Just arrived back from a week at the Maspalomas Oasis Club resort (feb 2017) with my wife and 2 teenage kids. After booking this holiday, my wife continued to read some of the reviews on here and we started to get nervous as people have loads of bad things to say........well, we don't have 1 bad thing to say. What a great all inclusive resort! The food was plentiful, varied and very good, from the choice of full English, continental or fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, to the vast amounts of fresh salad available with both lunch and evening meals which offered choices of various meats (chicken/pork/beef), fish, and things such as lasagne every day. The bungalow, although not state of the art modern, was very well kept, clean and tidy. The cleaners come around every other day and do a very good job. The reception staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to help you at all times. The pool area is kept very clean (cleaners around every morning cleaning sunbeds and mopping pool area). The pool bar is located perfectly between the pool and entertainment areas (evening entertainment is not amazing but ok as something to watch). Our kids joined in the daily activities (including air rifle shooting, football, boules etc) as this is geared towards all ages, and the entertainment guy makes sure he caters for all ages. The only slightly negative was maybe the snack bar could be better (burgers/hotdogs in alternate days, and the cake in the afternoon is 1 tray of the same small cakes left on the bar), but as we didn't use the snack bar (due to the main meals being so good and plentiful) this did not matter to us. I cannot believe we only paid £1200 for this holiday (4 people all inclusive). If you are expecting 5 star luxury, this is not for you, but if you are expecting a fantastic holiday at a lovely clean resort with great food and a lovely pool, you cannot go wrong. We will definitely be going back again. Collapse
Yeah we KNOW it's a 2 star!

Huge balcony overlooking the pool, french doors from your bedroom and a shared terrace. These are duplex bungalows however with steep stairs to the bedroom/bathroom (which I managed to slip on but gives you the option of the sun all day round. Location - Not much around but hotel did provide a courtesty bus to beach in Melonaras. Many buses from main road (although we were left to find our own information despite asking). Taxis cheap and cheerful and available from the rank right outside hotel. Hotel - basic, clean but in need of some TLC. Rooms - as above although few broken bits and bobs like drawer and under settee trundle bed. Nothing to write home about but communal areas nice and we had two balconies and a terrace which was great despite our couple of days of bad weather. Pool - lovely and heated, plenty of sunbeds but of course it is February Entertainment - least said Staff Management - Still waiting for you to come and see us, guess it's too late now we're home but we know for sure you were asked to by both reception and our rep who we had to call as Mr Grumpy (below) insisted rather than dealing with our issue. Reception - Good morning Mr grumpy, couldn't wait to see your happy smile. Glad when it was your day off! And as my title suggests, YES WE KNOW ITS TWO STAR but we are allowed to ask questions or tell you about problems that could be easily resolved. Bar - Ok (mostly, depending who was on shift) Restaurant - Most we saw were friendly and helpful Cleaning - Hard working and pleasant Food - Vile even for a 2 star. Selection ok but everything we tried was cold despite us trying to resolve. There was a microwave but I was not reheating everything I was eating from already reinvented AI cuisine! Chips every day - fair enough I guess but no alternative. Snacks advertised were not supplied but rep was told we should have asked for something different? I believe if you had out a leaflet saying what is available then it should be or at least and alternative offered! Collapse

This hotel was very cheap and as you would expect it is a budget hotel in every way; the rooms are tired and dated but they are kept clean (with the exception of the toilet which smells and was brown below the water line). The hotel is away from the resort of Melonaras and a little isolated although there is a supermarket and a couple of bar restaurants which are a few minutes’ walk away. It’s a 20 minute steady walk away to the beach; although there is a free bus a few times a day which takes you most of the way – a taxi costs just over €3.00. An important thing to have in mind especially if you are saying during the winter months that apart from your room there is nowhere to sit other than outside; this means that the only bar is located outside! It got a very chilly on a couple of evenings so it's worth taking a coat. The entertainment is virtually non-existent except for some children's games and “killer pool”. The food was reasonable considering the type of hotel although a little repetitive and some meals basically the same as other days. At a lot of the meals, the only potato option was chips – not all of us want chips every day! There was little of the restaurant service you would expect – the tables weren’t regularly cleaned – it appeared to be more along the line of a fast food restaurant! You got your plate and cutlery – make sure they are clean because not all were. After eating, there was an expectation that you would take your plates etc. to the trolley that was left unattended and sort them into the various containers! The restaurant staff appeared unwelcoming and I felt they would rather not have been there – this contrasted completely to the cleaners and bar staff. In summary, it was a reasonable hotel for the price; would I stay there again – no! Collapse
