We’ve had my child’s birthday party at your hotel on Saturday 17th June. This was to be 2 hour smooth, simple event since I have organised it 6 months in advance. Well it wasn’t. Despite me providing detailed list and drawing of the floor plan how we wanted and needed for the room to be set up with other instructions, a phone call on Thursday 15th June since nobody was bothered to call me to go through everything and take a payment, the 2 hour party turned out to be a disaster. We arrived at 1pm (luckily) and what was supposed to be just a simple putting up balloons and decorations it turned out to be the most stressful hour as the room was set up completely different to what I have had agreed. The entertainer table wasn’t even there, the buffet long table was set up under the window where I have specifically asked for the entertainer table to be put since there was the only spot that had the sockets. The kids long table was meant to be on side but it wasn’t, instead there was this massive boardroom style long table across the whole room in the middle where that space was meant to be empty for the kids to play. Not mentioning there was no tables/chairs for parents, juices, coffee urn, water cups cake stand as I ordered and paid for this. We got there and had to search for some staff to speak to quickly as I nearly got heart attack seeing nothing we’ve discussed and planed 6 months in advance was done. When we finally found a person who could barely speak English, she went to call her manager. I assume this was duty manager on that day. He came I’ve explained what wasn’t done , he threw an apology and started slowly bringing things ….well we had 1 hour to get that room shifted from its current set up to what I need and decorate it. The party started 2pm and 2:15 I still didn’t even see the sign of the Coffee urn, they were working slowly as if they had plenty of time. My guests started arriving and they were still bringing chairs, I had to literally take setting up the cups for coffee from the waitress as she was so slow and absolutely not bothered that this was meant to be set up for 2pm. Well she wasn’t happy and I was so furious that I just asked to go and get that coffee finally as we’d be waiting all day for it with her tempo. The food surprisingly arrived on time and was ok. All continued fine and we didn’t see any staff after they brought the food. We of course run out of glasses, plates, spoons, people then started using the bowls that were for ice cream so when the ice cream arrived there weren’t enough bowls. Of course no staff was present so every single time we had to go and search in the corridors for a member of staff. This is the last thing you need when you have a full room of people and screaming kids and everyone is asking for everything and they want it right away. So all I was doing running to search for a waiter, then my husband. Once he complained suddenly we had couple of waiters appearing for about 10min then we didn’t see them again. The party finished and we took our belongings and left as nobody was even bothered to check, ask if all was ok as there was a far more important wedding next door that was of course bringing more cash than our little kids party. Of course to top it all up, we got to our car and found ourselves little present, parking ticket stuck on the window, despite being promised a complimentary parking and my husband personally registering with reception. After this I was absolutely exhausted, stressed out as it didn’t go the way it was planned and I couldn’t just relax as I had to search for waiters. I wanted this to be perfect party and thought that hotel such brand would do the justice and was expecting perfect service but it turned out to be the opposite. I guess I had too much expectations. I organise many events and large conferences so I am used to be dealing with many venues of different style but I have never come across such appalling customer service. This was big disappointment and caused me unnecessary stress as it was meant to be a happy simple 2 hour party. There is either lack of communication and hand over from the sales team to the team on duty on the day or simply the staff just didn’t care as it was only a small kids party that wouldn’t bring much money so wasn’t worth the effort. The hotel was very clean and the service was great. We enjoy our stay there. It was nice to use the hot tub at the end of a tourist day. The is located close to a few pubs, restaurants, movie theatre, shopping mall, and local transportation.
