Hotel was ok but looking a little tired needs a facelift!! Room I booked was a deluxe twin - wouldn't have liked to have seen the standard - for the money ok. Staff were great, helpful and polite. Log fire in the bar was great very welcoming. See more

I have been in quite a few hotels but this ranks definitly in the category worst ever. All right we had arrived to early so not able to check... Ok, that is maybe our mistake. But don't put up a show with "let me see what I can do" and disappoint me afterwards. When we got to the room after it was soon clear to us that everything also inside the room is as old as it looks. Worst bed ever! My bed light was broken. There was still rubish in the hallway. And we woke at 6:30 with the fire alarm. Which stopped after about two minutes or so, so no real danger apparently and not a good time for a drill either. The toilet flushes poorly. The furniture in the bar is done for. I am very happy we didn't had to eat here. I was never my intention to sleep here I thought I had booked the lea marston, but upon arrival also thought how bad can it be... Well it was worse. Currently I am still in bed so let's see what else we will find :(. Collapse

Stayed here last week. It’s a bit off the beaten track and if you want to go into town it’s a car or taxi. That said plenty of parking. Booking in was very easy and the lady on reception was super helpful. Two of stayed in a twin room which actually had three single beds. Room was very basic but clean. Whole place could do with a refurb but I would not let it out you off staying at £86 a night for us. Nice restaurant - food was ok but service a little slow. Very relaxed atmosphere and staff very very friendly We didn’t stay for breakfast as thought it was a bit pricey and went to the harvester in route instead. Check out was easy and quick Collapse

My husband and I got married at this cosy hotel last month and had a fab day. Finola is one of the best things that has ever happened to this hotel and I want to give her all the praise possible. Unfortunately when we first booked this hotel as our wedding venue 2 and a half years ago, we were passed from pillar to post due to a high turn over with the events coordinators, resulting in a lack of communication, which then also made us feel slightly nervous about how our big day would pan out. However, on the arrival of Finola earlier this year, all of these worries disappeared. She was so helpful and nothing was too much for her. Finola worked very closely with us to ensure we were happy with how our day would run. She would even reply to my emails out of her working hours, (even though I told her not to) which proves just how much she cares about her job and customers. We could also see that since Finola's arrival, the marquee area has had a nice little 'spruce'. It is very clear that Finola is working extremely hard to transform Brook Marston Farm Hotel into the incredible wedding venue that it should be. The rest of the staff at the hotel were also very lovely and approachable, and did as much as they could to ensure that we had a wonderful day. Nothing was ever too much for them, and they always looked so happy and cheerful. I did feel very sorry for them though as it was quite clear at times that they were rather understaffed, which was a shame. Shout out to the man who we have nicknamed "Manuel" who served us our breakfast on the morning of the wedding. The poor guy appeared to be running breakfast on his own, so the service was slightly slow, but we didn't care, as he was hilarious and really made my last breakfast as a Miss a truly memorable one. Not only was he there for breakfast, but he seemed to be present all day, even until the bar closed at midnight! Clearly a hard worker! I, of course, can't continue this review without also mentioning the lovely manager Ryan! He was present throughout the whole of our wedding day, ensuring everything ran smoothly for us. He was so calm throughout the day, and nothing was a problem for him at all. He was always ensuring that my husband and I were happy with everything throughout the day, and helped us a lot with the set up the day before. He was always on hand when we needed to drop boxes of decorations off prior to the wedding, and he even helped me carry my wedding dress and bags to the hotel room I was stopping in the night prior. So, why only 4 stars? There's just a couple of things that weren't quite right, despite having a fab day: - As previous comments have mentioned, the rooms could really do with some TLC. Despite being huge, clean, comfortable rooms; they were also rather tired with some of our guests' showers not working properly, wall paper coming off the walls, and broken toilet seats. - There seemed to be a little lack of communication between staff members. My bridal party and I were disturbed by room service whilst getting ready for the big day and they made it very clear that they were very confused as to what was going on and why my room hadn't been checked out of yet, even though I had agreed with the hotel that they will deal with my check out during the ceremony. Also, during the wedding reception I had to re-explain how the cake should be served, even though this detail had been covered on our final meeting and was on our paper work. I know it was probably just a way to ensure it was done correctly, and sounds petty, but it would have been nice if I didn't have to deal with this again on the day, when it had been previously discussed. And just one final little thing to do with communication - we had asked that some of the buffet food was plated up and put in our room for my husband and I, as we knew we wouldn't get chance to eat any. This, again, was noted on our paper work during our final meeting, but unfortunately wasn't followed through with. I know it's only a little thing, but I was incredibly hungry when I got back to the room, and it would have been a nice little touch to finish our day with. - There seemed to be a bit of a mix up with some of the rooms for our guests as well, with one of our guests being left without a room and having to drive home, despite confirming their room only a few days prior to arrival. - One last little quibble was that the restaurant bar didn't stay open for our 'night-cap' after the reception, everything was shut down as soon as the DJ finished. This was a real shame as we were all looking forward to retiring to the snug after dancing, which was mentioned on booking the venue and in our paper work. Despite these quibbles, we still had a lovely day, and are still very happy that we chose Marston Farm as our wedding venue, as it was perfect for the intimate, relaxed wedding that we were looking for. It really is in a lovely setting and is very good value for money. Thank you to all staff for making our day truly memorable. Collapse
