Stayed here for two nights on a business trip to Surrey. It was a last minute trip and there was a reduced price on the 'Deluxe' rooms which made it good value. The room was nice - good size, but with a surprisingly small bathroom. Nice views over the river (only deluxe rooms get this privilege). There is lots of free parking on site. The staff were lovely but not well trained - the service in the restaurant was a bit hit and miss. Which takes us to the food - it's very poor! Don't bother with breakfast! It's overpriced even at the 'discounted' rate if you buy in advance. And if you fancy a beer and good food, take the 15 min walk into Chertsey (yes - this place is out of town!) and go to the Crown hotel - they also have rooms at the Crown - I'd stay there next time I'm down this way. Nice and clean. Good quality for price

My partner and I stayed here after spending the day at Thorpe Park for my birthday. We booked a deluxe room and stayed in room 208. We had an amazing view of the river and double doors opening to a little Juliet balcony. The bathroom was spotless and included a shower over a bath. I think it would be better to either get a larger bath, or completely remove it and have a nicer walk-in shower, as we didn't use the bath and I imagine many other people don't either. We arrived at the hotel around 5pm, and was greeted warmly by the receptionist. We didn't have dinner in the hotel, so we walked into the town to get a takeaway. The hotel is very quiet and could not hear anything outside of our room, which was a real treat as we were very tired at this point. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. We booked via Booking.com, and it was offered at £19, which we found to be absurdly expensive. Checkout was at 11am, which was great as we wanted to sleep in. Overall, we found the hotel to be very pleasant, plenty of free parking available and only a 5-10 minute drive from Thorpe Park. Collapse

My wife and I just completed a 1-night stay as we are hiking the Thames Path Trail. From that perspective, the hotel is in the perfect location as it is right on the Thames and a scant 200 metres off the trail. Check-in was easy (staff was friendly and helpful), the room was clean, the shower was hot, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. So all of that was as expected. On the down side, our Junior Executive Suite was right on top of the busy bridge road that runs next to the hotel, so there was serious road noise all night. The back of the room looked out over the bar deck, so whilst it was a non-smoking room, cigarette smoke was wafting up into the room. This was made worse because there was no air conditioning, and on a warm summer day, having the windows open was a MUST. And to even get to the room, we had to walk through the restaurant and out a back door, which seemed quire odd. There was instant coffee/tea and a tea kettle in the room. The bathroom fixtures were up-to-date, but the rest of the room furnishings definitely need a refresh (old and fairly worn). Breakfast (included in the room rate at an extra 10 GBP per person) was a basic self-serve affair, and staff did not have it set up at the advertised 0800 opening time. Thankfully, we did not have a tight travel connection to try to make. Dinner the night before in the hotel restaurant (The Boat House, restaurant, reviewed separately) was a definite disappointment. BOTTOM LINE - I wasn't looking for a 4-star experience, but for 118 GBP I was expecting more. If I were to recommend this hotel to a friend or fellow hiker, I would make sure to make sure their expectations were properly managed. For 50 GBP I would have been happy, but the weekend price does not reflect what we got. Collapse

Yes, that bad (eg.he was telling the specials of the day and we were trying to decide what to have, he felt like interrupting us rudely saying that we are not listening!!). The breakfast next morning we had the "pleasure" of being served by the same person, ordered three omelettes, only one came, we had to remind again for the rest, eventually after approx 45 mins we got them, one of them looked like it was dropped on the floor and put back on the plate (which was probably the case), it was the most disgusting meal I have ever tasted in my life. To end the experience on the same note, at check out we were requested to pay for a 6th room which we have had cancelled before. Eventually he realised that was a mistake. In the end all I can say is that none of our party will come back to this establishment. Collapse
