Please read til' the end. Our holiday 09-mar-17 to 16-mar-17. Arriving at the airport feeling optimistic about our one week holiday. Found the transfer driver / congregation of people fairly quickly. He ushered us to the little bus that was waiting for us. Walking across to the bus in the freak heatwave of 30°c plus, the driver puts our Suitcases in the back of the bus. We get on the bus...the driver walks away. We waited. Waited & Waited.... then we're told we were actually waiting for another flight! Any way. We arrive at Maspalomas oasis club, looked ok, we walked into reception where we were greeted by the reception staff in a very 'tired' and 'dated' reception area. He gave us our key and some leaflets for the excursions that are available. Pointed us in the direction of our room and left us to it. We got to our apartment. All hot and bothered by this time as we waited that extra 20 mins in 31°C heat. We opened the door to a hot musty smell. Slightly disapointed with the decor. Two single beds pushed together, bathroom also had a leaking toilet, shower curtain was old and had gone yellow and a window which didn't close. There was only enough hot water for one person. It states that the rooms are cleaned 5 days a week. If you class coming in and sweeping the floor, spraying polish in the air and making the beds, 'cleaning' then I'm sorry but the staff need retraining. There was a can of insect killer left outside our appartment door all week. We unpacked our cases and went to the bar. We had made it in time for dinner that evening too, plenty of choice. Soup, bread rolls, Pork, chicken, beef. Chips. Vegetables.and plenty of salad.. Lots of dessert choice too. this is great we thought. Breakfast was nice on the Friday too. Comes to dinner, before you get to the food hall door, you can smell fish.. muscles, tuna, prawns, white fish in a sauce. There was a chicken curry and rice too.. It absolutely stank. Saturday was fish left overs in a paella. Served cold. It wasn't very appealing. Any way, we walked in Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and walked straight out, our meals were spent else where. Food looks dry, boring and nothing like our first night there. Our cheap all inclusive holiday turned out to be quite expensive. A good percentage of our spending money was spent on food. 'Cheap' alcohol with ridiculous measures so strong it puts you off wanting a drink. When sun bathing, a lovely cool dip in the pool is perfect . Just what you need and if you're lucky enough to get a sun bed that's not in the shade, as people reserve them when it quite clearly states you are not allowed too, The hotel very much caters for Germans. The staff are friendly. You get served at the bar fairly quickly too. The seats and tables are plastic. Looks tacky. Entertainment... not sure we saw any? A fashion show? A lady wrapping a sarong around herself in different ways and they call that a fashion show?? Bingo?? Shakhra Khan... more like animal cruelty. We will not be recommending this place. On the beach list it as a 3* on trip advisor it's listed as a 2*... this place needs a refurbish, bringing into the 21st century and a better menu. Please think twice about booking this place. Hotel quite a way out of Maspalomas but they do provide a bus to the beach several times a day and you can walk if feeling energetic in about 20 minutes. The food has a reasonable choice for all meals but the quality is lacking with labels indicating the main content such as symbols for fish, beef, pork, lamb etc but no names. The pool bar is the only bar for your drinks but you can get served fairly quick with a choice of cocktails. Self service is available for soft drinks, water and coffee etc. Entertainment is typical of Spanish hotels with parrot show, fashion show, bingo and children's disco etc., games are played during the day and entertainment team seem to work hard trying to keep guests happy. Guest whist I was there seemed mostly German and the music at night seemed to mostly for they entertainment but other guests were there from Scandinavian county's as well as France and Holland. The reception area is quite small with only two chairs and one sofa so if you expect to sit somewhere comfy while having a drink you will be disappointed as the only place is by the bar on plastic chairs. Getting to other resorts from the Oasis club is easy with a bus stop just down the road at the roundabout with Puerto Rico $5.40 return and Plays del Ingles $2.80 return. Collapse
Cheap and simple - but definitely good value for money

Before arriving, we didn't expect much based on the reviews we had read. However, the hotel was a nice surprise and great value for money. We traveled as a family with two girls, age 5 and 8. The small size of the hotel was great for the girls, and especially the nice pool area with the heated pool was perfect. The room was simple, but absolutely acceptable; cleaned regularly and everything worked despite the simple and slightly dated state. The restaurant was also better than expected from the reviews, but admittedly neither romantic nor high quality. It definitely served the purpose - and as a cheap all inclusive, it was fine. Plenty of food and a decent selection. The beverages were also fine compared to the price we paid, but especially the self-service machine brewed coffee could be better. We used the entertainment at the hotel most afternoons and one full day where we didn't go on tours outside the hotel. Alfred, the entertainment guy, was great with the kids, and we also enjoyed his easygoing and calm humorous style when participating in various games. Again, nothing fancy, but nevertheless great fun. The best thing for the girls was the evening disco time with a little dancing and some games at the outside bar area (true that there is no indoor areas except the restaurant, but the weather was great). The location of the hotel was suitable for us in a calm area away from the more busy zones; only a 20 minutes walk to a camel ride tour and slightly more to the beach. Also well connected with free buses to the beach, and in addition almost next to public bus stops where several of the free bus services to theme parks stop. We used the free buses to the Sioux City park and the Cocodrilo Park for simple day trips. All in all, we had a great stay in the sun - spend hours in the pool - and had a great family time in a relaxing environment. Collapse
