My first trip to Malta and how wonderful! Baring in mind there was +20 of us, we were welcomed and greeted so well. Our room was on the fourth floor and overlooked the pool. If you're ok for basic means then this hotel is for you. As previously mentioned, entertainment was suited to a much older audience however, this didn't alter our fun. The food was yummy I thought and there was plenty of choice. My biggest drawback was the indoor pool.....needs updating and the facilities weren't amazing. The water in the pool and hot tub was salty which wasn't nice. There wasn't a separate baby pool either. The steam room was nice though, but only big enough for three adults. Either way, The Canifor is situated nicely and getting to other places on the island were quick, easy and affordable. I would consider visiting and staying here again now I know what to expect. Lovely and friendly staff. Be your own critic and see for yourself :) Collapse

I went to this hotel with low expectations following reading the reviews. Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly reception staff, we were informed our room was not going to be ready until 2.00pm but we could put our luggage in the store room and go for lunch, which we did. We received our key and the room was pleasant, exceptionally clean, plenty of spare bed linen and towels. The bathroom was clean with complimentary toiletries. It was a typical basic hotel room that I would expect for the price I had paid. We were all inclusive the food was varied, always hot and plentiful. I always found something that I could eat. Not a great selection of deserts or fruit but I could live without these items. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly except for one waitress who was in my opinion very rude. This is the only member of staff that I found unpleasant. She never said please or thank you, didn't move very far away from the cheese and biscuit section and seemed to focus mainly on the small annexe area to the right of the restaurant. This person could be quite intimidating in the way she looked at you. The drinks were typical local products. For us it was pleasing that drinks were served in glasses rather than plastic cups. The entertainment was satisfactory and it did appear to serve an older audience, many local people came in the hotel to dance. But the thing is the hotel was occupied by many older people who were staying long-term, therefore they catered for the majority rather than the minority, sensible in my opinion. I did hear some people complaining but don't you always. Our first morning we went to breakfast at 9.00am and it was rather chaotic and guests were queuing for tables, but the hotel cannot be blamed if the majority of people choose to eat breakfast at the same time. We changed our time and went at 8.00am from then on and it was perfect. It really does annoy me when people pay little and expect big. In summary we got what we paid for. It was a very enjoyable stay, no issues whatsoever with the exception of the one incident with the unpleasant waitress and we would certainly stay there again. Great location that enables you to travel everywhere on the island with the bus station being so close. Building work in going on almost everywhere on the island, again how can the hotel be blamed for this. Building work is not going on in their venue but is in surrounding pieces of land. I have been visiting Malta for donkeys years and I have never known anything different from building development and dustiness so it was not an issue for me or my husband. Thank you staff at the Canifor and I know feedback is useful but I certainly feel that you do not deserve some of the negative and terrible comments made in previous reviews. There are obviously more modern and upmarket hotels in Malta and if you want to spend quadruple the amount you pay for a stay at the Canifor my suggestion is go to one of them. Collapse

The Canifor Hotel is very good value for the money we paid, the location is as good as you get in relation to the bus terminal, several very good bars for entertainment in the vicinity, the ho tel also provides limited entertainment. The room, although not large was cleaned everyday, towels changed everyday, sheets changed 3 times a week, all the staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a wide choice of food, although the chef could do with a few tips regarding not having too much fat in the trays at breakfast, and the plates were nearly always wet, they don't keep them hot, but over all, we had a really nice stay, deffo stay there again we were there 23rdJan-6thFeb, weather was lovely.
