Just before we left for Venice we heard about the terrible weather had for the Carnevale. However, arriving on Valentine's Day the weather had turned from snow, flooding and high winds to brilliant sunshine. The sunshine lasted for our entire five day trip. The hotel we stayed at (Ca dei Conti) is not the easiest to find but it was quiet, luxurious and comfortable. We were offered an upgrade on the room at 40 Euros a night and I decided to take it. The room was fabulous! It really could not have been better! A wonderful and memorable trip overall. Venice is breathtaking. Thank you! Collapse

The only reason I booked this place was because there was a staggering £1200 discount on booking.com. I knew it would happen and it did. We were put in the crap end of the hotel, behind the reception through the door marked private. It felt like a bit of a inside joke as we got funny looks from the maids who congregated around this area of the hotel every time we emerged from our room which was falling to bits. I knew it would happen when I seen the discount so to try and avoided it I paid for the slightly better room and it was still shocking. Don't stay here if you're getting a discounted room. Collapse

Enjoyed our stay here. It was not easy to find. My advice is you will probably arrive by Vaporetto at San Zaccaria. The best way to get to the hotel with no bridges to negotiate with suitcases are: walk down Calle Dei Albanesi, you will find yourself in a lovely square called Campo SS Filippo E Giacomo. Go down the right side called Calle Drio La Chiesa, take the second left then first right and you will see the hotel from there. The only bridge you go over is the little one into the hotel! It takes about 5 minutes once you know where you are going! We were in the annexe part of the hotel. Our room was small but fine. We chatted to a couple who were in the main hotel, they said their room was huge so I guess there are different rates. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We had a lovely meal nearby at Ai Tre Leoni which you will pass on the way to the hotel. It is about 100m from there, very reasonably priced. Nice coffee shop in the square too called Magna Bevi Tasi. There are a few tables outside. I had coffee with a warm pear and choc cake...yum! Would stay here again if I was in Venice. Collapse

I had booked the Hotel Ca dei Conti for two nights at the tail end of our holiday in Italy after having a great time in Rome and Florence. We made the reservation thro bookings.com selecting a Triple room in the main hotel building (not Annex) and after looking at the type of rooms under this category. We had decided to visit Venice during the third week of July to coincide with our 20th Wedding Anniversary. This fact was mentioned to the hotel in an email and a request was made for suggestions of locations for a romantic dinner, for which the hotel was unable to provide suggestions even after our arrival. As we approached Venice by water taxi, there was a heavy shower and we were somewhat drenched by the time we made our way to the hotel via some small alley ways. It was an absolute lukewarm response from the hotel even though we were traveling with a 7 year old. We were allocated room 601 and told that it was a triple room but in a seperate Annex which was a 5 minute walk away. When we arrived at the room to our utter dismay we found that it was a dingy ground floor room and was in fact one of their disabled access rooms with a seat in the shower and rails all over. This was certainly not what we bargained or paid for !!! When I phoned the front desk they were quite dismissive and said they can not do anything about it and that they will 'try' to allocate a better room in the morning as they did not have any further rooms. I immediately called bookings.com and explained the situation to them and they agreed to call the hotel and look into the issue. After speaking to the hotel they called back to say that a senior front office lady called 'Prisca' had informed them that the room in question was not a disabled access room and that I had already agreed to accept the room. I was furious when I heard the blatant lies told by the hotel, so I immediately took photographs of the room and went to the front desk to meet Prisca. I then asked her if the room we were allocated was a disabled access room and she without batting an eyelid said it was a normal room. I then confronted her with the photos and asked if this is in fact a standard or disabled access room. She then went all quiet when I asked why she blatantly lied about it to bookings.com. I then demanded that they either immediately change my room to a room of the type and standard booked by me or immediately cancel my reservation with no charge so that I can go to another hotel. All of a sudden the hotel that had no rooms available had rooms available and she asked if we could check out room 303 on the second floor of the main hotel building was to our liking and if so we can change our room. We checked out room 303 and agreed to the change after wasting nearly 2 hours of our holiday time dealing with lying and obnoxious hotel staff. The new room was quite nice but the toilet very old. The bathtub cum shower is a virtual death trap as it is uneven and slippery with no bath mat. The room had no proper mugs or porcelain cups to have tea but instead had cheap styrofoam cups. No bathrobes or slippers provided as well. The air con could not be regulated and the TV did not have the option to switch audio to English. At check in we also inquired about water taxi charges for the airport drop from the front desk and was quoted Euro 120. The next morning when we double checked we were told by the bald headed manager that it was in fact Euro 110. The day we were leaving we went to book the taxi and was told by bearded Manuel at the front desk that it was Euro 115. When we asked why they were quoting three different rates the guy was very cocky and said he knows all the rates and the manager is in the back of house and doesn't know what he was talking about. Even though it was only 9am he then tried to insist we check out even though we had the room till 1230pm. We said we will check out at the correct time and not at the time he was demanding and proceeded with our morning tour. I think Manuel in Fawlty Towers would do a much better job running the hotel than the bearded Manuel at this hotel, who needs a masterclass in guest relations and communication. Overall a very unpleasant experience in Venice, and certainly not a hotel I would recommend to anyone. Collapse

I like things to be exactly as they are advertised. Fair, open, honest. From the significant number of reviewers rating this hotel as average or below, there are a whole load of people who are dissatisfied with the way this hotel operates and this must surely ring alarm bells for future guests. Personally, I had intended to stay on the mainland and bus in for the two days sightseeing in Venice, so I was delighted to find this hotel in a great central location at what appeared to be an enormous discount on the usual price. The problem was, the room was nowhere like the pictured one, several things didn't work, it was rather dingy and unwelcoming. If I'd paid top dollar and been ripped off like that I'd be absolutely hopping mad. As it was, it wasn't massively expensive, it just wasn't as described, and that is what annoyed me. Rather than go on the hunt round the hotel for a better room, possibly ending up worse off, I accepted what I had been given. I will say, the breakfast was fine, the front of house staff were welcoming, the public areas of the hotel are clean and presentable. Also, I did appreciate the fantastic location. But in terms of things being crystal clear about what guests are going to get for their money, this hotel has a very long way to go. Collapse
