Just returned from this hotel and can honestly say we would not go again. We were using this hotel as a base as we were touring on a motor bike, the hotel was in a good location for, visiting a different destination each day, with good access to the roads we wanted, and being just outside the main town and away from the noise. Check in was a little slow for my liking as my partner was sat outside on a busy main road waiting to find out where the pre booked parking space was. Parking was very expensive for a motorbike at 15 euro a day. Making it 75 euro for the 5 nights plus another 10 deposit for the key. This we would get back when handed back in. The first night we were shattered after riding all day, but we were kept awake all night by scoucers arguing and fighting in the room at the side of us. We could clearly hear every word that was said, and the bloke singing for over an hour to annoy his missis who was screaming at him. Every scrape of furniture could be heard. This went on until well after 3am. On complaining to reception we was told they had no rooms to move us. We woke up shattered. For the rest if the week we had problems with a couple of young lads who had a party in there room every night, inviting half a dozen young girls to there room and smoking sheesha on the balcony. The only sleep we got was when there party stopped. Which when were riding a motor bike on winding country roads is no good to us. The hotel was full of mainly young family's, and large party's of young teens. The breakfast was like rush hour on the m25 if you stopped you got rear ended. After 2 days we ate out and never went back for food only a cup of tea in a morning. We looked at the food on an evening and left and didn't even sample what was on offer. On checking out the reception was busy as was usual every day. We pulled the bike out of the garage, then went to reception with the key, After waiting an age. I tried to check out offering the parking key and remote for the tv, both of which we had to pay a 10 euro each deposit. the blonde lady on reception would not check us out without the receipt for the remote or key, I said they were packed in the bottom of our bag in the bike, we had not been told we needed the receipt to check out so they were put with the rest of our paperwork. I said to forget the deposit and just check us out. Still she said she needed the receipt to check out. There was no way I was walking the long way around to the bike to then un pack it all and go back to reception to wait in a now full reception just to check out. Every other hotel we have been in didn't cause us this much trouble. Hand the door card in remote, key and get the deposit money back and leave. Simple. We ended up leaving without checking out and we still have the remote and garage key as the receptionist would not accept them back without the receipts. After unpacking the bags I now have the receipts for both. I wonder if they will now accept them back? I could always post them. I would never return here. Collapse
Not bad at all.

I've been to Salou before, awesome place!! This hotel was in a great location, close to the beach, shops, bars & clubs. This is the first time me & my sister have been here though & I'm pretty sure I won't be going back. Here's why.. the food!! I'm not sure I can put into words how rubbish it was. Me & my sister aren't very adventurous, we stick to simple foods, but even that was limited. Every other night there was pork like 5 different ways. Great if you actually like pork. I, however, don't. The service in the restaurant was horrific. The waitresses were completely rude & ignorant. They would come flying round corners with a million plates balanced on their arms - which is a talent in itself, but not a good idea when the restaurant is thoroughly packed! They completely owned the floor too. You either move for them or wear someone else's left overs. I didn't appreciate the attitude being thrown around by them either. We also never got to grips with the best time to go to the restaurant either. It was always like a zoo in there! Reception was always a nightmare too. When the staff were there they were helpful, but the wait time to speak to someone was exhausting. The maids were excellent though! Our room was cleaned daily & it was always spotless! High five to those girls! The room wasn't anything too special.. it was basic, but for the amount of time we spent in there, it did the job fine. There was no hairdryer, but we knew that previously & it wasn't an issue for us. We didn't bother paying for a tv remote or a fridge. We did get the safe though. I think it's quite possibly the most expensive save I've ever rented before though! €30 straight up for the week with €10 back at the end. The hotel was always clean & the pool area is a lovely area & always busy. For me, the only reasons I wouldn't go back here are the staff - I just can't handle how rude they were & the food. I'd previously seen a lot of reviews regarding this & we thought it wouldn't be a problem for us because we stick to what we know anyway. Well we both practically ate chips & bread for a week. We bought some bits from the supermarket across the road & ate out twice too! I love Salou & this place has by no means tarnished that, thank goodness! Collapse
Nice hotel, shame about the disco

I am just back from a week at the California Garden in Salou with 3 adults and an 11 year old. 3 if us shared a room and the other 2 shared another. If you plan on sharing with 3, the room is no bigger than a double, it just has a foldaway bed in so bear that in mind for space. The hotel is well situated for buses, not that far from the beach, about 10 minutes walk and it is modern and clean. As with all hotels at the height of summer there are slight issues with toilets and public areas but that often happens. We were half board, with breakfast a selection of pastries, toast, yoghurt and some bacon, sausage, eggs. Dinner was usually fish, pasta, a meat dish, salad. Then cake, fruit and ice cream. All quite tasty and hot. You have to pay for water and drinks. The pool area is nice with 2 pools, a bar and an indoor area with air conditioning. The pool was clean and there was a life guard. There was one big issue which the hotel can't really help, and that was the disco across the road which goes on from late until 6 or 7am. It's called Flashback. There seemed to be a lot of school groups as well, so if you don't like a load of teenagers then maybe look elsewhere! On our last day we couldn't keep our room on and there was no courtesy room so we had to use the gym. After a lot of Mis communication we finally were allowed in, we didn't realise that they had towels but weren't offered any. There is no air conditioning in the changing rooms so it was a bit like getting changed at the swimming pool! Oh and there aren't hairdryers anywhere so bring your own if you need it. Overall, an average hotel, don't think I'd return though but was fine for what we paid for it, with other hotels being £100-150 more expensive. Collapse
