Located in the heart of South Cheshire The Best Western Crewe Arms Hotel offers the very best for both business users and pleasure seekers. We are conveniently located just a few minutes away from J16 of the M6. The hotels location makes it an ideal base for visiting Nantwich, Sandbach, Stoke on Trent and even the historic city of Chester. It should come as no surprise when we tell you that its located adjacent to Crewe Railway station (and is the world's first Railway hotel, built in 1830)!
For both business and leisure guests, we go all out to make your stay as comfy-cosy as possible. Our job is made easier by the beautiful red brick building we inhabit, which stands out at the entrance to the town and is held in much affection by the many locals and visitors from further afield. Such is the character of our hotel that Queen Victoria and her family stayed here when she travelled from London to Scotland for her annual summer holidays - there's even a tunnel that she used here to avoid walking with the commoners!
The Hotel facilities include 61 Ensuite Bedrooms with complimentary parking and Wi-Fi throughout, along with a comfortable bar and restaurant. Some of the most interesting and exciting attractions are within easy reach, Stapeley Water Gardens, Bridgemere Garden World, Alton Towers, Jodrell Bank, Oulton Park and Chester Racecourse. The world famous potteries including Wedgwood, Royal Doulton and Aynsley all have their factory shops and visitor's centres located only a short drive away.

Stayed here as part of an Alton towers package, we arrived just before 7 pm to find out that the hotel was overbooked. Not as I understand the hotels fault, however the girls on reception did a fantastic job of juggling rooms to get us sorted. We originally booked a quad room (2adults 2 kids) but ended up with two rooms next to each other which was fine by us. Pizza Hut delivery for dinner then settled down for the night. Breakfast the next day was a disappointment, Gluten free bread was requested and offered but no separate toaster, scrambled egg was a slight shade of green, asked for fresh and it was provided. It was on a whole just ok, but I would have expected better. The check in juggling was about 20 minutes in total and we felt that the girls on reception couldn't do enough. 10 out of 10. Breakfast for quality and experience was 3 out of 10. Maybe we hit on a bad day, certainly room for improvement. Would I stay again........ I would have to give it some thought. Collapse

Stayed for a Saturday evening meal, b&b as part of a coach outing. We all received a warm welcome on arrival and very quick check in to our rooms. The bedroom and en-suite bathroom were spacious and nicely decorated. Plenty of hot water, fluffy white towels and a bath with shower. The bed was big and comfortable and a complimentary tea tray was also provided. In room facilities included tv with remote control, ironing board and iron, a fan and a hair dryer. There was a good choice of starter, main and dessert for the evening meal which is self-service together with tea, coffee and jugs of water. Breakfast was good and when my husband asked for poached eggs instead of fried eggs these were quickly cooked and brought to the table. A minor criticism would be that there should be serving tongs for the bread so that everyone is not handling the bread. We spent a relaxing evening in the bar and all in all had a very enjoyable stay. There's a large car park and the hotel is very close to the railway station. We will return if and when we are in the area again. Collapse

Stayed for two nights so I could go and see my beloved football team, Crewe Alexandra, play Newport County, just down the road at the Alexandra Stadium. Queen Victoria used to stay overnight at "The Crewe Arms" on her frequent rail journeys between Buckingham Palace and Balmoral. It was one of the first purpose-built "railway hotels" in the world, and is just across the road from Crewe station. Although it's such an old, rambling hotel, the public areas and corridors are well maintained, nicely painted and carpeted. All the staff were friendly (I must mention Adam who served us food and drinks many times, and is a fellow Crewe Alex fan). FOOD: We enjoyed delicious EVENING MEALS on both nights of our stay, but were disappointed with the BREAKFAST buffet - totally self-service, including a tea/coffee machine that was faulty, and a toasting machine that wasn't great either. ROOM: We were in the twin room 224 at the rear of the hotel. Spacious, with comfy beds, but there were no spoons on the complimentary tea/coffee tray when we arrived. The most annoying feature of Room 224 was the poor toilet flush. Maybe it's to do with low water pressure in an old building, but it was an issue for us. We'll stay at the "Crewe Arms Hotel" again (when we come to watch Crewe Alexandra) as it's somewhat superior to the nearby "Premier Inn" in Weston Road where we've stayed previously. : Collapse

Have not enjoyed this hotel one bit. Although the staff are spot on this hotel is no good if its sleep you want. Rooms are out dated bathroom fixtures falling off. Paid 100 quid for the night an didn't even have a bath in room. Mould in shower an the shower head hanging off. I worked nights Monday an was woke to the noise of glass being shot in skip at 6 next night I was in room overlooking rail track and I got no sleep. Food was crap for a great western. At breakfast The bacon and sausages tried to do a runner when I lifted lid . Evening meal was ok the chips are good an my gammon was 50 percent fat. Internet wise I couldn't get nothing in this room so couldn't get my work done. Collapse

Although the hotel is very old, the staff try and make your visit welcoming. It must cost site management a lot of money to keep all areas of the hotel modern, updated and fully operational. It is on the junction of some main roads and right up against the station/railway lines. So, noise can be an issue in the public areas and, more importantly, your bedroom! Car park available for residents. Collapse
