Lovely hotel Grade 1 listed stayed for two nights on business, although my room could have done with some updating it had a four poster bed. The bathroom was very modern although there was a sign saying that the water was low pressure for the shower and explained how manipulating the shower head might help increase it. The room was in an annexe which looked like an old stable block? and was not contained within the hotel, but was only a few steps away from the car park. However it was on the ground floor and whoever was upstairs parading around sounded like a baby elephant. There was no bottled water in the room and as a Best Western Diamond Card Holder I was not offered a bottle which I should have been.? Free WiFi was very slow and I could not get any signal at all on my mobile EE network. Collapse

We have visited the hotel twice, in June and most recently this weekend. We would return, based on our recent stay and hotel grounds/location The hotel is charming, clean, and most staff are pleasant and friendly We stayed in a standard room the first time and we did have to speak to the manager to get some issues resolved- which I do feel she genuinely has taken on board. The second stay, we stayed in the Queen Anne room over looking the garden. Comfortable, and quaint. And when we book again we’d definitely opt for an upgraded room, definitely worth it I think overall the hotel is let down by small niggles that could be addressed- eg on latest stay hospital tray had an opened pack of biscuits- and although it may seem petty, it’s just little things that stop this place being outstanding Thankyou to Debra specifically. Stayed here Tuesday night. For one night on a Groupon deal. After a mixed bag of opinions on this website we were somewhat optimistic about what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is well placed for many places of interest Cotswolds, Stratford etc. A local pub very close from the bottom of the drive. Descent parking off road with a nice view of the hotel. Paid £10 for a four poster bed. (Room 22) very nice with a full view of the hotel and staircase up to a very large bathroom. Big comfy bed with tea coffee and buiscuits. Nice plus to have a fan in the room as it's a very warm hotel and bar and bedroom. Even In October. We had the tea and cream tea scones/cake and prosecco. Not bad but ask and pay a bit more for sandwiches as well as does not include on the Groupon offer. The bar has a variety of wine beer spirits etc. At a decent price. Again it's very warm in there. We had afternoon tea in the conservatory as you could eat in there or the bar or a bit nicer in the restaurant. We had two steaks with mushroom chips onion rings and trimmings. And a bottle of wine for £30 that was very nice and good value. Oh and a starters of camembert and a very nice bread for two. That again was very nice and tasty for the money. The breakfast as many reported this as many views. To us was very nice to consist of tea/coffee fresh orange. Mixed fruit salad miles bread to toast. Also had a lovely full English of different options that was superb. Staff seemed ok as well so don't believe everything you read. I've written to much but only to put forward what we experienced. Will return if in the area. Collapse
Romantic, Tudor charm.

+The review is based on a Groupon deal - had we paid full price for the accommodation this review might have read a little differently - the deal was 2 nights B&B plus afternoon tea and entry to Warwick Castle+ Location wise its very central for Stratford upon Avon and Warwick, And is also handy for a number of National Trust properties in the area. I will state that the outward appearance of the hotel is stunning. Its Grade 1 listed and has bundles of character. We spent two nights here as a short break. Set in delightful country settings this hotel offers bundles of historic character. Wood paneled rooms, an air of history and genuine rather than mock, Tudor charm. The bedroom we stayed in was an upgrade at a reasonable cost and sported a 4 poster bed. Whilst a little dark by more modern standards this must be viewed as a character in keeping with the property and is not a criticism. The bathroom is modern and well appointed. Minor failings: A few to many cobwebs - I don't hold anyone responsible for spiders, but a little more attention to detail when cleaning would not go a miss. The shower was a little feeble in output, and the tap for the bath in our room was a waterfall type, which looks lovely but is not a speed demon for filling a bath, perhaps at next refit this could be updated. It didn't spoil our stay but I think on a longer stay it might have become annoying. The hotel facilities are in keeping with its period character, a spacious if slightly tired looking dining room and a quaint bar. As with all hotels the bar prices are a little on the expensive side, but certainly not the worst I have ever come across. We partook of the steak night offer on the first night, excellent wine and perfectly cooked steak. We enjoyed deserts as well. Not unreasonably priced and of good quality overall. Excellent coffee. Overall it was good value for money. Breakfast is served from 7 until 10, so no excuse to miss it. The continental selection was very good, and a DIY toaster that actually toasted. (Its mentioned as they are so rare its actually a selling point). The cooked option was included, and we had it on both days of our stay. Overall the quality of the cooked breakfast is not on par with the continental. The eggs were nicely cooked (Fried and poached). However the bacon and sausages are not the finest quality, and the beans I had on the first day were cold. Experience over the years has taught me not to expect to much from hotel cooked options but as this is usually the meal all guests will have I honestly feel good quality and hot food is a selling point. And worth and extra £ or two. It would not stop us staying again, but I would only go with the continental option if things were unchanged in the cooked option area. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only criticism I will level is that we both felt a little more attention to detail would improve the overall ambience. The cobwebs in the room were a symptom. Just a little more care, a little more cleaning, perhaps a few very sympathetic upgrades here and there if permitted by its listed status, certainly the conservatory (courtyard) roof needs some minor repairs/tidying up and this hotel would be very good in deed. Overall we enjoyed our stay here but I have taken in to account the excellent deal we had. if we were visiting the area again and the same deal was available we would certainly consider it. Collapse
