We had originally planned on staying at a Disney property, but discovered that we could get a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa with a kitchen at El Caribe for less money! We had driven by El Caribe during previous trips so we knew how close it was to Disney and how easily we could get there. World Center Drive runs right into the main Disney gates! Check in was fast and the staff were all friendly. The villas are tucked away from the main hotel towers but it was only a 3 minute drive to the gated lot near the villas. There is also a small pool and a hot tub in the villa area. It is much quieter and warmer than the main pool, but there is no bar area like there is at the main pool (where you can also order lunch) The room was very clean and relatively modern (3 LCD TVs in the unit). You get Wi-Fi as part of a daily $20 amenities fee, which I wish they would just incorporate into the daily price of the room. Housekeeping did a great job of working around our schedule to service the room each day, providing shampoo/soap and coffee supplies for the in-room coffee maker. Towels are replaced if you put them on the floor. For those of us who are environmentally friendly and can use a towel for more than one day, you just hang them up to dry and they are left for you. In the main hotel, the breakfast buffet ($20) was delicious and there was a wide variety of options to choose from, including omlettes/eggs cooked to order. The 24 hour Café was also a great option for food and drinks (including beer/wine). A breakfast sandwich cost about $7 and it was delicious. The main pool (a very easy 5 min walk from the villas) had plenty of seating and was very clean. There is a water slide and two hot tubs in the pool area, as well as a bar that serves food as well as drinks (all reasonably priced). This place is highly recommended for adults and families. (Though I was afraid to say that because I don't want to get shut out of a villa if it becomes too popular!) :-) Collapse

My wife and I planned a weekend trip to Disney World for the previous weekend to go to the Magic Kingdom and also visit our son who was living in Orlando and working at Disney World. That trip was interrupted by Hurricane Matthew. We had to change hotels because our previous hotel refused to honor our reservation that was canceled by the evacuation. We chose the hotel Caribe Royale the next weekend because of their cheaper rates. We didnt know what to expect and we called and told them we wouldn't arrive until after midnight because of the drive time. They were very accommodating and said that was fine. We had a double queen in tower 1 and found it to be great. The staff was very pleasant and took care of all of our needs. Very clean, quite, spacious, and very comfortable beds. We plan on taking the children back in late fall and as long as the rates are comparable we will definitely choose this hotel. Collapse

My family stayed here in late September for 10 days for a extended family vacation. We arranged for two; two bedroom villas and were assigned in tower 4. I chose the Caribe based on a couple of factors; planning for a large group age ranges 15-82 (yes 82), living space, bedding and of course cost. This is a VERY LARGE resort / hotel and getting around it is not easy however the staff really shines here and would send a service buggy ( golf cart ) to bring my aunts to and from the main building whenever they wanted to visit the restaurants. The smaller pool centered between the villas is very clean, the water temp was spot on and there were plenty of towels & lounge chairs. We never visited the larger pool with the water-slide, honestly it was just farther than any of us wanted to walk & our end of the property was pretty empty so we just took advantage of that. The parking lot is well lit, I would see staff patrolling at night and a security lift gate for the villas requires your key to enter and exit. The units themselves were very spacious and seating for two on the screened balconies. The beds were comfty, bathrooms were clean and kitchen & appliances were squeaky clean. The furniture wasn't misused or broken, couch and chair cushions weren't sagging or gross, no peeling paint or moldy corners. I know that sounds crazy but I've been to those places too & it grosses me out. The rooms do have drawbacks as well... It is dated and I admit that I was pretty disappointed in the age of the furnishings; the tiled kitchen counter screamed 1970's & just made me go into mommy germ mode. Insert Lysol wipe down phase here. The age of the room did fade away after a few days especially after the parks when we would get back exhausted from the day and just spread out in our spaces....Ahh- personal space. After mountains of people all day long; let me tell you that elbow room is priceless. The only true sore spot that sticks with me about the room(s) is the master bedroom absolutely needs a nightstand with drawers for additional storage. Using plant stands next to the chair and bed does absolutely nothing, it holds nothing & is useless; why bother. We dined at the Tropicale for breakfast; ordered the buffet one day and from the menu the next. Good food and selection, wait staff was attentive and friendly. Pricing was typical of any other in-house restaurant. It was Orlando's Magic Dining month so we tried the Venetian Chop house while there - Ehh. It was okay I don't think I would go out of my way to dine there though. The service seemed to drop off after ordering & a dinner was taken off our tab due to the complete failure of the cut. It's really dark & I'm sure they're trying to set a mood but it's really like being in line at Space Mountain dark. Let me close on the staff. Outstanding cleaning stafff - considerate and kind, helpful and efficient. I wish I could remember their names; I'm sure my aunts would, these ladies were phenomenal & always friendly. Readers note: Please tip your housekeepers they work so hard & a few dollars on the counter lets them know you appreciate them. Travelling with a large group is hard and keeping everyone happy is harder the service we received from check in to check out was top notch & excellent all the way around. Collapse

Last minute weekend Florida Staycation. Drove down and was at first skeptic because of the color of the resort. First thought, going to be a couple family reunions going on..... Thought it might be a little "Cheaper Sleeper" but was pleasantly surprised when I entered and was met by a wonderful staff, great service and full of enmities around a great waterscape. Will return and recommend staying. Close enough to restaurants if you want to eat away. Collapse
