A very nice hotel. It's less than 10 minute walk from the Geneva train station and it is right in the middle of Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton, so you know the location is good. You walk 10 minute and you will be right at the heart of the tourist area in Geneva and the old town. The room is spacious, clean and well equipped. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is tasty and no long queue. The only shortcoming is the shower glass is a bit short so you have to be careful in order not to spill water on the floor. If you want to stay in Geneva, this is a very good choice. Collapse

Hotel Bristol is a nice hotel. I don't have any superlatives, because I didn't find anything outstanding. The staff is pleasant, the room is nice, the bar is fine. We didn't eat at Bristol, so can't comment on the food. The hotel is located in a very busy area--many, many hotels, businesses, restaurants, and close to one of the boat/ferry docks. We left our windows open several times at night but had to close them, because the noise from the traffic at 3am was still too loud to bear (even on a Sunday night). Hotel Bristol has a nice gym on the lowest floor. There are also two dry saunas--one of them called a "bio sauna," and a regular dry sauna. I had to look up bio sauna--it's a thing. This is what I found out about it online: "The bio-sauna is the modern alternative to the traditional Finnish sauna and was designed to bring the sauna to all those who suffer from high temperatures. The bio-sauna is a sauna with humid atmosphere with a maximum temperature of about 50/60° C and a moisture in a range of 60/70%. The difference between the Turkish bath (with a saturation humidity near/close to 100%) is the fact that in the bio-sauna coexists in equilibrium (50° C Humidity = 50% - 60% °C.) HEAT and DRY WET as to make the practice of the sauna very pleasant and comfortable. It “captures" the female users who generally poorly tolerate the high temperatures and all those who suffer from low blood pressure, varicose veins and fragile capillaries." (from the Finlandphilosophy dot com website) There is also a steam sauna (they call it a Hammam) with small star-like lights in the ceiling, which I really liked. The jacuzzi is small, clean, not terribly hot, and the jets were not powerful. There is a relaxation room with a few lounge chairs, and separate men's and women's (small) locker rooms. The décor inside the rooms is more traditional; the lobby floor has nice carpet and furniture. There is an unpleasant smell, as if from a sewer, right beyond the front desk and before the elevators. Not sure what that is. Hotel Bristol is not as expensive as the Four Seasons across the street, or the Hotel de la Paix Geneva (and surely not as nice). If you want a nice hotel in a central area where you can get to the boat, walk to the tram or train stations, and try many different restaurants without having to get a taxi, then Bristol should work for you. The location is great, just near the lake. 5 minutes walk to the rue de marche (main shopping street), and to the old town. At the side, there are dozens of good restaurants to eat. Close to public parking. I have stayed at a deluxe room, quite big. A little bit out dated but very comfortable. Staff is very helpful and nice. Breakfast is nice enough for a 4 star hotel. You can reach to the hotel by uber for 30chf in 10 minutes from the airport (without traffic) The only negative thing about the hotel is the housekeeping staff. When I checked in there was one bottle of complimentary water on the desk, my wife open and drank it. At the same time housekeeping knocked the door and I want one bottle more. She said "you have in the fridge, drink that one". I said ok . It is not the Swiss hospitality that I get used to. Furthermore, they did not say hi or good morning when you faced them in the corridor. Anyways, except this everything is great. Collapse

Overall my stay at the Hotel Bristol was pleasant. I stayed for 8 nights in August but the longer I stayed the more I noticed a lack of attention to detail. The room was small and faced the courtyard but had everything you need including a small refrigerator that came in handy when going to the grocery store for food and drinks. Among my various complaints to the staff were a screw that protruded from the floor between the carpet and tile, a scale that didn't work (the next two didn't either), soap that was never replaced, a laundry slip that had been filled out in May 2016 (over a year ago) and the shirt I did have cleaned came back folded instead of on a hanger like I clearly marked on the slip. All of these are somewhat small and one could argue, not that important. However, housekeeping one some days would enter my room three times to make the bed and do whatever else they did. One would think that almost of these would have been noticed by now. Their lack attention to detail was surprising to me. The front desk did little about my complaints. They listened, apologized and we went on with our lives. Which left me feeling like they didn't really care that much about what I had to say. The gym was small and somewhat equipped with some free weights and a smith machine. The breakfast is expensive at 38 Franc. The elevators are unique and small. The location is superb. Collapse
