The apartments are located near 9th and 39th . Location is good , you are near Times square, which is great to visit on an evening, great watching the street buskers, Trumps baby, the painted ladies, Micky snd mini mouse plus more. Tube and bus station and hop on hop off buses nearby. The apartment is more bedsit than appartment. No separation in the rooms. The rooms are clean, a little dated. Towels are provided. A hair dryer in the bathroom. Fridge, noisey, Air con. Very noisey. Switch off at night. Electric hob and micro wave. Plates , bowls, cups pans, glasses, cutlery all provided. The double bed was comfortable. Your room is not cleaned for you if you are there a week or less. You can bag up rubbish and give it to the chamber staff working on other rooms that have come empty. Good wifi in all rooms Free safe in the room Try and get a high up floor it is less noisey from the street below. we were on the 24th, we could see the top of the empire state building above the other high rise buildings. There are 6 apartments on each floor. Very little noise could be heard from neighbouring appartments. Concierge desk manned 24 hrs so you feel safe. There are cheap fruit and mini stores to buy food, milk, water cereal on 9th Avenue . Cross to the other side of 9th and walk south in the direction of Times square. 5 minutes walk. We felt safe walking around the area at night. Collapse
Great location, good value, interesting area away from the touristy stuff.

Location around Ninth Avenue and Port Authority and Penn Station can't be surpassed. Most Candlewood Suites I have stayed are usually in semi-rural/interstate exit settings, so I decided to try out this one in the heart of New York City. Location is on a cross street, curiously right next to the Holiday Inn Express, they could share lobbies! Front desk staff were very efficient, gracious and pleasant. One thing that stood out was the fact the elevator (27 floors was very fast), even during checkout in the morning. I was in town for business, so actually little time in the room except for sleep. Room is large enough, the bathroom was spacious and clean, good hot water and pressure. Mattress was a little saggy, and I'm sure that the room is due for an update, a little scruffy. Everything was spotless and clean. All that being said, I can recommend this hotel for the reasonable price and the location. Again, staff is what makes this mid-level hotel work very well indeed. I stayed 3 nights from June 2 to 5. It was not my first stay at this "hotel" but I remark that the price increase and the quality decrease !!! First thing to know, keep in mond that your room will be like your apartment. So it is very well equiped BUT no room service and cleaning for a stay shorter then 8 nights. If you would like a place where they will make your bed, clean after you cook or take care of the garbage, this hotel is not for you. That being said, now, great things first: - Well located near TImes Square, the main subway roads and Port AUthority Bus transit. - Large and clean room. Confy bed. - Super well equipped. You can cook as you are at home. - Just 6 rooms per floor so it's quiet. - Good free wi-fi Bad things: - The room needed to be refresh - The furniture is really outdated. I was afraid that the lamp would fall on the table. The frig look sad and the microwaves had burning spots inside. - Th air conditionning is very, very loud. - Poor tv signal - Hot water - ok for the shower but for the bathroom and kitchen sink you have to wait....wait... wait ! - Security - inside the elevator there is a sign that says that you need your room card to use the elevator but it's not true. Anybody can use it without a card. And the staf could be more "smiling" - Thumb up for Chris :-) And finally the worst ! The price !! Considering the hotel conditions and the fact there is no service, we can expect a lower price. For almost the same price, you can stay at the Staybridge (IHG too) on the 38th and have a nice studio, room service, lovely staff, breakfast and a 5 to 7 formula !!! Collapse
Perfect for the price!!!

I have stayed here twice now and I highly recommend it!! You can't beat the price for what you get! The room is not large, by any means, but it is large enough, especially for New York. It comes with a kitchenette, with a good sized fridge. You can save some money going and getting some food basics from a Walgreens or something similar and eating in your room as often as you can. Going out to eat in New York is ridiculously expensive! The bathroom is basic, with a tub, bed is comfortable; but, really, you are in New York, so you aren't going to spend too much time in your room, I hope! It is about 8 or 10 blocks from Times Square, if I recall correctly, but my wife and I are not small girls, and we were walking to and from and catching the Subway the whole trip, no problem. Also, they work with the hotels next to them, and there are items you can use in the lobby of each hotel, like a toaster or a fancy coffee maker (if they are available). Just an overall great hotel, especially for the price. Collapse

I stayed here alone (I'm a 30-something woman) while exhibiting at a trade show at the Javits Center. I found the hotel clean, safe and friendly. It was also relatively quiet despite the busy location. The bed was extremely comfortable. This hotel is geared towards long-term stays so it's set up that way. They don't clean the rooms unless you request it and that helps keep it affordable. I loved the kitchen in the room (although I didn't really wind up using anything except the fridge). It's nice to know its there though. I did also notice that there was always hot water. Quite a nice surprise for a large NYC hotel. I got a great rate online for my stay (which is why I chose to stay here this time) but with all the amenities and the location I'd say you'd definitely get your moneys worth paying full price. I look forward to staying here again when the stars align. Collapse
