Just before we left for Venice we heard about the terrible weather had for the Carnevale. However, arriving on Valentine's Day the weather had turned from snow, flooding and high winds to brilliant sunshine. The sunshine lasted for our entire five day trip. The hotel we stayed at (Ca dei Conti) is not the easiest to find but it was quiet, luxurious and comfortable. We were offered an upgrade on the room at 40 Euros a night and I decided to take it. The room was fabulous! It really could not have been better! A wonderful and memorable trip overall. Venice is breathtaking. Thank you! Collapse

I had read mixed reviews about this hotel before we stayed so was a bit concerned when we arrived, but we have just returned from a 2 night stay there and I was very pleasantly surprised by our experience, however reading other reviews i think we were lucky. We stayed in room 502 which is off the main building but it was a very large room with a lovely big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and a very comfortable bed. The room also has a small kitchen area and as it was on the ground floor it had a private terrace at the back. Unfortunately we didnt get to use this due to lack of time and weather not being ideal for sitting out. This room was incredibly quiet and away from main streets, the only negative would be the lack of view but with the space available and the terrace that more than compensated. The location was great for reaching all areas easily and we found the staff very helpful and polite. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, very uninspiring and they were very slow to replenish the fresh fruit etc. and there was very little choice. Overall we had an enjoyable and comfortable stay at this hotel and the location was ideal. I would stay again but ensure that I got the room I wanted. Collapse
Ok IF you are in the actual hotel advertised. RUN away from the annex!!

Hotel is decent IF you are in the main building location but not worth more than a couple of hundred dollars per night. 3 stars ONLY because they accommodated us in the main hotel after a day there. My travel agent had talked this hotel up the wazoo and said I had to take this as this was an awesome hotel. I reviewed TripAdvisor and got concerned with all the negative reviews. I allowed the travel agent to book this hotel on condition that I was going to be in the main building which she reassured me of Sure enough when we reach there with the kids at 9:30 pm we are told the main building is full and we have to go to the annex just a few minutes away. I of course lose it knowing fully well what I'm going to get!! Despite raising a hell I was told there was nothing they can do! Hector in the front desk acted as if he could care less and that this is a routine. However he did call Manuel (?supervisor/booking manager) who promised me to get a "upgraded suite" in the main building the next day. I reluctantly agreed and went to the annex for that night. Annex building As described by other reviewers this may have been another old hotel which Ca Dei Conti may have acquired. It looked like a ghost/haunted building especially at night- lights turned on when we walked narrow old corridors. We finally entered a large empty room with 6 other rooms opening in to it. Looked like a breakfast area for morning. The room had an old musty smell on entering but in itself was not bad. It had no view. The absolute worst part was hearing the breakfast utensils sound early am when we woke up and realizing that we can't even open our door without having people look in to our room! I mean who thought it would be a great idea to have hotel rooms open in to a large breakfast area!! Who will pay hundreds of dollars for this!! There are other reviews which are very positive but doubt they are real! Most people don't have bedrooms open in to their own kitchen and if yours does, then welcome home with strangers in your kitchen! The bfast itself was paltry and meager. Made me want to puke and run away from this place as fast as I could. We took our bath and immediately called front desk who assured we will be moved that day. We left and were glad to be told that we were going to be moved to the main building in a couple of hours. Main building Manuel came through with his promise and indeed the room in the main building was very good. Not my taste as it was old world charm kinda thing but at this point I'll take any room to that fake hotel. Even this room opened to a breakfast room (who the hell thinks this is a good idea?!) but at least this room had a covering corridor. My suggestion would be to ask for rooms on the 3rd floor which appeared better. The location of the hotel is good. Near San Marco square. Very walkable even with luggage to San Zaccari taxi station which you can use to and fro the airport. The hotel is a bit tricky to figure out at first but can be easy to walk to if you know how to get to it. Ask the hotel if they can send a picture of their map to you. Don't waste lot of money on private water taxi There are many other hotels which are similar if better priced nearby. I would trust TripAdvisor and go for the 5 star rated hotels and skip this one. I will NOT be staying here if I visit Venice again although appreciate Manuel keeping his promise to get me in to the main building albeit 1 day late. Tips about Venice: Try Rosso Pomo Doro - great pizza place which item suggested. There is a Chinese restaurant nearby if you are fed up of eating Italian every day (for us after 7days of Italian food we were fed up!) Murano is a bit overrated as is Burano but sure do go if you have time. Definitely try the gelato at SuSo -absolutely the best!! Collapse

As a party of four we were not in the main building, but our room was spacious and clean. We had a very pretty view of the gondolas in he canal. The reception clerks were very helpful and suggested some wonderful restaurants. It is a very short walk to St. Marco Square, but far enough to be quiet. The breakfast was typical and did have some gluten free options which was appreciated. I would ask not to have a room adjacent to the breakfast room. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel as it was the cheapest at the time but found it to have a nice room, great breakfast buffet and a great location (being 5 mins away from st. The staff were all very friendly and the receptionists' recommendations of where to eat and drink were spot on! Collapse
