Like a few others, we have stayed in various parts of the island over the past several years, we stayed in everything from self catering to all inclusive. April is also our favoured month to stay in Ibiza - its midway between the calm & the storm, temperature mostly in low 20's. Many had mixed reviews, but I'm happy for us to say, ours is a positive one. The hotel is spotless, reception staff excellent, very fast check in, polite and pleasent. Pretty grounds to dander around, maintained perfectly, pretty rattan tables & chair low lit area to sit with a coffie or drink in the evening outside to the right of reception, great deck level pool, well maintained, a huge area with loungers surrounding. Staff busy all round, friendly and obliging from our experience. The restaurant was clean and easy to navigate, we are both Vegitarian, and ate hearty each morning and evening, as our board was such. Our room was on 3rd floor directly overlooking the main pool, a massive room, with a great bathroom/shower room, great little array of hygiene products, comfortable beds we slept very well in & quiet, save for guests further up the hall allowing doors to bang shut, which was shockingly loud and therefore rude, as I can't imagine how they wouldn't know that it's affecting others, (this is easily cured however by an adjusting spring added to the doors)-oddly external noise was for the most part, non existent! As for those whom suggest there is nothing to do/go nearby....there is loads, head for the promenade walk overlooking the marina in the distance, as many bars/cafés/Resturant's you want along the way, pick any direction for shops or convenience stores. We hire a car each time we travel to Ibiza, and customer parking is complimentary to the rear. It's a very underrated Island and somewhat overlooked by many due to the clubbing culture in the summer, however its much much more than just that alone. In summary, This hotel surpassed our expectations, we were very plesently surprised when faced with reality. We would happily Return to the Bergantin while on vacation to Ibiza again. Collapse
Enjoyable April trip, but not for everyone

Myself, partner and son went back to the hotel again for another enjoyable April trip. We love Ibiza in April, it's much quieter, there isn't a huge amount open and the beaches are deserted - just what you need for a nice, relaxing getaway! What sets the Bergantin aside from other hotels are its staff. Not the entertainment team who some people may think 'get paid to have fun' but the normal staff in reception and on the bar, as well as others who all say hello when they see you. Particular mention should go to Laura on reception, who now recognises us as regulars and gives us an incredibly friendly welcome whenever we go. And then there is Oscar's (our 6 year old) adopted Auntie Isabel who works on the bar and is a huge credit to the hotel. Without fail she talks to Oscar, makes him laugh, gets him a drink or just gives him a big cuddle. As always the room was clean and tidy, no issues there at all and it was well cleaned by the maids every day. My only complaint with the hotel is the level of noise in the mornings, rooms being moved around on floors above you, or people leaving for earlier flights can result in a less than ideal nights sleep. In April the food is unsurprisingly tailored towards the 99% of Spanish guests in the hotel, but it is still good despite the range not being huge compared to some larger hotels. If you're British and want to be surrounded by other Brit's April is not the month for you at the Bergantin, you'll still be made very welcome but there will only be a couple of other British people there which has never been a problem for us. All inclusive doesn't start until the end of April, so bear that in mind if you're booking for this month. And as I mentioned, there isn't a lot open - Stevie D's around the corner makes a mean home made meal, and Casita's food (also 30 seconds away) is good but the service isn't the best. Definitely not for everyone, but perfect for us, and I would encourage more people to visit in April. Hire a car, get around the Island - it's an amazing place! Collapse

First let me comment on the negative reviews you may have read. We experienced the opposite. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who were efficient, friendly and helpful. We had a twin room on 4th floor and single on 1st floor both of which were spotlessly clean with towel and bedding change. Also plenty of sockets, constant hot water for both bath and shower and a few English channels on tv. Tip: If you like a brew when you awaken pack your travel kettle and the hair dryer in the bathroom was great so you can leave yours at home. Food:- Breakfast was more than adequate but dont expect a full English until the Season starts in May. There was always scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, with sausage or mushrooms or bacon and fried eggs. Toast, fresh rolls, salad bar with ham and cheese, fresh fruit, yoghurts, sweet cakes, biscuits, jams, marmalade, cereals......Lunch and Dinner: Soup, meat dishes, Fish, Pasta, Good choice of sweets, water, soft drinks, wines and beer. Pool area excellent with plenty of sun beds all new and unbroken. The Hotel is close to beach and ferries which run to San Antone across the bay and several beautiful beaches which we spent most of the days on, our favourite being Bassa beach. We used taxis as ferries not running during closed season. It is very quiet until May with very little open but you will find the odd pub and restaurant open and there was entertainment in the hotel during the evening. Conclusion:- This is the best budget hotel I have stayed in and highly recommend it. Value for money? you cant beat it Mrs P. Collapse

has to be the worst hotel i have ever stayed in in the last 40 years !!! the staff are great,. and thats were the good ends.it was full of Spanish pensioners, for thwe first week only 4 britts in the hotel !! we had tears in the sheets,. hole in towel ( see photos ), to be fair, the maid changed them striaght away. walls so thin the people next door may as well have stayed in our room with us, when they used the bathroom water came up our basin plug hole,. t.v only had B,B,C 1 and 2 and sky news. the food was discusting,. only two choices of WARM food for breakfast, nevr hot,. the plates were always cold, , when i comlaind about only luke warm food, was told by cook to use the microwave !!!! The area was run down, only two bars open within a mile of the hotel,. even the newsagents did not sell English papers untill end of April !! the A,.T,.M machines were boarded up with sign saying ONLY OPERATE FROM MAY TO NOVEMBER !! This is NOT a 3 star hotel, it is possible that it changes for the summer., but we, and the other English people we spoke to will NEVER BE RETURNING !!! book at your peril Collapse
