Located in the heart of South Cheshire The Best Western Crewe Arms Hotel offers the very best for both business users and pleasure seekers. We are conveniently located just a few minutes away from J16 of the M6. The hotels location makes it an ideal base for visiting Nantwich, Sandbach, Stoke on Trent and even the historic city of Chester. It should come as no surprise when we tell you that its located adjacent to Crewe Railway station (and is the world's first Railway hotel, built in 1830)!
For both business and leisure guests, we go all out to make your stay as comfy-cosy as possible. Our job is made easier by the beautiful red brick building we inhabit, which stands out at the entrance to the town and is held in much affection by the many locals and visitors from further afield. Such is the character of our hotel that Queen Victoria and her family stayed here when she travelled from London to Scotland for her annual summer holidays - there's even a tunnel that she used here to avoid walking with the commoners!
The Hotel facilities include 61 Ensuite Bedrooms with complimentary parking and Wi-Fi throughout, along with a comfortable bar and restaurant. Some of the most interesting and exciting attractions are within easy reach, Stapeley Water Gardens, Bridgemere Garden World, Alton Towers, Jodrell Bank, Oulton Park and Chester Racecourse. We stayed here via a national holidays excursion. Our driver said it was a fab hotel so our expectations were raised as we have been in a few "national holiday choices and usually good". Check in was good and quick as they were ready for us and the staff were very friendly. A very small lift took us to our floor. First impressions of the room was very old fashioned. The bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was adequate as far as size but the light was very poor and the fan very noisy. No slip mat in the shower which makes me very nervous and no handrail in case of a slip. The shower was not easy to work either. The towels in our room were quite old and tatty with a couple of them fraying. The wardrobe was large but overpowering. The window was open when we arrived but we soon had to close it firstly as we could hear the railway opposite,a very busy road and also the window rattled like and which was even more annoying so we had to close it which meant we cooked. Evening meal was adequate but nothing startling, the saving grace was the veg was fresh and not tinned but overall not hot. The lounge area is fairly pleasant but don't be in a hurry for a drink as the reception staff were also the bar staff so you could wait a while. Breakfast was very disappointing, the sausages were horrid and cheap, the eggs looked as hard as the Hobbs, the plates were cold so overall not good. The teapot was empty and it was a good ten minutes before it was replenished. The orange juice was so very strong I'm sure if I had drunk a whole glass it would have stripped the lining of my throat. It was a very disappointing stay and I certainly would not choose to stay here of my own accord. The only good point for us was that the staff were very friendly but just not enough of them. Collapse

Good buffet style breakfast including hot food. Friendly pleasant bar. Friendly staff. Good-ish location apart from the inherent noise. Decent Indian nearby (passage to India). Noise from the train station next door and the main Rd is a big issue at this hotel, particularly in summer when it is hot. Maybe secondary glazing and air con would help, but that would require money to be invested. This seems unlikely given the cheap plumbing/fittings in the bathroom (taps that go the "wrong" way, are loosely installed as in the basin, or a shower mixer that isn't thermostatic, a noisy macerator-type loo, very poor lighting). The key card failed twice during a three night stay (No I didn't keep it next to my phone) Yes there is also an incredibly creaky staircase, almost comical. So overall, hotel is in need of some investment. Collapse

We hired a few rooms at the Crewe Arms Best Western earlier in June for a conference event and also stayed overnight. We were really looked after. The food was good, rooms were comfortable with everything that was needed. The conference went off without a hitch and the food provided was plentiful, well cooked and amazing (loads of choice). The price was extremely comparable too. The fact that the hotel is situated right next to the rail station with ample parking, makes it ideal for conferences. Definitely couldn't recommend it enough! The service in the hotel on Saturday 3rd June at lunch time was abysmal. There appeared to be insufficient staff. I had to wait 35 minutes for a sandwich which when it appeared was turkey which proved to have no flavour. Chips were provide which had been overcooked, some were very dark in colour and far too thick. In fact later in the day I was ill. The wine was poorly served. There were a large number of people in the lounge waiting for drinks and food, with only 3 members of staff serving in the bar and from the kitchen. Not the standard which I expect from Best Western Hotels, and certainly does not encourage me to return. Collapse

I stayed here on a busniness trip at the end of May and left feeling glad my company rather than me personally had paid for the stay. First impressions were good though, easy to find and great location for those coming by train. Characterful building with lovely presented reception area and friendly desk staff. However was not impressed by the state the room was left and, had the bed not been made, was questioning whether it had actually been cleaned or not prior to my arrival! A damp, dirty towel had been left on the side, dust layered everywhere and a corpse of a smacked wasp stuck in plain sight on the net curtain. Nevermind though because the bed was super soft and comfy and I was looking forward to a good nights sleep. However you do need to be a heavy sleeper to not be disturbed by the train station or the road as my particular room was near the corner at the front of the building - I suppose those on the other side may be quieter. Come the morning though, I was pleased to find "Dove" shower gel rather than some cheap non-lathering stuff you normally get and the clean fresh towels were soft and large. The breakfast could have been brilliant had there been enough left - a couple slices of bread left, one sausage, a small piece of bacon and a scoop of beans - and as I was in a bit of a rush I couldn't wait for more to be made. But as I arrived only half way through the breakfast service there should have been more readily available really. But what I had was tasty and well cooked. Overall, is a comfortable and well positioned hotel which offers a great stop over for business trips - the cleanliness and breakfast did let it down though which should be top priority for any hotel.
