I am in my fifties and have written one other review for great service I received. I travel weekly and have stayed in top hotels and resorts as well as everyday hotels and motels, I share this so that you know I have a good understanding of what to expect and manage my reservations and expectations accordingly. My wife and I wanted a quick getaway near home to enjoy ourselves and the amenities a top resort can offer. We decided to get a suite and treat ourselves for a Waldorf experience, The following is what we got: 1. Prior to arrival we emailed concierge for some dinner recommendations, they replied at 9:17pm that evening, we had already made plans by that time. 2. Check in was pleasant and had a warm reception 3. Upon arrival to the suite, the dining table had no chairs and we called to have the room de-feathered due to allergies. We then left for the beach to allow them to de-feather the room. (Upon returning (5 hours later) That had not happened and had to call 2 more times while waiting outside on porch before it was completed) 4. Shuttle bus to the beach was timely, comfortable and clean 5. While at the beach, service to get a chair and towels was easy and quick 6. Waiter service at beach was poor. I believe the staff was new, but they had to check on the food, because it took very long, the beer was just above room temperature, had to order sodas twice because they forgot and the food was cold and about the quality you would get at a McDonalds (actually I think I would have preferred McDonalds). 7. After the poor food quality and service at the beach, the de-feathering fiasco in the suite, we decided to cancel our dinner reservations on site and stay in watch TV and order room service. Amazingly they could not get this correct either. A simple order of Rigatoni and meat sauce, a grilled cheese with fries, 2 desserts and waters. The Rigatoni had the quality of a store bought brand in a box, they did not provide Ketchup for the fries (I get that at a Marriott or Hilton) and they didn't bring any water to drink (which was part of the order), I guess we we're expected to have dinner with nothing to wash it down with. 8. They began pounding on doors for room service as early as 9am on a Sunday after greeting them at the door and letting them know we were still there, they returned banging and trying to get in at 10:30am. 9. The hotel is in a great location, on a beautiful beach, well maintained and manicured grounds 10. Most anything tying back to service and quality is deeply lacking All in all, I believe we received 2 star service and 1 star value at what should have been a great local getaway. This was my experience on this particular stay, perhaps we were unlucky and they do better on other days or for other guests, but with choices like the Breakers, Ritz-Carlton South Beach or Key Biscayne, Marriott Harbor Beach or The Biltmore (Off the beach) We have many great hotels in South Florida, I hope to choose better next time around. Unfortunately I can't really put a positive experience at this hotel. A large number of us (40+) booked our trip to Miami 6 months in advance for a family wedding (my brother). We arrive to the hotel on the weekend of the wedding to find that they had over booked 10+ of our rooms for our first night and were sending us off somewhere else to stay! They didn't even have the decency to call us prior to arrival to let us know, and we found out a few hours prior to the pre-party on the Friday night of the wedding. The general manager hid in his office. If it was just a care-free holiday it wouldn't have been such a huge blow, but travelling half way across the world for a family function and an opportunity for us British to be with our American family, was carelessly ruined with my mother in tears. Regardless of them trying to put the situation right in many ways, it did just make us think how little care they had towards us and set the spirits very low. You wouldn't expect this from a 'top' hotel. The hotel was very dated and too big. Would I return or recommend anyone from London to come here - NO. Collapse

This is a classic place with excellent service, great food and spacious rooms. Quality speaks for itself. If I had to say something negative, I would suggest to clean the windows in the tower, because beautiful view from the 18th floor was ruined by rather thick amount of dirt (also coffee could be a little bit better). Nevertheless hotel is great and classy. Collapse
