The Good: The hotel/apartment is located next to a grocery store. The Bad: Old. No coffee maker. No washing machine. The beds are just the right the right type of granite for an uncomfortable sleepless night. No masseuses on property to treat the former sleepless nights aches. Wifi is 1euro per device per 8 hours. Hotel computers cost 4euros per hour. Gym use cost 3euros per person per use. Bathroom doorknob fell off. The Ugly: Paid 6 nights in advance, highly unusual. Daughter became ill and considered leaving 2 nights early. The highly trained and experienced manager, Joao Jose, or JJ as he preferred, informed me repayment for time not used was not possible. As we spoke, the telephones were ringing and customers were at the reception desk. JJ pointed out to me how busy the hotel is and how desirable the rooms are. My question was if there was such a desirability, my room should be easy to rent if we chose to leave the property early. Impossible JJ told me, and he provided me some pearls of wisdom. He told me I should know how long I intended to stay and pay for that duration. Apparently, we were the first family in the long and distinguished hotel career of JJ to ever have an issue facilitating an early departure. My daughter recovered and we decided to stay, however, the relationship between the staff and I seemed a little strained. When I next paid my 3 euros to use the gym, the gentleman behind the desk trapped the card necessary for access on the counter under his hand until he was certain the 3 euros were there in full. His body language was less than friendly. Strongly recommend another hotel closer to the beach. All the additional costs from the Brisasol will end up costing what a nice hotel would. Collapse

We (four adults) stayed at Brisa Sol during half term (23rd-30th October 2016). We booked with Jet2 Holidays as a package. We stayed in a one bedroom, self catering apartment with a pool view; which we paid extra for. I have given this review 4/5 because I feel that a couple of things could be improved. Firstly the wifi is only available at €1 for 8 hours which in a 4* hotel should possibly be free or at least for 24 hours. There are lots of bars in the old town which will give you their wifi password if you ask nicely :-) Secondly there is a gym, jacuzzi, steam room etc but these are €3 per day, per person to use which again in a 4* hotel I feel should be included in the cost. Finally the self catering equipment is lacking. A kettle, toaster and two hobs with a couple of pans are provided but an oven or even a freezer in the fridge would be useful as we could only cook pasta dishes for lunches or make sandwiches. Aside from those things, the hotel is lovely. Our apartment was very spacious, no complaints there! Two TVs with plenty of English channels. Spotlessly clean and the cleaners were in daily or at least 5 days out of 7! The pool area is well kept, plenty of sunbeds with comfy mattresses and a pool bar. The pool is ideal for non swimmers as there are two splash pools and the main pool is gradual entry via steps. The hotel doesn't have entertainment but that wasn't a problem for us. Not sure if they do in summer? There is a hotel bar and restuarant but they were both very quiet but that is probably the time of year we visited. The location of the hotel we didn't find ideal, it was at least a 30 minute walk to The Strip and a 15 minute walk to the old town and a steady uphill walk back, but maybe there are shortcuts which we didn't discover. However there is a land train for €4 per person for unlimited 24 hour travel so we used that a couple of times. There didn't appear to be many bars or restaurants in the immediate area unless you wanted McDonalds, KFC or Pizza Hut. There is a huge Continente supermarket next door which sell almost everything! There are some lovely eataries in the old town along with some lively entertainment..just be wary of the drink prices as we got caught out a couple of times...cheap food and extortionate drinks. We took a taxi to Algarve Shopping Centre in Guia which was €20 return which is an okay day out if it's raining or you want branded shops. We also took a taxi to Vilamoura which was €40 return and this was a lovely walk around the harbour but perhaps take a pack up unless you want McDonalds as the average meal was around €15, however you could perhaps eat cheaper if you go off the beaten track. Now for the weather... we were dubious whether to risk October or not due to mixed reports of the weather being cold... well the first day it was about 15c and it poured with rain, thundered for around 12 hours... but the further 5 days were warm, around 25c! A couple of overcast days but we still managed to burn! Definately warm enough to lay by the pool and to wear shorts. On an evening it comes cooler but a cardigan is more than enough. Last but not least...the cake shop next door!! A must visit during your trip! €4.40 for two huge pieces of cake! On a very final note, many places in the old town did say they were closing down for the season until March from October 30th including the hotel snack bar. The land train also drops to a minimal service so be cautious of this if you go after October 30th. All in all, we would definately visit again and stay at this hotel. Collapse

Booked 2 x 1 bed apartments at this hotel One room was acceptable the other stunk of damp on approaching the manager he didn't want to know but did relictantly send the cleaners to spray some air freshener around shame they went to the wrong room though My son was in the stinky room and on the 2nd night the door jammed so he couldn't get out he couldn't even use the patio doors as these were unopeneable ( even Thomson didn't care about this issue of safety for there customer) The manager sent a member of staff to try and open the door and between them both he was able to get out We asked for a different room and after a while they found another room at least it wasn't smelly and the door actually worked Food in this hotel is discussing it's more like a works canteen with sullen staff who obviously didn't enjoy there jobs and would go out of there way to be rude and then use the excuse of I not understand The whole experience was not one I would like to have again The manager and his staff have to be the most rude and unapproachable people I have ever met On checking out we were not even asked if we had enjoyed our holiday it was just hand back door key and then ignored It would seem if you complain then you are ostracised for the remaining holiday Thank goodness for the supermarket next door and lots of restaurants If staying at this ????hotel I would suggest room only basis (s/c) save your money and eat out don't use the canteen or as they say restaurant Collapse

Found these apartments to be greatly located walking distance to old and new town and has a little train stop outside that connects both towns aswel. Had the buffet breakfast one morning wasnt a fan but room was lovely and clean and wed a lovely sea and pool view. Found the sun lounger situation annoying as they were always taken at like 8oc in morning by sun worshippers. Ideal for families or couples. Only complaint was the wifi would not work for us when we bought the passwords. Collapse

We had booked this hotel twice for Xmas and New Year months in advance and were let down twice due to overbooking. The second time was 8 weeks before travel, making it difficult to find somewhere else. Book somewhere more reliable.
