Being a Marriott Platinum Elite member for a number of years I've stayed in Marriott hotels all around the world. Never before have I encountered such shoddy service. It's a shame as the hotel location and facilities are brilliant. There were one or two encounters with helpful staff but for the most part the staff were rude and discourteous. We had to leave the hotel by 7am to catch a ferry from nearby Poole Harbour. Breakfast was included in the rate (normally priced at £16.95 per person) but we were told that we could not have breakfast as the restaurant did not open until 7am. I therefore opted for room service as that was served from 6am. However, I could not find the room service door hanger in the room.... turns out there was not one for me to fill in. Rang down and one was sent up. Next issue, no pen in the room. Rang down again and a pen was sent up. Breakfast order was placed on the door at 2230 before going to bed. Woke up at 6am expecting the have breakfast delivered only to find the room service card still hanging from the door. This is odd as someone had come to our room through the night and managed to slip to bill under the door but not take the breakfast order. Went down to enquire and was told to follow a staff member to the restaurant to see if they could in some way fit us in 06:40. We were again told NO, even though most of the buffet had been laid out. Eventually after much discussion we were let in as long as we didn't eat any hot food (which again by this time had been laid out ready for the 7am opening time). When we asked for a coffee we were told there was an extra charge on top of the £16.95. So in summary we were let in reluctantly, told we could not eat the hot food that was sitting there and that the £16.95 per person charge did not cover coffee. The staff at this hotel should spend some time at other Marriotts to see how one is run in the interests of serving the customer's requirements. Collapse

Great setting overlooking the super beach but this hotel is lucky to be described as four star. I was staying in the back part, in a separate building, lacking charm and rather tired in its decor (a wheezy lift, window latches from a generation ago, creaky doors and a corporate-function air downstairs). The buffet cooked breakfast was barely lukewarm and the reception desk operation was a bit shoddy, staff forgetting I had ordered newspapers and showing little glunt of recognition at second and third encounters. Couldn't fault it!

Had a lovely break here. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was amazing loads of choice with the continental and cooked breakfast. Swimming and the amenities were looking a little tired just hope that will be the next thing to be updated in the hotel. The rest of the hotel was beautiful and felt so relaxed last night in the bar over looking the sea. Will definitely be back. Collapse

Stayed at the Marriott Highcliffe Bournemouth in December last year and it was going through a refurb of bar and dining areas. This time all was complete and was very impressed. Nice classy decor in keeping with the history of the hotel and immaculate. Dinner was great (fillet steak) and nice selection at breakfast. Bottle of water in fridge appreciated along with free drink at bar upon arrival. No exec lounge but free breakfast in leui as am Gold card holder. Room fine with nice sea view but a bit warm so opened windows as the air con was a bit noisy even with ear plugs. Staff friendly and efficient. Didn't use the pool this time but good yo have the option. Was good standard first time around. Thanks v much - J.Blanch Marriott Rewards Gold Collapse

I went to the Marriott specifically to gain a massage from a pro, I asked for a neck and back massage despite paying for a full body, the girl was demure and polite however, I has specifically requested firm focus on shoulders and neck on paper and discussed this on the way to the room. Sadly what I got was her fingertips rubbing parts of back bone with zero firm grip. Perhaps the wrong person was chosen, I wasn't in a place to make comments on her lack of skill for the role but I left feeling foolish for opting in, definitely feel like I need another massage after this waste of an hour and £55. The hotel itself has a great view but the massage is sadly lackluster. Such a shame Collapse
