I've just returned from 3 nights at the Hotel Becquer and can't recommend it enough. The location is exactly where I'd want to be, just over the river from Triana and within an easy walk to all the main attractions and good places to eat. There's also a large El Corte Ingles just up the road with a decent supermarket for anything you might need. The hotel itself looks great, has very helpful and attentive staff, and does a very good breakfast buffet. While the view from the room/balcony wasn't exactly panoramic (even from the 6th floor) the room itself was incredibly quiet for such a central location. Bathroom was large and came with everything that you'd expect. Very large and comfortable bed. Free coffee from the lounge, the hotel kept our bags safe on the day we left while we walked around town, and the taxi rank is just outside the door. Really couldn't have asked for more. Excellent place to stay. Collapse

Very pleasedwith our choice. Room was clean and well appointed with comfortable beds (two singles pushed together) a choice of pillows, and blackout curtains - all of which ensured an excellent sleep after long days exploring the sights. Bathroom had a bath and some toiletries although not lavish. Did not use the bar or the breakfast buffet. There are so many cafes nearby where the local breakfast fare of tea/ coffee and tostada etc more than adequate for 3 euros or so leaving room for lunch. Within easy walking distance of everywhere (Cathedral/ Alcazar/ Plaza de Espana/ Mirador/ Triana). Quite close (10 minutes walk) from Plaza De Armas bus station for airport bus although we got a taxi for around 24-29 euros depending on time. Reception staff very helpful, especially Enrique, who sorted out an internet booking for us for the Flamenco Show in Triana Market - by far the best (Casa la Teatro). Looking forward to a return visit to Seville and would definitely stay here again. Collapse

This is a great hotel where customer service really does come first - where they are prepared to go that "extra mile" for guests. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the old town, cathedral and large shopping area. The river is close by. We booked directly with the hotel via its website. It was simple to do and I would recommend doing your booking this way. We then had an email asking us to book in online and if we had any service requests. I completed the form and as we had booked a twin room - asked for a double bed and four soft pillows. We arrived and I didn't really expect the hotel to acknowledge my online check-in or request. To my surprise they did! The room was large and comfy with a big double bed and four soft pillows. We also had a present - a bowl of jelly sweets. There was a free in-room safe as well as tea/coffee making facilities. On our first night I left my coat in the bar area and when I enquired the next morning I discovered that they had given it to the leader of a tour party which had stayed overnight and had been in the bar with us during the previous evening. I explained that we weren't travelling with them and they promised to sort out the mistake. To be honest, I wasn't hopeful of getting my coat back. Afterall it was my error and I could understand why the hotel thought the coat belonged to someone from the tour party. We left the hotel and on our return a few hours later - and much to my surprise - I was presented with my coat! Excellent service. We had free wifi in the room, which was good and reliable. On one login I was asked what I thought of the hotel, I replied that the sound limiter on the TV remote meant we couldn't hear what was said on the English TV channels (they had BBC and ITV). I hadn't come away on holiday to watch the television but it was annoying when you couldn't hear what they were saying when you occasionally switched it on. On our return to the room there was a note saying the limiter on the remote had been removed and an apology for the inconvenience. Again excellent customer care and service. We only had breakfast once in the hotel. The waiting staff were attentive and there was a good selection of hot and cold food. We eat out the rest of the time. There are lots of bars and eating places nearby. Cross the river and in the local cafes you can have a Spanish breakfast for about 3 Euros! This part of the city is great to explore. The cathedral is well worth a visit - it is one of the three largest in the world and contains, amongst many other artefacts, the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Don't rush your visit there is much to seek and pay extra for an audio guide - it is well worth it. Also do go up the Giralda Tower - it is mostly a ramp (I think you can even get up the slopes in a wheelchair and there are numerous stopping off places). The last bit to the top is accessed by about 15 steps and the view from there is amazing. We also had a horse carriage ride around the city and would have liked to have returned to the Plaza de Espana and park, but ran out of time. Another must see is the Metropol Parasol - a massive modern structure with great views around the city from the top of el Mirador. Underneath the modern structure are recently excavated Roman remains which are open to the public. Finding your way in to both wasn't easy. The entrances are on the ground floor and you basically have to walk around the structure until you find them. Also it was a little confusing with two pay desks. One was for the el Mirador - you go up in a lift to the top - and the other to see the Roman remains, which are well worth seeing as well. You get a real feel for how the city looked at that time. We flew into Malaga - took the train from the airport and got off at the Maria Zambrano station in the city - the ticket costs less than 2 Euros one-way and you buy it from the easy to use machine at the airport station. We then switched to the main line service. There are two trains - one takes 2 1/2 hours and the faster train does the trip in 2 hours. We got a return ticket in the booking office for about 45 euros - it is about 70 euros for the fast train. Since both were leaving about the same time we saved money and travelled on the clean and comfortable slower commuter train. There is airport style security at the mainline station - so do allow extra time to get to your platform, which again is clean and a comfortable space to wait for your train. We got off at the Santa Justa station in Servile and took a taxi to the hotel. The driver charged us 17 Euros, despite us asking for a price and being told it would be around 12-13 Euros. There is a taxi rank opposite the hotel and we only paid 9 Euros for the same return journey! You guess it the first driver went the long way around. The advice we were given after the first journey was to ask the price before getting into the cab, which we did, and then if we feel we have been overcharged to ask for a ticket. This must show what we have paid and the taxi driver's licence number (be sure to check that is on it). Very often when you do request a ticket the price comes down! I thought the hotel was great, loved Serville and would certainly like to visit both again. Collapse

We stayed for three nights. Hotel Becquer is well placed for sightseeing approx 10 minutes from Cathedral. Hotel is very clean, breakfast has a good buffet selection. Staff were all very helpful & friendly and as it was my birthday they left a complimentary bottle of Cava in our room which was a very nice touch. I'd stay here again. Collapse
