This hotel is beautiful with a great view of the City located on Karl Johans Gate (the main road), centrally located with lots of dining choices. Coffee and tea are always available in the lobby. Every floor has different art works, take a walk through each floor. Our room on the 5th floor had a bed and a pull out sofa which was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and creative, lots of special dishes to try. I commend the kitchen staff for coming up with something new everyday. There are 3 dining areas, so don't panic if you can't find a table, just keep walking. Grab a sandwich from the convenience store on the corner or buy a packed lunch in the breakfast room at the hotel and have a picnic at the fortress. Do your wallet a favor and try a local meal at Kaffistova located at Rosenkrantz' gate 8 less than a block away. I can't brag enough about this perfect location, I only wish we could have stayed longer! Collapse

My wife and I stayed in room 514, a spacious suite, for four nights. This room was a corner room, on the top floor and with three opening windows. There was a lovely view over the square and towards the parliament building. We had very politely been greeted at reception. Quick and efficient. The hotel was a lovely old building and had an impressive iron staircase, partly obscured by a false ceiling near reception. The hotel is ideally located near the nation theatre metro and train station, very easy to get there from them airport. It is near the centre and within easy walking distance of the palace, museums and sea front. Room furnishing were minimalistic. A wooden floor, small table, desk, wardrobe, two small bedside tables, large sofa bed and a suitcase stand. The bed was a large double on legs with separate duvets. Bedside lighting was excellent, comprising an adjustable spotlight and a standard light. There was a large tv with Sky news. One interesting feature of the room and hotel were the drawings and paintings of nude women! The bathroom was a small step up from the short hall and comprised an bath, washbasin, WC and shower over the bath. Impressively, towels had tabs for hanging on hooks. Hot water was always available and had a good pressure. Soap was available by the sink and over the bath from a dispenser. One minor fault was that the extractor fan did not seem to work. An information sheet in the room stated that face cloths were available at reception. We asked but the receptionist could not find any. Breakfast opens at 0700 on weekdays but 0800 at weekends. It comprised natural yoghurt, cereals, bread of several types, fruit juices, fresh melon on the rind, coffee, tea, small cake cubes, waffles, crisp reads, biscuits, cooked food, cold meats, cheese and vegetables. There were always several people having breakfast at 0700 and it was not easy to move around people and get the items we wanted. Worse was Saturday when we arrived just before it was supposed to open at 0800, only to find it was very busy and had clearly been open before 0800, it was very difficult to move round the people getting their food and drink. Items quickly ran out and it was sometimes minutes before they were replaced. A delight was the excellent tasting coffee. We later learned from reception that a coach party had come in the previous day and were going out that morning. We had to miss breakfast on the Sunday because we had to leave before 0800 to get a train to the airport. 0800 is far too late to open for breakfast. Coffee was available in the rooms, but better was that in the business Lounge on floor three. Wifi was free, good and seemed faster than average. In conclusion, a excellently situated comfortable hotel for exploring Oslo. All staff were very friendly and polite. Collapse

Great location on the same street as the Royal Palace and Parliament. 2 blocks away from harbor and close to shopping. Hotel is dated. Rooms have no amenities...liquid soap dispenser only, no shampoo, no moisturizer, no coffee maker, no pen, no paper...every short cut taken to make money. Staff is ok. No parking, Parking is 3 blocks away and you pay the full rate. Hotel does not even have a guest rate with them. Rooms overlook alleys and central area with air conditioning equipment and staff filling trash dumpsters at 6 AM. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in July. The hotel is in a great location, within easy walking distance to most of the (tourist-centric) day and night life of Oslo. The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren; full of little corridors and side corridors. Once we found our room (!), it was facing the internal light courtyard, looking out to and down on a heap of air-conditioning units. Not particularly great. The room itself was quite spacious, including the bathroom. The bathroom was clean, but older style. I did notice when walking past a couple of other rooms facing the street that their bathrooms had been recently renovated, so I guess they're working through them. We found the room quite hot - there was no cooling option. We asked for, and were provided with, a small plug-in fan. The bed was comfortable. There were no options for pillows other than those already in the room (way too soft for us). We did not experience any night time noise. Breakfast was okay. Just. The wait staff were struggling to keep up with clearing tables and replacing empty food in the small buffet. In fact, we went later (just after 9am) one day and there was almost nothing left, and many items weren't being replaced/replenished. It was incredibly hot (to the point of being quite uncomfortable) in the breakfast room each day. Overall, this is a reasonable value hotel for the location, considering it's Norway. I'd probably look at other options when next in Oslo - perhaps AirBnB. Collapse
It is a big hotel and I guess lottery on what sort of room you get

Best Western's vary a lot, and this one is very average compared to other ones I have stayed at. My room, though quiet, was jammed between the elevator shaft and 2 corridors and is one of the strangest shaped rooms I have been in! That said the bed was comfortable and the bathroom serviceable. Breakfast buffet was also OK. It is in a great location, some 10 minutes walk from the Central Station. It has a great staircase! Collapse
