Bridge Street Townhouse offers an excellent location, however the rooms we stayed in was very small, which wasn't too much of a problem as we weren't in it that much however the very thin walls and guests who had TV on late and then again early in morning and the noisy street outside did mean our night's sleep was disturbed throughout the night so for this reason we would not book again (not really the hotel's fault). Chester has a lot to offer in terms of shopping, restaurants, bars and pubs particular mention to chefs table, Fiesta Havana and ye old King Head pub. The only downside to our visit was it wasn't long enough! Collapse

I stayed at the Bridge Street Townhouse with a group of friends - we all agreed that the rooms were a really good size for 3 people sharing and the beds were extremely comfy! The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating, letting us check in early as the rooms were ready. I left a dress in the wardrobe and they let the person who booked it for us know after we departed before I had even realised and posted it back to my home address...over and above the call of duty! Lovely Location but overpriced and uninspiring

We were in a group of six and booked 3 twin rooms. Two of them were very nice but the third one was tiny with tiny beds. We did query this and we got moved to a better room so that helped. They prices were very high as it was the races (we weren't aware of this) and we definitely didn't get what we paid for. We got travel lodge rooms at boutique prices. If we had paid less I would have rated it higher but I really don't feel we got our money's worth. Nothing wrong, just nothing to justify the high price. Good location though... Collapse

Arrived at the hotel about 12pm,The man on reception checked us in and gave us the key to our room. The room was quite basic but clean.I did find the lighting in the room very poor,no main light only dim lamps. Not great if you are trying to put on make up.We were booked in for 3 nights.During our stay, there wasnt anybody on reception very often.nobody to serve at the bar.The whole time we very rarely saw any staff and if there was someone on reception, they never spoke to you.We sat in the bar area for over half an hour waiting for staff to appear so we could order a coffee. The only staff that spoke to us with a cheery smile were the cleaners in the morning. Thank-you ladies for keeping our rooms clean and tidy. The hotel itself was very clean.I have never stayed anywhere where the customer service was this bad.On the morning we checked out,We had to wait for someone to appear on reception,We handed him our key,he said thank-you,Not once did he ask if we had enjoyed our stay,or have a safe journey.Based on the customer service or lack of i wouldn't stay again or recommend it. We stayed one night in this hotel, the check in went smoothly, but to our disappointment, they informed us we could not park in their empty car park, we had to go to the NCP car park in town. This was rather annoying and cost us another £10 on our booking. It should have been £16, but they gave us a discount card to use. I suppose if you wanted to look around Chester the next day, it would be value for money because you get 24 hours. We had to get off in the morning so not much use to us, but we could have had a full day in Chester because our parking ran out at 7pm. Their car park appears to be for staff, but we only saw about 3 cars in it the next morning and it has at least 12 spaces. So a bit frustrating! We stayed in the annexe building and the room was ok, but on the small side. The bed was comfortable, but the TV was placed in the corner at a funny angle, not great for watching. The bathroom was fine, with a good shower and clean towels. The main problem with this room is the window blinds let in a lot of light, not great if you like a darkened room to sleep in. The walls are very thin too, a party of girls arrived back, drunk about midnight and we heard every word they were saying and again in the morning when they were getting up, not right impressed with that! I guess from the way this hotel is marketed I expected a really comfortable stay. We went to a wedding the previous night, in Haydock and stayed in a bog standard hotel, that we had reservations about staying in, but ironically we had a more comfortable stay there, their room was very spacious, with thick curtains to block out the light and we did not hear any noise from the adjoining rooms. I suppose it depends what you expectations are before you embark on your stay. We choose this hotel because it looked characterful and a bit more upmarket than some, but in reality it was just a bit better than a Travel Lodge. The breakfast in the morning is continental and that consisted of cereal, canned fruit and yogurt pots, toast, ham and cheese and packet croissants. Not the best if I am to be honest. Overall I would say this hotel looks better on the booking sites, than it is, it’s not terrible, just very middle of the road and I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it to others either. My friend brought this hotel to my attention because she was thinking of staying here; I have now told her to look elsewhere. Maybe if we had not stayed in the annexe building, we might have had a different experience, they may well have different rooms. I won't be going back to give it another go though. Collapse

This hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance of many of the traditional tourist sights. Be sure you walk to the river and enjoy the ancient architecture and the many birds, including blue herons. As an American, I appreciated the Hickory's Chester restaurant overlooking the water. Excellent food and fun atmosphere. The town center is very close as well. The staff could not have been more helpful. I would have liked more lighting in the room and more ventilation. Everything else was good. The room was very well appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Wifi was free and worked well. The breakfast offered a good variety of food, although there was not a "hot, cooked to order" offering. Collapse
