Spent three days here in June and drove to the Jurassic coast. I am a Marriott platinum member so I stay at Marriott properties frequently. The entire experience from the front desk to the service to the cleanliness of the rooms is not up to Marriott standards. The hotel is "tired" and in need of a renovation. Our shower had mold, which was corrected after I called and voiced concern. On a positive note they just opened a new restaurant the day we left which appears to be a step in the right direction Collapse

Just returned after a 1 night stay would not recommend for families at the moment as air conditioning in Dorchester wing doesn't work and for breakfast the room is not easily accessible with pushchairs and the choice of food isn't what I expected from a Marriott when checking out I complained about air conditioning and dirty towels which were never changed they did reduce the bill but was not completely satisfied and the day got worse as we sat round the outdoor pool which is a bit tired looking there was no bar staff all day and if you wanted a drink you had to wait till the hotel bar opened at 1 when you have young kids it's not good enough also the kids were constantly being asked not jump or splash in the pool not just my kids but every child Enjoying there selves with elderly members even saying let them enjoy it it's only water But the staff were relentless in the end I had enough and left before I wanted so if you are looking for a family hotel in Bournemouth avoid the Marriott Collapse

Air-con did not work on first night in very hot UK weather. Hotel looked a little bit tired. Staff inattentive at breakfast. The breakfast fruit bowl was pathetically inadequate. There was enough fruit salad for about 6 people on display. The display was poor. I had to clear my own plates and twice had to go and get my own coffee as no waiters were interested. The outdoor decor around the pool was not impressive as befitting the Marriott name. The indoor pool and wet area were good. The price differential for a Saturday night versus a Friday night was ridiculous - over £100 for the same smallish room. Collapse

I never had to work so hard to try to enjoy myself at a resort hotel. I am happy with basic Marriott Standards, HVAC, a restaurant, a bar/lounge to sit in after a busy day out and people watch, and basic service and cleanliness. It's just so hard to know where to start here. These standards were not in place. First they are undergoing a major renovation. We did not know this at the time of booking. You walk in to find the restaurant/bar closed, the paint stripped from the walls in the entry and a very tired looking facility. I did expect some Victorian quirkiness but not this mess. Next, 4 or 5 of the staff are really capable, but beyond that ,they have a lot of staff from a variety of countries with poor English and a lack of skills (or experience with Western culture) to know what is expected. One night we went though the outside parking lot to the catering facility (you must leave the hotel and go to another place for food) for dinner. The first night was OK. But another night we sat down and ordered a bottle of wine. The wine glasses were dirty and had to be sent back. It was a little hard to communicate clean glasses as the staff member didn't speak much English. A Chinese(?) girl bought the bottle of wine and two clean glasses. Proudly put the new glasses and the bottle in the cooling bucket (ice with water) and walked away. I was pouring a dripping wine bottle into our glasses, until she came back, about ten minutes later and proudly draped a cloth over the bucket. We were told the staff was in training. Isn't there Marriott school for that? Breakfast, the food is not bad, but the first days we stayed (and if it had not been busy bank holiday weekend we would have changed hotels) I would wave, try to catch an eye of a staff member for a second cup of coffee and finally ended up going to the service station and getting my own, as we had tours booked and needed to be out in a timely fashion. After my husband had some talks with the manager, breakfast did get better. We gave up on the restaurant, and started taking any other meals we need locally at the nearby Hop Inn. Our key card died every day. We would go up to our room, it would not work, we would go down and have to wait in a long check in line in order to get it reset to get into our room. Check out the photos. Maybe this will be a nice place when they get it renovated and stop using it as a training facility for staff. But it isn't up to the Marriott standard my husband and I are used to. We have stayed in Marriott Hotels all over the world and in small states and in small towns. This was below the standard of them all. When my husband spoke to the manager about the many defects, they did give us a discount, but the fact it was under renovation was not revealed to us at the time of our booking or on any of our pre-trip receipts, that we had booked months in advance. my husband and i have travelled all over the world , and for me this is the perfect hotel.i realise that there is major work going on , as it has become tired of late, but the hotel is still the best i have stayed in location , food staff all great , its a shame there is no lounge for marriott awards guests , and the token of a free snack or drink is a bit poor, and with a bit more effort for people who are marriott members it could do better, but i love this hotel and will continue to use it , Collapse
