I am a successful 30 year old woman, but look much younger. Everyone at this hotel judged me based on my appearance and treated me like I was a child. Not one person working for this hotel treated me with any respect. I have never, in my life, been treated so horrible as a guest in ANY establishment. Even children of guests should not be treated as I was. On top of the HORRIBLE customer service, I saw tons of rats in the bushes outside and a lady having a drink next to me at the bar had a roach crawl right up on her plate. But none of that is why I left a day early. I left a day early only because of the way I was being treated. I typically like staying at Hilton hotels, but now it will have to be the only hotel available for me to EVER stay at a Hilton again. I was very disappointed to have ended my vacation early, but even that was better than staying at the Capitol Hilton and being treated like crap for another day. Collapse

Sorry for the negative review, but this property did everything it could to deserve it. Staff was uninterested in helping. Two people ahead of me and it took forever to check-in. Check out was equally frustrating. Was on terminal hold trying to ZIP Check-out. Finally gave up and waited forever for someone to acknowledge me at the front desk, although only two guests in front of me and three people behind the desk. No acknowledgement by the gift shop help either, and the Executive Lounge spoiled me with a bottle of water. Room was clean but the furniture old and worn. Frankly, except for the concierge, who, after a few minutes of trepidation, actually smiled and said hello. As a long-time Hilton Diamond Member, that was the highlight of my staff encounters. Capitol Hilton must be the employer of last resort. There are many other Hilton properties to choose from in D.C. Avoid this one, unless choosing it for location only. Collapse

Stayed two nights on business trip. Location near other hotels where conferences were being held and proximity to subway were the positive highlights. On the downside, it was the second time I got a room that had some "stale" smell to it, probably because carpet and wallpapers are just plain old. Water pressure in the shower was a joke... water came down so slowly it took me twice as long to shower. Reported issue to front desk and despite promises to fix it, issue was never solved. Oh, and this all happened at a so-called "executive suite"... I believe there are better hotels to stay in DC. Collapse

I travel quite a bit. This Hilton needs to close, remodel, and hire new staff. The staff is quite unfriendly and English must be a third language for most staff. The lobby bar is terrible. Super slow service while the bartenders talk amongst other staff instead of waiting on you. This is a common theme in the hotel. During checkout I needed an updated receipt. I knew this would be painful. After waiting in line, I then waited while the desk staff answered four phone calls for other requests while just trying to get a receipt. The language barrier is unbelievable with front line staff. The rooms are dated and in total need of remodel. For the price, I at least expect something clean. The beds are very firm and uncomfortable. They can only squeeze queen size beds in the room due to how small they are. No fridge in room. AC only keeps air moving. Just very dated. Bathroom had hair from past guests everywhere including floor, shower curtain, tub, sink, etc. Lastly, I had an oversized vehicle in valet parking. This means they park it out front instead of garage. For $73, I was able to pick my truck up in the morning with the passenger window down. And it was raining. The whole passenger side of my truck sat in the rain for hours and was soaked. I did not feel like even going back in because as mentioned the staff doesn't care and they probably wouldn't have understood me anyway. For the fees this hotel charges, you have plenty of other options in DC. I highly suggest you choose one of those. Collapse

The Capital Hilton is wonderfully located near the White House and other DC sites. It is in a safe area within an easy walk to the White House, the mall, and many terrific restaurants. The hotel is somewhat dated with serviceable but just ok rooms and facilities. They do have a very nice continental breakfast that is complimentary with a small charge to upgrade for omelettes, waffles, etc. Compared to the Mayflower and some other hotels in the area, the Capital Hilton was somewhat of a bargain Collapse
