The hotel had great facilities, sporting activities and entertainment for our 2 boys ages 10 and 6. The entertainment team are a credit to the hotel, especially Mario and Pablo. All the staff are very friendly and helpful including those in the mini club, bar, restaurant and reception. Rooms clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely indoor pool. We stayed half board and enjoyed the food - a good variety. Handy large supermarket v nearby - use path leading down to back gate and it's just over road. Would also definitely recommend going to Paloma Park (not too far) and the marina (a fair walk). Hotel is a really good choice for families, especially those with younger children. Collapse

This was my second trip to Benalmadena but my first stay at this hotel and was blown away by just about everything. The whole complex was so clean and the staff went that extra mile to make sure everything was to your liking. We had a room on the 5th floor with a pool view and it was lovely to sit on the balcony watching people enjoying themselves. There was plenty to keep any children entertained throughout the day but can't comment on evening entertainment as we ventured out to eat every night. Good and plentiful choice for breakfast. The only downside was that the hot food was only ever lukewarm at best, as was the water for tea and coffee. Did eat in the restaurant a couple of evenings and was happy with the variety of food on offer and the staff worked very hard and it ran like clockwork. Yes, the hotel is at the top of a very steep bank which can be gruelling after a day in the sun, carrying beach equipment, but the shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes and if you do decide to tackle the hill, there is a short cut through the underground car park. There is also a Relax area away from the pools if you want some peace and quiet but on a couple of occasions people did come round with their children which sort of defeated the object really, so maybe they should consider making this an adult only area??? The indoor pool was a nice way to get out of the intense heat and also has a Jacuzzi to relax in. Lifeguards patrolled all pools at all times. All in all this was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in and would I return| ???? Without a doubt. Collapse

I've just got back from a week with my 2 children aged 8&3,When we first arrived which was 10pm at night they took us to our room 211 I instantly asked to be moved as this room looked on to the road&chad trees straight in front of it,we were then moved to room 404 which was a lovely view but the rooms are very small too small for 4 people one bedroom with 2 single beds&a sofa with a pull out bed underneath once this is pulled out you cannot get onto the balcony which is a problem if the kids are in bed&you want to sit outside.Only one of the air conditioning units work in the bedroom apparently this is normal,Food-there is hardly any choice in the restaurant for evening meal hard to put something together, breakfast nice, snack bar not great food,Also be aware you don't have all inclusive on your last day after breakfast which for us was appalling as we didn't arrive til Saturday night&didnt leave til the following Saturday night so only got 6 days of all inclusive even though we paid for 7,the bar where the night time entertainment is isn't pleasant smells like a pub BUT the entertainment team are fab as are all the staff, kids club excellent&my older boy loved water volley ball&football.Yes it's on a very steep hill but they do a free shuttle bus down to the beach&back so we didn't find this a problem,Had a great holiday but would I return to this hotel No mainly because of the tiny rooms&other night time bar!! This trip was the 3rd trip to benalmadena and all 3 times we have stayed here at the palace hotel and spa. I feel now is the time to write a review for the place. We arrived late around 12:30am and unfortunately even though we had clearly booked a 1 bed apartment directly on the hotel website we had been booked into a studio on the 6th floor. I was not pleased and after explaining to the desk staff he confirmed that although he could not do anything at that point, that he would make sure the day staff get us into a 1 bed. Sure enough the following day we were given room 528 which was great. A 1 bed with amazing views of sea, pool and mountain. This was with the hotel also being fully booked. I cant fault them for this and although spanish customer service skills arent the best. Was satisfied with the outcome. I will now give a list of things with the hotel mostly positive with only a couple of negatives. Positives: Facilities great with indoor spa with warm pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. 2 outdoor pools 1 main and 1 kids. Massage services, small shop, excellent bar called benys with nightly entertainment for kids and adults. Restaurant for people on all inclusive or half board (we have always gone self catering so cant comment on the food) snack bar by pool with decent enough food to purchase and bar. Kids club with excellent staff, indoor and outdoor play areas, mini golf, arcade with 10 pin bowling and a cinema (tv with chairs in a room). Also a pretty good gym for adults. The hotel also has regular fun stuff to do during the day such as darts comps, archery and shooting, paddleboard tennis, foam parties, free melon and cocktail shots randomly around the pool during the day, eagle and snake shows. All fantastic stuff. Apartments are great. Reasonable kitchen with fridge, 2 hob stove, microwave, cutlery and plates etc. Kettle and toaster. Bathroom decent with bath and shower and beds reasonably comfy. In the apartments you get seperate bedroom and lounge with tv. A pull out bed that turns into a double (you need to pull out the single bed which then raises up in legs to join the sofa part making it a double). There is a decent supermarket for goodies out the back of the hotel which is closed on sundays. Can also use the path to it to get to a nice beach at the back of the sunset hotel. Decent indoor car park if you have a car but its 12 euros a day. Some free outdoor parking spaces but normally full. You can also exit the garage on foot to save your legs somewhat as there is a slight steep hill to get to the beach and marina walking. But we managed it fine even with buggy and toddler. The hotel is well situated, although a bit far from the marina for walking everytime but taxis are only 7 euro one way. There are very few negatives about this hotel and after staying 3 times can safely say this, however: If you book and pay for a certain type of apartment especially direct, you should really be given what you book. Being full isnt really an excuse, and staff customer service could always be better when dealing with issues. Getting a good supply of towels in your room can be an issue. With 3 people and 1 bath towel it is not ideal. This may have been due to how busy it was but again this shouldnt be an excuse. Thats the only things i would say. This is a fantastic value for money hotel spa with fantastic facilities and ideal if you have children. Not sure for couples but if you have kids its awesome. Well done to the owners and staff and thanks for everything over the time we have stayed with you. We will be back. Collapse

We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay in the Benalmadena Palace at the end of May/start of June. We traveled with two young children - 3 and 5 - who loved every minute. All their needs were catered for, from the smaller pool, to the kids club and the entertainment at night. We went self catering but opted to pay for breakfast on a few occasions during the week, which I'd really recommend. Endless choice and options. We only did one night's dinner, which was typical of a buffet meal - some hit and some miss. While the hill up to hotel is indeed steep, we didn't mind too much and often cut through the car park to shorten the journey. We found a lovely seafood restaurant on the beach down beside Sunset beach (Remos Lazaro), a gorgeous steak restaurant behind Sunset beach (Angus) and then a really, really good Indian just up from Sunset Beach (Amigos - you have to try the chicken passanda!). Overall, a great stay - staff were always so helpful and really made an effort. We will be back Collapse
