We stayed two nights at this location during our trip to Salem. It’s only 15 minutes away from Downtown Salem and two shopping malls near Danvers. This is an older hotel that has been nicely maintained. We booked a special through hotels.com and ended up with two double beds in our room. They were ok, but I didn’t sleep well on our second night. The LCD TV is old. The screen was blotchy and you can tell this is one of the first LCD TVs that came on the market in the early 2000’s. The staff was great and the hotel amenities include a pool, 24 hour fitness center and restaurant. I would stay here again when we return to the area. Collapse

When we arrived at the hotel, we immediately had to call downstairs to get enough towels for 2 guests since there was only 1 set for 2 guests. The next day after being out over 6 hours found that the house keeping had just arrived at 4. Inconvenient. Getting towels for 2 guests was close to impossible. It was a problem through the entire 5 days. Also felt that the room doors could have used cleaning and paint. It gave the impression of less quality hotel. Manager did not inquire about stay when we checked out. Lest you wonder if we tipped the maid, we started with a very nice tip on the first night, but decreased the amount until last night at which we left nothing. Also left note each day to get the towels we needed. A big bright spot was the woman at the desk who sold my husband her own stamps so I could get postcards out to my grandchildren. Kudos to her and maybe she could train staff on how to treat guests. Collapse

My husband and I arrived at the hotel after driving 6 hours on a Friday for a weekend stay for a wedding on Sunday. We were tired and ready to just relax. We found the hotel very clean, modern and welcoming. At the reception desk, Lauren greeted us and I specifically asked for a quiet room. She obliged us with a room on the first floor but it faced the parking lot. After a bad experience at another hotel with a similar room from car noise going in and out of the parking lot, we decided to ask for another room on a higher floor. This time a gentleman at the desk told us they were full with lots of wedding parties but gave us room 427. The room over looks the roof with the A/C units and mechanical equipment for the hotel but we didn't care about that. After having dinner at Burton's Grill (which is fabulous) we settled in for the night. Unfortunately, at 11:30 or so a wedding party returned and proceeded to have an after party next door to continue their reception. I cannot fathom how inconsiderate people are, acting like this was a private house or fraternity dorm. I even was able to record the raucous noise on my cell phone through our door! I called the front desk twice during the night and they did send someone who FINALLY got them to take their party downstairs to the bar. Unfortunately, our desire to have a peaceful, quiet night was shattered and my husband and I got little rest. By next morning, I was quite upset to say the least and went down to reception and let them have it! Monica was there and listened to me carry on how miserable our night was and she was very sweet and understanding. She immediately asked the Manager, Sean, who was working at the other counter, come over and deal with us. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW PERSONABLE, PROFESSIONAL AND HELPFUL THIS MAN WAS! He gave us a complimentary buffet breakfast, which was FABULOUS and moved us to the Concierge 6th floor for the rest of our stay. Talk about customer service at it's finest. He extended himself to us several times during the next 2 days to see if he could do anything further and if we were okay. The room was clean and very comfortable and the service was excellent. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The hotel itself is centrally located to various sites and my husband and I went into Salem which is literally 15 minutes away. The Northshore Mall is about 5 minutes away and has several restaurants for dining. Once again, I would highly recommend Burton's Grill. We are planning to return in the future to explore other areas and would definitely stay at this hotel again. Our personal thanks to Sean and his staff. Collapse

End of August I took a four day business trip to Peabody. Keeping with my primary choice for a hotel--Marriott--I heard positive things about this hotel. The decor and design throughout the lobby area and first floor lounge/bar area is inviting and relaxing. The rooms are smaller in dimension because the hotel was built in 1989. By today's standards and hotel room layout it seems outdated but if you can overlook this fact the room served its purpose. One thing to note is that most hotels seem to use older and/or outdated types of air conditioning units that have a loud humming sound. That was evident here and other Marriott's I've stayed at--even newer built ones. Food was well priced for breakfast. I opted for the concierge level which came out to about $20 extra/day but worth it as its a full American breakfast. Very satisfying and wonderful way to fuel up for the long work day. Bed was a little firm for my liking and took a night to adjust but a decent night's sleep. Overall, I enjoyed the Marriott Peabody and will return on my next business trip. Collapse
