I wanted to stay in the downtown area, and this hotel was perfect. It was within about 3 blocks of the Orleans Bus Station, so I was able to walk there with no problem. I found it to be in a safe area. I do not like to venture out much at night in an urban area on foot, but there is an IGA Grocery store about two blocks away, and I made that trip without any peril. It is also located about two blocks from China Town, so I was able to visit there and get a very good meal. The hotel is located near some nice shopping areas. You can easily walk to St. Catherine Street, and find several stores and malls. I was also able to visit a nearby Crepe restaurant. The best part for me was that the 747 Public bus picked up right outside the hotel. I was able to take this to the airport. It was only a 35 minute ride. The rooms were dated, but clean. They had a small kitchenette, and that was nice. The hotel does not serve breakfast. If you plan ahead, you can bring something. They do have free coffee. I would stay here again. It was very convenient. Collapse

The accommodation was average and adequate for a two bedroom apartment. There were some issues but they were attended too. It is targeting younger travelers we are in our 60's, but the young lady at reception was fantastic and a pleasure to deal with. It is a 2 to 3 1/2 star hotel so don't expect brass and glass fittings but everything was functional and kept in reasonable order. Would we stay again, yes we would, but remember the prices go up on weekends. Collapse

I stayed here with 3 other women and we were totally disgusted at how badly the hotel smelled. The carpets need to be ripped up and replaced with regular flooring. I am giving it one star for the friendliness of the front staff and the location. We had to buy air fresheners. Once you come out of the elevators the smell hits you like a wall. Then once you go into your room even with the ac on 24 hours the smell is horrible. We have to spray the air freshener which only masks the smell. The safety of the guests is not taken seriously either. The elevators say you need to use your key card to reach your floor for safety and it's not true. We came back to our room some nights at 2-3 am and we went straight up. Not safe at all!!! Housekeeping is only once a week which is something else we were not aware of. We had to get clean towels from the reception constantly. We also were not told where to put garbage. Our garbage containers were over flowing. Our first night there one of our ladies had to sleep elsewhere in the room because the one bed was broken. Once one could sleep on it. When they came to fix it in the morning they said it was just off the base. Not true. They had to completely put it back together. My biggest complaint is I'm a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due. I always check reviews on booking.com where I booked this hotel along with many others. When booking.com asked for my review after we stayed there I gave it to them and they said it's been published. Well interesting enough candlewood DID not allow it to be published and blocked it. Once I looked at all the reviews they only allowed the good. There's not one bad review. That's disgusting and unprofessional. We never would have stayed there had I read any bad reviews. Do yourself a favour and do not stay here. There's so many other beautiful hotels all within walking distance of the old port. Good luck and enjoy your stay in Montreal. It's beautiful Collapse

Staff is friendly. Beds could be firmer but for the advantage of being a walking distance to everything, no complaints. Will come again for sure. Collapse

Stayed at this hotel during a summer weekend with 4 guests. Parking: We drove in, and there's unfortunately no driveway, so we parked on a side street and checked in. There's a $24 charge nightly. We were told to enter the garage, but didn't realize you must drive up to the door very close (almost to the point of hitting the door) for it to open, so that was confusing. Once inside there is ample underground parking that felt secure. Room: We booked a one bedroom queen room with a double (full) size sofabed. Everything in the room appeared in good condition, was clean without any strange smells, and beds were comfortable. We called down for bed linens for the sofabed which staff brought up promptly. One complaint I have is that the room's A/C unit is only located in the bedroom, meaning there is no direct A/C for people sleeping on the sofabed in the living room especially if the bedroom door is shut. Granted it wasn't the hottest weekend and we were able to simply leave the A/C running in the bedroom all day with the bedroom door open, so the whole unit could get A/C during the day while we were gone. I can see this potentially being a problem in hotter weather though. Kitchen was fully stocked with plates, bowls, silverware, cookware .. no complaints. Nice full size fridge too. Location: What more could you ask for? Located just a several minute walk away from Old Montreal, Chinatown, with multiple Metro stations also within walking distance (Berri Uqam, St Laurent, and Champ De Mars). We ended up leaving our car in the garage all weekend, and using metro and walking, because well .. Montreal in the summer, with all the road closures and traffic, nuff said! Service: Friendly and helpful. Front desk staff are perfectly bilingual. I did run into only one employee from maintenance who came to my door when I called, and spoke French only (my French is quite elementary so it was an interesting encounter); nonetheless if you need help they will find a way to help you out in English if needed. We appreciated this cooperation here. I'd probably stay here again if I needed a family style room with a separate bedroom because it gave me what I needed. Collapse
