My husband and I stayed in a cottage room at this hotel this past week. I loved everything about this place. Wonderful service and front desk attendants. Beautiful breakfast every morning. My only complaint would be that we stayed over a weekend and there were two different weddings going on. Really that wouldn't have been a problem except that we had wedding guests staying above us and the walls and floors are very thin out in the cottages. So we were woken up in the middle of the night the two nights we stayed there by noisy possibly drunken guests above us slamming doors and stomping around and yelling etc. One of the nights it only lasted half an hour and then they went to sleep but the other night it went on for over an hour and we finally called the front desk. Very soon afterwards things got quiet so we really appreciated the front desk taking care of that issue! Collapse

My wife and I stayed here on the last 2 nights of our vacation and it was the perfect way to round out the trip. The property is beautiful. The setting was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in the courtyard rooms behind the main building. Our room was quite large, more space than we needed for sure, and decorated perfectly for the castle setting. The bar and restaurant on site were great and both had good atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again when vacationing in the area. Collapse

We stayed here one night in room 78 during our trip to Ireland. Our room wasn't located in the castle proper but in one of the buildings that surrounds the castle. It looked like a converted stable. We ate dinner and breakfast in the castle itself. The castle is a series of hotel rooms, multiple sitting areas and staircases. We stayed on a Monday night and there was a wedding taking place. As we were leaving on Tuesday there was another wedding setting up. Weddings, during the summer in Ireland, appear to happen daily, not just on the weekends. Around 11:00 p.m., I heard a band start to play. It wasn't loud enough to keep me up but I was glad we weren't staying in the castle. Be advised that there are no elevators to the rooms or castle so you will be carrying your luggage upstairs if you have an upper room. You will also climb stairs to go to the dining room. The grounds are beautiful and there are walking paths through the woods near the golf course. Our room was large with a king bed, couch and small table and chairs. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. The bathroom itself was large compared to other hotels we have stayed. There were four windows to open which cooled down the room sufficiently. The bed did not have a sheet but a covered duvet and blanket. A blow dryer was provided. Wifi was free but a bit spotty for me. The hotel was a bit dated but a fun place to stay. It was the perfect end to our trip. Collapse

Went to a wedding here and stayed in one of the lodges. For a wedding venue this place was very picturesque and is set in a wonderful location. On arrival the check in was very easy, slight wait but it was busy. Staff very friendly and helpful with information. We left our things in the lodge (no. 6) and has a short walk back to the castle. When we arrived there were no nibbles left and only a small amount of fruit for the chocolate fountain. We were seated at great big tables so we were able to all sit together in my party. The food was served promptly, each table getting served all at once. We had a mushroom vol au vent, then apple and courgette soup followed by a choice of beef, chicken or fish. Everyone enjoyed their choices. There were mashed, garlic and roast potatoes ( with plenty of seconds offered, the garlic potatoes were delicious). Dessert was a small strawberry tartlet which was mediocre. Staff were slow to refil drinks at the table (shloer for the non drinkers). Acoustics weren't great for the speeches which was a bit of a shame. Tables well decorated and then night food consisted of sausages and cones of chips (not so nice, cold and tasteless) and chicken goujons (lovely), tea and coffee. Serving staff very friendly. When it came time to retire we needed use of the hotel courtesy car to take elderly relatives to their accommodation. Unfortunately we could not find anyone to assist with this. We asked a few staff but they didn't know how we could get a driver. We had to get a relative to get their car and drive. The lodges are very nice, Comfy double beds, great walk in shower and compact but ample. bottled water in the rooms was very welcome. Breakfast the next day was served in the castle. We had a few problems getting elderly relatives to the dining room to avoid the staircase. We had to walk the long way round via the reception room and through a long corridor which was a bit far for the relatives. On arrival We had to wait on a table for approx 10 minutes. Breakfast was a buffet for cold foods, cereals etc and table service for hot food. There was a great choice of hot and cold food which was very tasty. Toast in ample supply, only downside was that they closed up promptly so no scope to linger on or have tea coffee over a chat. All in all lovely wedding with great food but a few wee niggly things that could have been prevented. Collapse

Stayed here one night at a family wedding for a treat in a courtroom double room. Lovely thick carpet and very clean. Good sized bathroom too. Breakfast was excellent, set us up for the day and the lady on reception was an absolute gem when I was organising a taxi for my parents in-law from the wedding. Beautiful surroundings for a stroll also. Highly recommend here if you're looking for that wee treat. Collapse
