Things on Venice can be expensive; but the Carlton Capri was priced just right with breakfast included. If you are looking for a nice clean hotel to stay at, this is the place that is on the island and near the train station. My wife and I can to Venice for Christmas and to celebrate our annaversary. This hotel was perfect because all we needed was a place to sleep, knowing that for the majority of the day and evening we would be out wandering this amazing city. The staff was very polite and the included breakfast had a good variety to choose from. The location was easier to find then expected as we can in on a late evening flight. The hotel also had a couple of good restaurants very close if you like finding the places where the locals frequent. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to all our family and friends. Collapse

If you start from Piazzale Roma - remember that you have to walk to this hotel with your luggage, If you have more than we did (one backpack and one roller case each) you may need to find a porter. Also you will need a good map to find your way. Don't rely on instinct since Venice is an old city with lots of ways to get lost. We found the hotel after a few wrong turns and found it to be actually rather close to the Piazzale Roma and within easy walking distance to many must-see places like Rialto and St Marks Square. Check in was easy and service exemplary. Our room was nice but not huge. Clean and with all you would need in terms of conveniences. Not sure if there were any english speeking tv channels but watching telly was not a priority anyways. Bed was very comfortable as well. And we are picky in terms of sleeping preferences. Breakfast had all we asked for and made us prepared for a day of touring Venice. The hotel does not have a restaurant but you will get a discount at "la Cupola" which is only a few steps away if you show your room card. Note however that "la Cuppola" do not open for dinner service until 7 PM so if you are famished after your trip that is not your eatery. Check out was quick and efficient. One thing to be aware of it that Venice has a tourist tax that you will have to pay yourself regardless of whether you have a voucher for the stay or not. We deposited our luggage after check out so we could pick it up when leaving for the "terminal Croziere" later on. Collapse

They had a weird configuration of a showerhead in the tub so could not really shower, but ran a nice hot bath instead. The staff was really friendly and helpful with all of our needs and directions we asked for. The breakfast (included with our stay) was substantive! lots of fresh selections provided (even for my gluten-free diet restrictions). We only stayed overnight before our cruise (oh ya...it is pretty easy to get to the cruise port from this hotel), wish we could have stayed longer. Venice is amazing! Collapse

Im not sure how this place has so many good reviews. There was nothing good about it. Its in a dark, ugly alley covered in graffiti. Garbage bins and booze bottles everywhere. Over all it is a tired hotel, it needs a major upgrade. Had to climb two flights of stairs to get to our room with luggage after getting off the elevator on the second floor? The room was tiny, two of us and we felt completely crammed. Bathroom even smaller, behind a pocket door pretty much right up next to the bed. Zero privacy. Sheets and towels paper thin, carpet and bed spread DISGUSTINGLY dirty, curtains dirty and stained. Breakfast included but gross. No bread, raw bacon, undercooked eggs and salty cold cuts. Sadly this was the tail end of a trip through Italy, and it pretty much ruined what I thought would be romantic Venice. Collapse
