The room, huge, gracious, and well appointed, for the period of the castle, much history, surrounding you as you enter driveway, to the castle. The staff, food, and our stay was wonderful! and will be back to this wonderful place in the near future, for sure a keeper! on our list of places to stay on Ireland's castle tour! Collapse

I stayed in the Court Yard, so comfortable, clean, cosy, I wanted to bring the bed home! Food was 5 star, breakfast and wedding dinner. Great venue for wedding. If using google maps to get here please be aware it brings you in the back entrance and its confusing. Not enough signs. It says No Through Road but just drive in. If its dark stay on main road and look for the main entrance. Collapse

After booking we read the many reviews and realised that we might need to adjust our expectations , which we did. We got a castle room and were disappointed , nothing like the photos, we were then offered a courtyard room, which was quite a walk outside on a cold night. It was only marginally better so we stayed inside the castle. Room was not 4 star, needed painted, not full of nice furniture seemed more like the stuff that would not sell at an auction. Bed was very comfortable. Food was quite good after we had sent one of the steaks back , for some reason we got a good one and a really tough one , they replaced it without debate , but it took a long time to come back and I had already finished my dinner before my wifes returned. After we could not get a seat in the bar so went to bed. Unfortunately we were above where the smokers outside area and they were very very rowdy until 3am. I looked out and there were waitors collecting glasses there, so i did not think given all the shouting that i should have needed to go and complain. When I mentioned this on check out they were decent enough and gave a little off the bill. I know the management are skillfull and regularly come back on the reviews and pick out the good points but the long and short of it is, we came with no great expectations, the place while it is a castle is quite run down in some areas, and quite fake in some other areas. I have to give it a 2, as i would never come back , and i would never recommend it to anyone. But it was packed and crazily busy , the restaurant is a nice room and the people seemed to care. So maybe the profits will be there to improve the areas that need work. It would be nice to see it up there with some of the other cstles one day, but I guess given how much needs to be done it will be quite some time. 4th Feb 2017 Collapse

We selected Cabra Castle as part of a cut-rate off-season package. The property itself is amazing, with unique rooms and lots of amenities. We were told it's extremely busy during the peak season, but in January we practically had the place to ourselves. We didn't have the chance to partake in golf or other outdoor activities on the property, but we did take advantage of the recommended day trips, which were excellent. We also dined in the pub a couple of nights, and found it to be a very good fallback option when we didn't have a dining destination. Staff was very friendly and helpful, assisting us in building our own itinerary and providing a tour of the entire castle (the two bridal suites are unbelievable). Recommended. Collapse

Myself and my better half held our wedding reception in Cabra Castle and so, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we decided to make the trip back. When booking a table, I happened to mention in passing to the receptionist that it was our anniversary and as soon as we arrived at the restaurant, the waitress congratulated us, which was a nice touch. We were looked after exceptionally well from start to finish. Our food was delicious and we were both very impressed when our desserts arrived with a congratulatory message piped in chocolate on the plates. There was one waitress in particular, who was extremely kind and obliging. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She even took us back to the ballroom where we had the reception, as they didn't have a wedding on that day. As on our wedding day, Cabra Castle exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending them for lunch, dinner, holiday or your own wedding reception !! Many thanks for another memorable day. Collapse
