I have stayed here before and booked again a couple of nights before my planned stay on 11th June. Turned up and reception could not find booking. They checked and it appeared booking was for 9th July instead. Now whether the Marriott website which I booked on had an error or whether it was my error I cannot be certain but they would not allow me to switch the date and I ended up booking another room for the night and not being able to cancel the 9th July. I think thats pretty mean and unprofessional. I decided to write or call in as I had an urgent meeting that night so couldn't be bothered to get all annoyed at reception. Today I called and asked that I change the date to 6th of July because I could make another business trip. Receptionist went away and asked management. Answer = No because of T's and C's That in my view is a very poor management decision. Yes they will take my room fee for the 9th but they won't get my booking now on the 6th July or any date thereafter when I am in Bristol. In fact I will not now book whilst on business travel abroad either with the Marriott group. How petty and mean especially as it would have been simple to swap the booking and even at an increased rate. They will now lose a few thousand pounds because of their poor customer relations. We visited this hotel for drinks and a formal dinner. It was a lovely place to be with great decor, character and service. Built from lovely stone by a Bristol merchant, the architecture is beautiful and Marriott have fitted it with great style. You get waiter service in the comfy bar. In the Palm Court restaurant we had an excellent dinner in a spacious room. Collapse

I would like to highlight Franklin's soft skills and very professional understanding about Marriott brand image. He acts always very professionally and treats customer with a smile. I am surprised how he manages to remember every customers lastname and name. This obviously makes your visit at this hotel more welcome and nicer and not just because you are gold or platinum member. Yet, it's worth highlighting that every customer is met with in a very professional manner. You can say that He will go far! I have a very great respect for this hotel and its management to select the right people and maintain high level of quality of service and excellence standards. Collapse

I stayed here on business as it came recommended by other work colleagues. I was not disappointed at all. A grand hotel that has retained much of its historic character. The staff are so polite and friendly, especially in the dining rooms and bar. They make you feel as though nothing is too much. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. Above all they are quiet, just what you need after a long business day. The room service menu is great should you not wish to go to the main restaurant for dinner. Fast, fresh and very tasty. The only 2 downsides are the car park, it's in the bowls of the hotel. Tight parking bays and the walk to reception is epic and through some grime grey concrete jungle type pillars. But you forget all that once you have checked in and in your room. The other is no free wifi, really in this day and age. It's not cheap, luckily my company paid as I needed it for work, but, come on. So, if you are looking for a great city centre hotel with character, charm and great service, this is the one. Collapse
