Spent 2 weeks i February and March and just returned from a further week on the island of Malta. Both times stayed at the Canifor. This is one of those Hotels that you get what you pay for. If you want 5 star go to a 5 star and pay for such DON NOT be like the sheep that stay at this place. By SHEEP i refer to those who get out of bed and switch on the moan button and do do not turn it off till they collapse drunk or go back to bed. Staff are great and help whenever one requires such. Manners go a long way when addressing the staff and it costs nothing to say good morning chef or thank you to those bringing wine to your table. On the food front the typical British tastebud is catered for however standing in the meal queues one would think one was on a different planet. If one wanted a freshly cooked egg all one has to do is ask.....so if you visit unless your moan is for something real try being quite and courteous to those around you. Collapse
Dirty Unfriendly should be a 1 star keep away

The room was basic no pillow or matress protectors towels and bedding grey in color it was cleaned everyday but only changed the sheets once. The food was shocking paid all inclusive and eat out every night. Staff all except Nicola were very rude and did not make you feel welcome .Then to top it all a building site next door start at 7 and dust everywhere rat boxes round the pool. green mould on walls that went down to jacuzzi. A shocking hotel really spoilt my holiday. Collapse

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Canifor in April. We had a nice room overlooking the pool. The food at the hotel was very acceptable for the price we paid and was always served hot. We went out in the evenings so cannot comment on the entertainment in the hotel. The local bus station was only a few minutes walk away which was very handy. Collapse
I Loved the Hotel & Food - (In spite of the building site next door - which starts work at 7am)

The Hotel seems to upgrading / refurbishing rooms. My room on the 5th floor appeared to be newly appointed and decorated (Apart from the ceiling fan that looked aged - but was big enough to do the job) The room was excellent with TV, Fridge, Table & Chairs inside and on the balcony - washing line on the balcony (Useful for drying swimwear) Shower caps and hairdryer. To my delight smoking was allowed in the room and ashtray provided! Indoor and outdoor pools (Not huge - but never seemed busy) Indoor and Outdoor Jacuzzi available - Indoor in the basement with the heated indoor pool - outside on the roof (6th floor and a bit windy in April) I went all inclusive and did not regret it - Breakfasts excellent (But not English bacon), Lunch 3 courses and some choices available, (Or you can book a packed lunch to be collected if you ask the night before - pick up at 9am tho..) Evening meals had a very good and extensive choice (2 x Soups every day) several Main courses and deserts (Plus a waiter brings your drinks if you are all inclusive - no charge! - as a bonus the downstairs bar (Open all day) can provide 'Snacks most of the day (Sandwiches, Cheeseburger & Chips, Sausage egg & Chips etc) Upstairs bar only open in the evening (Never actually went there - but there is entertainment on...) Downstairs bar provides unlimited, generous measures all day... I stayed in the Hotel for a week due to a bad back and was quite happy there. In spite of the building site at the back of the Hotel - I had a really good time there! Collapse

We booked a 12 day stay at this hotel. I did read the other reviews but thought people were exaggerating when they said how bad it was.....not. We arrived with our 11 yr old daughter at 10.20 pm to be met with a conga of really hammered Eastern Europeans and British tourists lurching through reception I looked at my husband and said "what have we done"? We went to the room and it was fine, nice and big and clean. The next morning we went down to breakfast and tried to make small talk with the staff but they completely ignored us. The Russian guests brought carrier bags with them and filled them with food to eat later in the day (God knows why as breakfast was awful). The pool area was busy from first thing with Brits who just wanted to roast themselves all day while knocking back pints from 9.00am. So when it came to evening meal times they were sozzled and very very rude, sometimes aggressive. The food was ok plenty of choice and always something we enjoyed. I had requested a quiet room which I got until 3.00am every morning when the mortal English geriatrics tried to get into their rooms but were so drunk they could not get their key in the lock, so they were screeching and shouting, waking everyone up! So all in all I would not recommend this hotel in a million years. It is less than a 2 star hotel with awful staff, but that might be down to the awful clientele it attracts. However Charles the Maitre d' was fabulous, maybe the hotel should ask him to give the other staff some customer service training! I would save a bit more and stay at s better hotel. Good luck!!
