We stayed for the weekend with 3 adults and 2 children. We had two twin rooms between us, one with a roll out bed. Positives: - Perfect location for Christmas markets. - The rooms were comfortable with large bathrooms. - Executive lounge was comfortable and food and wine was great. - staff were all quite friendly and helpful - DIY waffles and the omelette at breakfast were a highlight. Negatives: - Check in was very slow but we did arrive after hours. - Breakfast service was appalling. We were not offered any tea or coffee and waited over 15 minutes for a coffee and then left as it didn't arrive. There were clearly not enough staff on both the Sat and Sun mornings when were there. We arrived early in the hotel and were asked to wait 35 before the room is ready...no problem...however all together it took 70 minutes and a very inattentive front office lady who did not actively reached out for us (waited in the lobby), queing in line 3 times asking about the status to find out to wait another 10 - 15 minutes each time. After someone else took over it was decided to move us to another room. BUT sincere apologies were provided and so went to our room with a great view of the Christmas market. It was a rather spacious Junior Suite facing to the front. Good room size, bath room with shower and bath tub separately - very positive. The Hotel itself is in walking distance to the stock exchange, Grand Place and all sights in the city centre district. Nice bar and restaurant, executive lounge very convenient however over-crowded. The Hotel however needs some renovations, old bath rooms, carpets, slow and broken tv (but fixed very quickly) and old elevators etc. It's well maintained but you really see that years have gone by and there are definitely points that need to get some fresh updates. Restrooms near the reception have been dirty all the time we went there. Concierge and security were friendly, greeting warmly and overall the staff is very friendly and you feel welcome. (See one exception at front desk). The ONE very down point....the window in our room (facing the main street) could not be closed completely and we needed to build our own system ;-) ...see picture. I think overall location counts in this case and good property but Marriott definitely needs to update this hotel. Collapse

My wife and I recently stayed here for 5 days while visiting on vacation. We’ve stayed here before and came back because of the great location and great experience we had previously and we weren’t disappointed this time! The hotel is about 20-30 minutes from the BRU airport depending on traffic and costs about 50 Euro for the taxi. Our room was large and had all the nice Marriott amenities with a window that opened overlooking the courtyard. The hotel itself is right across the street from the Grand Platz which is the center of all the activity in Brussels. The Christmas markets opened up and stepping out of the hotel you are right in the middle of the action – all the sites, stores, pubs and the Central Station are easily walkable. The concierge was most helpful looking up a few places in Ghent we wanted to visit and also to give us an umbrella when it rained. The lobby bar and restaurant are fantastic – we noticed many locals who would come in and enjoy it as well which is always a good sign. I would like to mention both Andrei and Katherine who worked the bar every night when we would stop in. They were both so nice, engaging and helpful it was a pleasure to talk to them – they also made the best cocktails! Overall, this is a great hotel in a great location with excellent employees – we will be coming back again next time we are in Brussels. Collapse

The hotel is well positioned in the centre of Brussels old town. It is a 10 or 15 minute walk from the railway station and can be quite difficult at times with a wheelie suitcase over the cobbled streets. Apparently it often takes longer by taxi due to the recent introduction of pedestrianised areas. Good Points: . The reception staff are pleasant, professional and very helpful. . The housekeeping staff are efficient and pleasant. . Room and bathroom were both fine. Bad Points: . The side of the hotel where we were staying suffered from noise of delivery lorries from 5:00 in the morning onwards. . The breakfast room was an ordeal most mornings. It was always crowded and the staff seemed completely unable to cope. . We only called in to the bar in the evening once. The member of staff was again not able to cope and bordering on rude. . The executive lounge staff were very pleasant. However breakfast was not served here in the morning. On one morning when nobody offered us tea or coffee in the breakfast room we thought we would call in to the exec lounge, but it was being used as a luggage store and somewhere to park an airline crew. Wine was only available in the evening from 5:30 to 7:30. Our overall conclusion was that this is not a hotel that we would stay in again. Collapse
