least 5 attempts at asking the carlton park staff to intervene due to him blatently ignoring us and playing what he wanted to play and 3 requests to speak to a senior manager before the music was changed at 10pm - 3 hours after the evening reception began. At this point i was sat outside the venue crying due to upset and frustration as it really did ruin my evening reception. When he finally did change the music he became really sarcastic and announced each song twice -at the beggining of the song and at the end - again unacceptable behaviour. On a positive note i would like to praise staff for going above and beyond by removing a bush and building a ramp so my brother in law could have photos in the garden. We also appreciated the writing on the dessert plates. we are currently awsiting a response to an email to the general manager Collapse

We found the Carlton Park located in quite a nice part of Rotherham, very convenient for access to the local area, inc the M1/18, Meadowhall/Sheffield and Chesterfield. We selected it for a 5-day stop over en route from our main holiday and convenient for our next port of call - Derby. It had the benefit of a small swimming pool with suana and jacuzzi. The general decor - particularly in the heavy use areas - gave the appearance of needing an update... a bit 70s! But our room (319) was clean, comfortable and reasonably quiet, despite there being functions in the hotel over the Bank Holiday weekend. There was no air conditioning, just a fan - and we needed it (with the windows open too) as the weather was very warm for most of our stay. We were facing south east over the rear of the hotel, towards Boston Park. The bathroom was a bit small with very little storage space. There was a safe in the room, but we couldn't make it work with assurance, despite reporting it as intermittently faulty. There was a good selection of food at breakfast. We also had one reasonable evening meal in the hotel, at the kind of price you'd expect in a hotel of this size and facilities. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly as our stay progressed after the bank holiday weekend when they'd been very busy. The rate we paid (c£100/night) was slightly more expensive than local Premier Inns plus the cost of their breakfasts on the nights in question. I'd say PI generally a lot more modern, most have air conditioning, but none have swimming pools... you pays your money and takes your choice. If I could give 3½ dots, that's about where the Carlton Park is... not exceptional but by no means one to avoid. Collapse
