For the second year running we had our Christmas party here. Last year it was good fun. This year however, it was awful. I know it is an old building but the loud creaking floor boards, constantly running water down the toilet, leaking luke warm shower and the over loud and patronizing receptionist, made for a poor and disappointing experience. This is not mentioning the bordering on uneatable food served as dinner. The chicken was cold and tasteless and the vegetables were over microwaved. The only half decent food on the plate were the roast potatoes (and all I ate). We hoped breakfast would be better and on the hole it was. Except we were not offered toast and the full English came without black pudding (but was listed in the menu) and only one slice of one mushroom. For a hotel of this type (and cost) its fair to expect and receive better. Collapse

Included in a friends birthday meal/ drinks and having used spa previously thought it’d be a great night. Package two of the Christmas party night (the joy of a Dec birthday!) on arrival was greeted by very friendly staff, coat taken etc and sent to bar area. Very nice. Then shown through to table/disco area, not very nice! No table decs, approx 9 tables and ours was the only one that had men on it! Rest were all female only tables, quite awkward. Food very very sub standard, vegetable filo was so dry it was very difficult to eat. Casinos tables of roulette and blackjack were actually 2 tables hidden in the very cold basement, too small for the 100 or so people to all get a turn. Disco was good fun. Midnight struck and all waiting eagerly for the promised bacon rolls... instead the bar closed!! Asked manager on duty, said no bacon rolls promised, couldn’t find menu to show him, he was really sweet but still didn’t solve the missing bacon roll issue! Such a shame as was planning an overnight spa with my husband as a Christmas gift and this night out really put me off £120 for both of us excluding drinks and I feel it wasn’t worth half of that. Inexperienced manager ruins the night

We booked one of their Christmas party nights for our company, a party of 9 people aged 30 to 50. It turns out that over 50% of the people at the Christmas party were for there for an 18th birthday party, in itself no problem and we experienced no issue whatsoever as a result. We had booked a Christmas party package which was due to finish at 1am. The first issue was when certain drinks were not available as ‘they had a big party the night before’ which meant they had run out of the drinks in question, really! Go out and get some more... The main issue occurred when it was suddenly announced that the bar was closed at 12.30 without notice. It transpires that someone had been ill in the lounge, and somebody else had an issue ‘falling’ on the stairs which had panicked the manager (Charles) into stopping the consumption of alcohol to absolutely everybody in the hotel. He also explained that a similar issue with somebody falling the evening before had had a bearing on his decision, a second legacy of the previous evening it seems, and perhaps somehow the building has suddenly become unsafe in the previous 24 hours. I told Charles that we were overnight guests and requested a drink to be sent to the room. He was quite clear, having been asked twice, that alcohol was off limits to every single guest in the hotel because of these isolated incidents. Charles, despite the fact that your chain will no doubt back you up when I contact them on Monday, you need to take responsibility for booking a party for 18 year olds on what you clearly billed as a Christmas party celebration and then panicking when things don’t go to plan. I have stayed in several thousand hotels and your ‘knee jerk’ judgement is by far the worst I have ever seen. Poor management all round and I will be escalating the matter through your company. My other half and I stayed at the Brands Hatch Hotel and Spa the night before a driving experience at Brands Hatch. We turned up (despite my sat nav doing its best to confuse us) and found that there were no spaces directly outside but they have ample parking around the grounds. We were greeted by Lewis who was very polite, helpful and who gave us a brief orientation of the hotel. We had a lovely dinner however I was disappointed to learn that it was a festive only menu, it was very well done but I would have liked to have known that beforehand (was looking forward to a lovely steak!). Our night made a turn for the worse around 9:30. A mass of bass coming from a Christmas party going on downstairs which was unbearable. After ringing reception Lewis was once again on hand to move us to a quieter room (however rowdy patrons were still far too loud but I can't fault the hotel for that!). Breakfast was a very nice mix of cold and hot options and set us up for the day! I recommend the Eggs Benedict. Overall a very nice experience with very friendly staff, I can't emphasize how helpful Lewis was, just a lack of communication even when I rang to confirm that morning! An annoyance considering the cost involved. Highly recommend providing no parties are on!!! Collapse

The hotel is set in its own ground, a little out of the way but a charming facade hiding quite a large venue. The staff were some of the best i have ever come across from reception, bar staff spa and special notice of the girls working breakfast nothing was to much trouble. The room was not the biggest but spotless and fitted with quality fittings super comfy bed. We used the pool and steam room which were both lovely. Breakfast was superb Eggs Benedict and full English well cooked and good quality produce. One criticism bar prices are a bit on the silly side £16 1 pint and 1 glass of wine. All in all top place to stay Collapse
