Strengths: Staff was very helpful and accommodating. They moved us to different (somewhat a little better) rooms after the original rooms...well...sucked. It was small, unclean, and it smelled. The rooms were equipped with kitchenware plus a stove, microwave, and fridge. So if you don't feel like going out, you can cook your own food. The location is 3.0 km away from Paris center, but fairly close to Metro Stations. But, we didn't use to metro due to numerous warnings of pick pockets and the likes. Our average taxi fare from the center to the hotel (and vice versa) ranged from 15-35 euros. Weaknesses: Elevators were small. We had to take two trips with our bags. Not all rooms are accessible by ONE elevator, you have to switch elevators (plus carry big bags up a few flights of stairs) which is very inconvenient. Rooms were small (typical for Paris, I guess). Carpet seemed unclean. Beds were fairly comfortable. Bathroom was big, but if you want to bathe with hot water, take a shower before 8 am. Also, there was an incident wherein the bath tub's drain clogged. TIPS: If you plan on staying here, ask to have a room at the Berlioz building. It seems new and better furnished (plus you don't have to switch elevators!). The Debussy building (where we stayed) is kinda old and smells like smoke and mold. I wouldn't recommend staying here. --- All in all, I'd rate this a pretty average stay for about 4 nights. Collapse
Better than expected !

We were unsure about where to stay in Paris as there is thousands of hotels but we picked this hotel in Saint Antoine as it was a best western and the photos and reviews were very good, however once we arrived at our room (room 19) we had to carry our heavy luggage up a small spiral stair case (recommend don't stay here if you have heaps of luggage as only selected rooms have lift acces) which was a bit inconvenient however when we got into our room finally after many trips up and down the stairs the T.V was in German so we had to get the handy man to fix that which was an easy fix, then the fridge was not working so we also had to get the handy man back in to fix that too, mind you this was all within 20 minutes of being there. The room lamps were very dusty and there were some spider webs in the corners of the room. The hotel was situated in a quiet area of Paris away from the hustle and bustle however it was very close to the metro which was a plus and the staff were very pleasant and professional. Collapse
Not as good as it could be for the price

I selected this hotel as looking at the website it had a nice courtyard and the rooms were bigger than most Paris hotel rooms. The hotel is located a short walk from Nation metro station. Staff are friendly and helpful. I'd booked a double room but had been upgraded to a junior suite. On reflection, I think I would have preferred the double room as the junior suite was located on the main corridor between the reception and the courtyard so you heard everybody walking past at all hours and it was right next to the breakfast room. Certainly not what I would expect from a junior suite. The junior suite had 2 rooms with a bathroom off one of them. Far too big for me as a solo traveller as it also had a sofa bed and 2 TVs. As with the other rooms, there is a kitchenette so you could self cater although I only really had breakfast in the room. I'm glad I hadn't paid the price for this room (around 200 euros a night) as it lacked basic amenities that you might expect. For example with most wine being corked rather than screw cap in France, a corkscrew would have been useful. Additionally, as the idea is to wash up your plates, etc. a dishcloth and some washing up liquid would save every traveller having to buy their own! In the local area there is a well-stocked supermarket a few doors down to the left when facing the entrance to the hotel, and a bakery a few minutes walk to the right. Collapse
