Rang Tuesday 12th Dec to book one night with disabled access, (I am on crutches and hubby has recently had a transplant) we was told the room was available. We had already chosen our breakfast from the lovely range advertised on their website (Eggs Benedict for me). Arrived Wednesday, got in at 5pm from a cold snowy freezing outside, to find no heating on in the room, We complained to reception who said it would be sorted. We went out, returning at 9pm and the heating was still not on radiators all cold, we complained again, and after about half an hour of me sitting with my coat and gloves on in the room, the radiator finally kicked into life. It went off about 4 a.m. I woke up cold at 5 am and put extra clothing on to try and get back to sleep in the cold room. Got up at 8a.m and showered in the cold bathroom, towel heater and room heaters still cold. At breakfast we was told breakfast items are limited when there are not many guests in, so no full breakfast menu available (does not warn you about it on their website), and there is no reduction in price for a limited breakfast menu. We got an apology for the freezing room and was told it was due to some sort of theft on Saturday that it had affected the heating. They did not tell us when we rang on Tuesday that the room might not have any heating, even though there was snow outside on the ground and we were booking a disabled room and are not in the best of health so we need heat! and there was no reduction in cost for the awful conditions we had to put up with. This place has obviously gone down hill since we last went (we have been a few times over the years), but we wont go again. An apology for the cold room simply was not enough. Its a premier inn for us next time, cheaper, and a good nights sleep guaranteed! Such a shame this place has gone down so much as it was the most convenient for visiting relatives and up till now, we did not mind paying the fairly expensive price as its supposed to be a luxury hotel, but they simply seem to care more about money than comfort of guests these days, such a shame. A year ago, I would have recommended it, but not again after this stay, I think we might have been warmer is we had slept in the car! Collapse

We decided on a whim to try this hotel for an overnight stay (a belated birthday present) after an online search. It seemed good value for the type of room and we opted for the half board option. I later read some reviews and was a little worried. I should not have been. Ok, this is not a modern chain hotel but it is clean, has good facilities and a quiet location. We opted for a four poster room with a jacuzzi bath and it felt very luxurious. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the menu was good (had the best prawn and crayfish started i have ever eaten!). The breakfast was also really good. We would definately stay here again. Despite the very slight lack in luxury that could be provided by a modern chain hotel it more than made up for this with uniqueness, value for money and a more personal friendly atmosphere. Collapse

A nice looking Hotel with ample parking and pleasant staff in attendance although to be quite honest the few staff that were there seemed to be rushed off their feet during our evening dinner. The rooms appear to be reasonably large and spotlessly clean although the theme of having black painted coving throughout most of the hotel does tend to give an odd appearance. The lack of suitably positioned lighting in the dining room and lounge detracted what could have been pleasant areas. Dinner was efficiently served and quite pleasant and breakfast likewise. In all a pleasant stay. Collapse
