I travelled to this hotel with my husband & 4 year old son. My sister in law & her partner stayed in the Garden Village area of the resort. Firstly, the service from Jet 2 was outstanding. It was our first time using them, and they were so efficient. Short transfer from the airport (approx 1 hour with 2 stops) & we had a direct transfer back to the airport on departure day. Check in was good - we were given a map & as we were located in block K which is furthest away from the amenities, someone drove us up with our luggage which was greatly appreciated. Mealtimes etc were discussed with us also. Our room was K102. As others have said, they are dated but very clean. Unfortunately our room had no electricity due to a fault in the block. I contacted reception to request another room, but in the end decided to stay put (reception were willing to change our room may I add). We were located on the ground floor - lovely terrace area with beautiful views. Yes the hills are a killer, but nothing that any able-bodied person couldn't handle. The location of the hotel is well documented, so I'm not too sure why people are so surprised that the area is hilly?? Our room was a 1 bedroom apartment - bedroom & bathroom were very spacious, however the living room area was quite tight. I was a bit annoyed when I saw my sister in laws room in the garden village - beautiful refurbished room & located really close to amenities. When I booked, the garden village was a lot cheaper than the carema club so feel a tad duped by this. The food was amazing!! Considering it's an all inclusive resort, everything was well cooked & there was a good amount of choice at each mealtime. I did feel there could have been a better selection of desserts, but the choice was sufficient. You can swap the buffet for dining in the 2 restaurants, but we didn't utilise this as the buffet food was so good. The usual drinks in plastic cups from the pool bar & hot dogs available too. You have to pay for slushes (€2.50) & ice lollies which I do think should be part of your all inclusive package. The main pool was excellent - plenty of space & managed to get loungers each day. Entertainment around the pool was good fun, with no pressure to take part from the animation team. The splash park was good fun, however I will echo what others have said - its bonkers to have no parasols up there & the no drinks rule is also baffling. It reached 38 degrees some days which meant that it would have been verging on neglect to spend so long at the splash park. We tended to spend the day at the pool & head to the splash park around 330pm. The beach was lovely - so shallow!! We paid €15 for 2 beds and a parasol, which I think is ok considering the bed is yours all day. Most of the staff I met were very pleasant- the odd one wasn't but hey ho. Very good with my wee boy (especially Chema in the marlet playa). My son is still speaking Spanish thanks to this gem. The entertainment team give it their all from morning til night & are fantastic with kids. My wee boy knew all the dance routines & really came out of his shell. My only negative would have been the evening entertainment - it wasn't really to our taste & finished around the time all inclusive ended (1030pm). Another slight problem is the lack of toilet facilities around the resort. In summary, if you're looking for a fun filled family resort then this place has everything that you are looking for. We are already looking to book again for next year, only we will be staying longer than a week :) Collapse

Hotel is set on a hill be prepared to walk up many steps.. Rooms are very basic and need updating ours was J102, 1980s design, but cleaned daily. Lack of toilets in whole complex. 1 male and 1 female toilet in buffet restaurant to support 700 plus guests and poorly designed, hand dryer above urinal and door opens inwards and seated guests can see inside toilet. No toilets near pools. Check in was very poor very long drawn out process. Rooms were not ready. Reception area dated 1980s design. Music around main pool all day long, very loud techno music, could do with playing some chilled out music, change the routine. Staff worked very hard, waiters and cleaning staff deserve more credit. Pool in garden area very nice but again no toilets or bar. Food very good, varied and fresh. Lovely beach. Had to queue for drinks and main pool bar swim up bar not used. Air con in room was poor. Noisy rooms above with moving furniture and kids. Tony a legend on car hire.. Fornells very nice for a day trip. Splash park good but no shaded area. Good shop near by.. Collapse

Just back home after a great holiday. It was my 4 year olds first trip abroad so her grandparents and Aunt and Uncle came long too - all of us had an amazing time. My daughter is quite timid and shy but she loved the mini disco and all of the animation team were so friendly towards us. The bar staff were also really friendly with a good selection of drinks and cocktails. After the mini disco the entertainment was ok but we all still had a good time. Food was good with loads of variety and loads of space in the restaurant. The pool is really good too - my daughter spent loads of time in the little pool then worked up the confidence to go in the big pool and loved it. Loads of stuff on during the day too like aqua gym and water polo. We will definitely be back next year and I would highly recommend if you are looking for a family holiday. It is quite a trek to any other pubs or restaurants but that never bothered us. Can't wait for our next holiday there ! Collapse

What a fantastic place for a family holiday! As a family of four with 7 and 4 year old children we'd done our homework before booking with Carema and we weren't disappointed. Check in was seemless. We were an hour early but our room was ready and everything clearly explained. Our room was at the top of the hill near the back of the complex (J209). It's a bit of a walk back up the hill but nothing any able bodied human couldn't handle. The room as Standard and whilst sparce it had everything someone on All Inclusive could ask for (all we needed was a Fridge, Beds and Bath). Rooms were cleaned daily by friendly unobtrusive staff. Our view from the balcony across to the hills was stunning. We had a faulty kettle which kept blowing a fuse but that was replaced a day later. No biggie. The splashpark is fab. We all loved it and went every day. Always clean, well staffed and loads of fun. The pool area too is immaculately clean and while both are not heated, the sun does it's bit and you soon get used to the temp. All inclusive meant free drinks at the poolside bar - wine served in half pint plastic cups takes some getting used to but after a few it doesnt seem to matter. In fact, nothing does to be fair. It also means free food in the buffet. Food in there is OK. Well cooked and lots of choice but all a little manic for my liking. We didnt realise until our last day that with 24 hours notice we could have gone of table d'hote's in the a la carte eateries on site. We'll be doing that every night when we return. The kids mini disco is fab. Our kids loved it and we felt totally confident letting them run round, dance and take part on their own. "Dancing Man" and his team were absolutely brilliant. So glad we chose this place and already planning our return. Unos, dos, tres Musicaaa :) Collapse

This was our 2nd visit to the Carema having visited last year. The hotel was still very good but has lost its "sparkle" from last year so sadly this will be our last visit for quite some time. It was just the small things that it lacked this year- for example no kettle in my parents room, a broken window in the bathroom...The food was still fab and the majority of staff were happy to be there.
