Our group of four, consisting of my 69 and 75 year old parents, myself and my 18 year old son arrived at Cahernane House after a week in Scotland and three nights in wonderful Dublin. Because our only bad lodging experience of the entire trip was a manor house style in in Inverness, we were a little nervous. Our fears were allayed upon walking in to be greeted by the lovely Mary who informed us that while our two rooms were not quite ready, a late lunch and drinks would be available in the downstairs bar. Yuri, who was manning the bar was absolutely delightful and served us one of the best lunches we enjoyed during our entire trip. It is very apparent that the hotel is undergoing massive updates under current management and while yes, the rooms we were in had not yet undergone renovations, everything about the customer service made Cahernane House outstanding. I recommend that any one considering a stay here take a look at what they have done with both the dining room as well as the rooms in the main house. The rooms in the wing we were staying in were the largest of any we stayed in during our two week trip and both rooms had balconies overlooking a (literally) pastoral setting. The only complaint we had was that the TV in the twin room my son and I were sharing was fuzzy and we were only able to get a few channels on our first night. We mentioned this to Maryann (also just a lovely person) in passing on our wait out for the day's adventure touring the Ring of Kerry the following morning. She said that we had likely not pressed the right button, and we agreed that we would check that out when we arrived at days on. Upon return, we found that a brand new TV had been installed in our room. Problem solved! On our last day Maryann arranged for a jaunting cart to pick us up at the hotel to take us to Muckross House and Abbey. Unbelievable experience. This was followed up with dinner in the Cahernene House dining room which was unbelievably delicious and which ended with a gorgeous birthday cake delivered by the staff (singing included!) to my son for his 18th birthday. The next morning we had to leave at 3am for a flight out of Shannon. One of the staff was up and waiting for us with coffee and offers of anything else we might require. The entire staff here is top notch and I am fortunate enough to have stayed in some pretty amazing places around the world. They were kind, fun, funny and made you feel as if you were the most welcome guests in the world. I can't wait to go back and check out what they've done with the wing we stayed in! Thank you Cahernane House for rounding out a magical trip with an outstanding stay! Collapse

Just got back last week on a 14 day vacation in Ireland and Scotland. The vacation was a once in a lifetime trip. This is my first review and the reason is clear to me it is because I can say that the time we stayed at the Cahernane House in Killarney was the best. It was simply beautiful and relaxing. After long days out site seeing it was also a pleasure to come back to this welcoming home away from home. Beautiful grounds and the most helpful staff. We stumbled upon a heat wave (very rare) so the only snag is that we were in a beautiful suite but it had no air. They are in the process of renovating the hotel so hopefully that will be in their plans. We had breakfast there every morning. Not to be missed. The staff, Adam and Mary became our go too staff for question we had about the area and of course to make calls for taxi and reservations for dinners and shows. Thank you for being part of our Ireland Experience. PS: I had to visit the doctor for a cold while I was there. Not a problem Doctor was excellent and the lady's at the pharmacy were the best. I could have stayed there and chatted all day. They actually made me go to the doctors seeing that I needed something more then over the counter. Thanks again, funny ladies.. Collapse

We had a lovely spacious room on the top floor overlooking a field of sheep and cows with mountains as a backdrop. The Manor oozes charm and tranquility. Sipping a cold glass of Chardonnay out on the lawn while admiring the view was our idea of pure bliss. The staff are all friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. Dinner in the Restaurant is well worth the €50. The dishes were so beautifully prepared that it was almost a shame to eat them ! Collapse
