We went for the Prosecco Afternoon tea. The decor is badly in need of refurbishment. My mum wanted a glass of sherry, but not available. My husband wanted low alcohol beer, but they didn't have it. One glass of white wine, one J2o and one dry martini came to over £15. When my brother and his partner arrived at reception, they were ignored because of phone calls. The sandwich and cakes were very nice and the waiter was very good too. We had expected the hotel to be of a similar standard to Nutfield Priory of the Rhinefield Hotel, both of which are beautiful, but it is not. Collapse

We went to this hotel and spa for my daughters hen weekend. 15 of us! The rooms were adequate with tea making facilities. The bed was comfy and the staff friendly. A private dining room was set up for us and the staff were quite attentive without being intrusive. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their treatment in the spa although I found it far too hot - but then that’s probably just me. The food was very good although portions a little on the small side. Could do with a bit of updating and made a bit brighter but over all not bad. Collapse

Stayed at the Brandshatch Place Hotel recently after a visit to the race track. We were allocated room 37 (avoid) which is quite a trek from reception - up one flight of stairs and down another - map required! The room was very nice as were the spa facilities which I briefly visited. Other than the maze like test to find the room the other flaws were - 1) Very small bar area which when manned by one member of staff with a wedding on is not acceptable. 2) Ridiculously small portions at dinner. I had sea bass and received one small fillet with one boiled potato and meagre vegetables. 3) Poor breakfast - bacon cooked ages ago, undercooked eggs and tea stewed in the pot for far too long. For over £250per night (D, B & B) this place is not good value. Collapse
Great value but a few small niggles

I booked a stay here last minute as a treat for my 18 year old daughter. We arrived on Sunday at around 1pm. Check in was not until 3pm so we went to use the spa facilities. The spa is very nice and well equipped. We ate lunch here costing £37 for sausage and mash, club sandwich and two glasses of wine. After lunch we checked into the hotel. The receptionist was very young but really helpful and you could tell she wanted to make your stay a pleasant one. Our executive double room was on the first floor. Very spacious with a sofa bed writing desk, side table and chairs, built in wardrobe and double bed. Large flat screen TV, DVD player, pod coffee machine, tea making facilities, heated towel rail and bathroom products. Not forgetting the hotel robes. We were unable to book any treatments at the hotel as they were fully booked for both the Sunday and Monday but the facilities were great and we spent a lot of time in the relaxation room with dim lighting, soft music and relaxation beds and blankets. That evening we ordered a pizza and watched movies in our room. We heard no noise from the other guests and slept well in the comfortable double bed.Breakfast was good but we waited at least 5 minutes to be seated in the restaurant. There are cold meats, cereals, breads etc. Then you can order anything from the menu, effectively making up your own breakfast. Checkout is at 11 and after this we went back to the spa to make the most of the facilities. I used the gym and fitness centre which are basic but good. I have a few negative comments that if addressed would make this experience a great one rather than a good one. 1. I asked at the spa for some of the hotel walking/running routes and was told that the hotel reception have these but I could go on a trail run through the woods which is signposted. When I asked at the hotel reception for the routes I was directed back to the spa reception (There needs to be more communication between these two). As a result of this I went out for an early morning run to only get lost in the woods which was not signposted. 2. I purchased some drinks from the spa restaurant but hadn't taken any money so went to use Apple pay. I was informed that they do not have contactless so wanted to have it charged to my room. As I hadn't taken my key card wallet indicating what room I was in I was unable to do this so had to go all the way back to my room in my robe to get some money. Invest in contactless payment please. 3. We waiting a long time to be seated at breakfast but was seen standing there. I ordered eggs Benedict which the menu said came with ham hock. I received carvery ham with this meal and was not told this would be the case. 4. After getting lost in the woods my trainers were very muddy and I wanted to use the gym. I asked at reception if the had boot brush or wiper to be told they didn't have one. This surprised me considering the rural surroundings. I then had to clean my trainers with toilet tissue. 5. The hotel advertise that you can use DVDs in their collection. Not one of these is any more recent than 7 years old..... Please update this collection. Despite all of these niggles, I would definitely return to the hotel and recommend to others Collapse
Stop over with my team

Lovely picturesque hotel. Just what you'd expect from 'hand picked'. Food is lively although perhaps a bar meal option would have been more appropriate for my group. Rosette standard dining was a little OTT for a Monday night.
