We visited Cabra Castle for a shot break on 15th November. We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms. The room was beautiful. Very large, as was the bathroom with a rainforest shower. The Castle itself is amazing with so many artifacts and interesting memorabilia. The bar was warm and cozy with excellent service. As it was mid week, there were not many people in the diningroom for dinner (four couples at the time we were dining). The service was excellent as was the food. There were a lot of people for breakfast and we were in the overflow diningroom which was just as nice. The staff could not do enough for us and I would highly recommend a stay there. Its a pity our trip was so short but we will definitely be back in the future. Collapse

What a lovely quiet place for a wedding. The staff were probably the best I have experienced in ireland. From the moment we checked in(early), we were made very welcome. The food was good with an excellent freshly cooked breakfast. The rooms , while small, were v modern and clean. I thought it was a little expensive at €170 for B and B which would be my only complaint. Overall excellent Collapse

This was our last stop in Ireland, and definitely the best! The castle is spectacular on the outside, and quite interesting inside, with everything one would expect from suits of armor, large portraits, old fashioned keys, and creaky floors. The rooms are huge, we could have fit 4 people no problem. I️ was a little worried about dragging my suitcase up and down multiple suitcases to get to the room, but the front desk helpfully offered to have it brought to the room before I️ even asked, and the bags came when we were in the room less than 5 minutes. The bartender Bernie was great. We ate in the dining room, and the service was quite good, and the food decent, we all cleared our plates. The grounds are beautiful, we went “ghost hunting” after dark, and while we didn’t run into anything supernatural, we did run into two adorable Wolfhounds who were happy to pose for pictures with us. I️ saw some reviews complained there was no one at the desk for an early check out, but we checked out before 7 and the night staff was there to take the keys. There’s definitely creaking in the floor and quite a few staircases, but for us it just added to the charm and we were thrilled. I️ would most definitely recommend this castle! Collapse

We stayed at two castle hotels during our visit to Ireland, and Cabra Castle Hotel definitely stood out. We were originally booked into one of the cottages, recently-built modern structures away from the main castle and courtyard where most of the guest rooms -- and all of the Castle's charm -- are located. On check-in, the desk attendant cheerfully upgraded us to a courtyard room in a large, two-story stone structure just behind the castle proper. We loved the room, which was spacious, comfortable and inviting. The Castle proper was the real deal -- with hidden alcoves, sitting rooms, winding stairs and hallways, a comfortable bar and authentic suits of armor on guard at every turn. Definitely a location for filming a whodunnit. We ate and drank at the bar both nights and it suited us just fine. The wedding venue was nothing short of spectacular, and the wedding coordinator took time out of her day to showcase it for us. It's a short drive into Kingscourt, where you'll find wonderful restaurants, pubs, shops and a chemist that can fix you up with a remedy for a nagging backache lickety-split. Stop in at Blakes for a pint and a friendly chat with the locals. By the time you get back to Cabra, all the folks there will know where you've been. Collapse
