TV in room broken, heating didn't work,we were cold, manager was indifferent. Meal was awful, service bad and we waited an hour for the main course, overpriced too. We asked the manager about being cold and we were eventually given a heater for the room. We tried several rooms to find a TV that was working, to no avail. I asked if the TV's were checked and the heating, but he didn't respond. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Gatwick Airport. Collapse

Don't normally write these, but feel that customers should be aware of some of its flaws. My only reason for booking this was affordable, airport parking with overnight accommodation and a shuttle bus transfer to the airport. The minibus transfer is an extra £5 on your on-line booking which you only discover on arrival at the hotel. If you don't book the transfer early enough you risk having to get a taxi as my colleague who arrived after me later discovered. They only have one minibus for all the transfers! For a requested 9.15am transfer from the hotel to the airport they could only offer me a 9am or an 8am slot. In the end i opted to go by taxi with my colleague despite having already paid my £5. On return I followed their instructions to call them when I arrived. I did this from baggage reclaim, but by the time I got out the bus had gone and I had to wait for this one bus to do its round trip which meant I got transferred nearly an hour later. I phoned another two times to ask when the bus would get there and got no answer. If it's convenience and the minimising of travel hassle you want then don't go here. My flight got in at 10.05, i went through customs and baggage reclaim quickly, but only got to my car at 12 noon and that took some finding in the car park as no-one shows you where they have moved it too! I don't write reviews as I think positive experience needs to be experienced. However negative or poor and justified feedback for places is helpful (this is my first such review). From entering the hotel we were greeted by an empty reception, the manager (as I discovered later) was sat in the office and he saw me arrive, with nobody on reception he made no attempt to get up and see to us. The room smelled of paint, not a bad thing as it meant they cared about the place. That unfortunately was the last vision of this we saw. When we entered the restaurant, a stark and sole-less place, we were shown to a table. I am not one for TV in a restaurant but if it's there you should at least be able to see it (half the screen was obscured by some partitions). We were then asked it we wanted to order and when we said can we order drinks first we were told yes but I can't do that, the man will do that. Then later we were asked by 'the man' has your drinks order been taken? We ordered our food moments later as we felt rushed. The waitress returned some 15 minutes later asking my wife "what have you ordered as we lost the ticket" 5 minutes later they came back to ask me what my order had been. 25 minutes later my 70's inspired prawn cocktail arrived. Bland and with less finesse than a rusty Ford Capri. So anticipation built, as you can imagine by now, for the Chicken Tikka Masala and Angus beef burger, New York style. At first glance the CTM was (for £14) practically a child's portion. My wife does not eat much but even she had to grab the magnifying glass and inspect closer. Her disappointment was heightened when she realised she had not been served her mini Naan bread - or maybe she had!! My burger looked, on the face of things, to be alright. Let's forget the hair in the chips. When my wife asked could I have my naan bread the waitress stared blankly and said Yes. So we asked again "the curry is served with a naan bread, will I get it?" Yes a bread was the reply, no said Carla I am due a naan bread for my curry, It's on the menu. OK. The server then left. During this time I popped the top off my burger to see processed cheese and bacon who's fat shone back at me like the pasty white flesh of an English girl on holiday. Nothing like uncooked bacon fat to make you hungry. My wife now on her last mouthfuls of curry spotted the manager (the one who didn't want to be seen on reception earlier). She held out her hand and then requested his attention. When he came to the table we explained what we had experienced, he said sorry I will speak to the kitchen. When we explained he may like to speak to the other tables (that had not been served, were waiting for courses, were ignored by servers) he told us I will deal with them if they talk to me. Anyway he said, I will get your naan bread for you. My wife who had now become Jack Spratt and licked the bowl clean said but I don't need the naan bread now as I have finished. He said okay leave it with me. We gestured to the tables around us, they all held their hands up, he looked at them and walked off to the kitchen ignoring the other tables. Guess what happened 2 minutes later? Yup the naan bread turned up. Well I say naan bread - if naan bread looks like a small seeded white bread roll then Carla was happy. So we said sorry but that is not a naan bread. The server said so are you saying you don't want it now? The look she got said it all. We sat there for some 10 minutes, the manager was nowhere in sight and all the servers kept their heads down. Finally the chef turned up apologising for the experience. Apparently some customers don't like cooked bacon fat! I am sure my FFS look made him re-think this as he said though i may have under done yours. Also your naan bread was forgotten by the server as she does not know the menu as it was new tonight. But when we asked so when does a bread roll look like a naan bread he said she doesn't know what it looks like. Anyway he offered us a free curry and a free dessert. We said it's not your job to apologise for bad service it's the managers but he has disappeared. He said "I know". We got a free curry! Wow. Please if you are staying here try and find somewhere local to eat. I know these places of fast turnover and unlikely repeat business are there for one purpose and one purpose only but you still need to feel as if a passion and drive towards customer service matters. Like I say I have never written a trip advisor review before but this place and it's management need reviewing. Collapse
