Found an offer for a dinner bed and breakfast special whilst looking for a last minute break away with my husband and dog. Good location if you like to be remote but a train station right next door (could be a little loud at times). The dog was incredibly well catered for, little towels everywhere for muddy paws after long walks, treats on the bars and lots of fuss from the staff. Pool is slightly over sold as it’s a very small shallow kids pool not suitable for swimming but still nice to relax in! Only area that needs a lot of work is the service. One lady in the drift inn (DGM i think) tries very hard but maybe could invest in a little more training for the rest of the team. On the second night we ordered a bottle of red wine and the waitress said she didn’t know what the label looked like so we’d have to pick another.... also have to asked to get be or orders and remind them about a number of orders and drinks etc also ending up having a lot charged back to the room in error! I don’t want to be to critical as most the staff where young and have to start somewhere so good on them! Had we not have been on DBB I would possibly have gone elsewhere on night two and three. Also be aware that the internet doesn’t work! Generally a good stay and would go back. Collapse
Nice room shame about the dinning experience.

This was my third time of staying at the Beaulieu Hotel and the first since their recent Jan 2018 refurbishment. Room very nice following the refurbishment but the hotel no longer has its restaurant! Meals now taken at the adjacent Drift Inn, sorry but pub food/dinning experience is no substitute for the food quality, ambiance and level of service the used to be provided when the hotel had its own restaurant. I’m afraid I won’t consider using this hotel again in its current format. Collapse
Slightly unusual experience

We were given a Christmas gift of an afternoon tea voucher at The Beaulieu Hotel. We booked for 2.30 and upon arrival were directed to the lounge area where a table had been laid in readiness. I think the hotel has undergone refurnishment/redecoration as the lounge/bar area was a very pleasant space in which to enjoy our afternoon. Upon enquiry the waitress advised they were able to provide decaffinated tea and brought up a pot in next to no time. The food then arrived a few minutes later and she advised she would check back on us shortly to refill the pot if needed, no problem. We each had a triangle sandwich of egg mayo, ham and onion chutney (the ham was so thickly cut it could have passed as a gammon steak) and smoked salmon and cream cheese. Half a Scotch egg each, a slice of pork pie and another of sausage roll - something different from "the norm". The most delicious scone I've had for an afternoon tea with jam and cream. Other sweet things including a raspberry & lemon tartlet, Dorset apple cake and a very odd choux pastry finger with a "stick" of chocolate fondant in the middle - rather unappetising and somewhat dry. In all the time we were enjoying our tea not one member of staff nor other guest came into the area where we were sitting. Not once did anyone check if everything was alright or if we needed more tea. Eventually my husband went to the reception to ask if it was possible to have teapot refill and a different waitress appeared. I advised her we had asked for decaffinated tea and she said no problem. After rather a wait she reappeared with a pot of tea apologising that they didn't have decaffinated!! I explained the other teabags did say decaff but she was having none of it. Don't get me wrong - a pleasant and polite enough individual but (a) what happened to our original waitress who promised to return with more decaff tea and (b) how come within half an hour they'd run out of the stuff! Such a pity there was no ambience or atmosphere in the place - not their fault there were no other guests or visitors but would have been nice if someone had checked on us at least once. Collapse

Lovely views across the open forest, very good (and filling) breakfast, at The Drift Inn, on site but next door.
