First and foremost, the greeting we received at the reception at this hotel was absolutely dreadful. We were given a band told our room number then off we went trying to find our room. There was nothing about where anything was like the restaurant, bars, pools etc. The room was okay, which we would expect considering we payed extra money for a refurbed one. Only fault is we asked for a superior sea view room and all we got was mountains and a slight glimmer of the sea. When we complained to reception, they shrugged us off telling us that the hotel was fully booked (which it quite clearly wasn’t). So not good from day one. Second day in and we went to go see our rep for the hotel to see if there was anything she could do to help us only to find she was no help at all. She told us in order to go elsewhere we would have to pay £200+. Day 3 we woke up to find the main pool at the hotel fenced off with people in dust mask and gas masks all walking around with industrial equipment with them. Turned out to be 10 day pool maintenance. No staff at the hotel informed us neither did our travel company so we had to find out from the bar staff that we couldn’t use this pool from the remainder of our holiday! As the work was going on large amounts of dust were being blown across the only remaining pool we could use, which caused my girlfriends asthma to play up. At one point one of the metal fences fell into the pool because nothing was holding them down until this point! When they started to lacquer and paint the pool the smell was horrendous and the fumes coming off them were awful, which could be really dangerous considering children from the age of 1 were playing in the pool. The food at this hotel was bad also as by the time you got back to the table it was all luke warm. And there was no verity what so ever through out the days and was nothing really cultured to the island. The entertainment was dull, having to listen to some people doin karaoke or someone balancing something on a knife etc... During all of this not once were my girlfriend and I apologised to either from the staff at the hotel and our rep or our travel agents and quite frankly that is disgusting! The bar staff are the only credit to this hotel being friendly and polite throughout our time there. Over all this hotel is supposed to deliver 4 star service something which was none existent during our stay. We will not be returning to this hotel as it was completely awful and really did ruin our first holiday away together!!! Collapse
Certainly not a 4star

We are regular visitors to Lanzarote but we were very disappointed with this Hotel. Some of the rooms have been updated, but ours was old fashioned and was in need of a make over. The food was good but very cold and to many cats walking round the dinning room. On our second week they emptied the pool to paint, plenty of noise and dust, but we were not told about this when we booked, if we had we would chose another Hotel. A lot of people complained but the managent didn't seem interested. We would not stop in this Hotel again and would not rate it as a 4 star. Collapse

Pleasantly Surprised We have just returned from two weeks holiday at the Beatriz Playa Spa and I have to say we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The hotel was bright and clean and the upgraded rooms were excellent with modern furniture and a first class bathroom. The whole of the two weeks the staff were decorating the hotel for Christmas to a high standard and sadly we did not see the lit decorations before we left. The buffet restaurant had a very good selection with regards to the food on offer and if you like a full English breakfast and steak and prawns for your lunch and dinner you are in luck here in fact I could not believe the selection on offer. They have two Al la carte restaurants Italian and Oriental but these are also buffet service but made a nice change. The Oriental food could have been hotter but with cold plates the food soon got cold. The main show bar in the evening provided some very good entertainment with visiting acts including an El Divo tribute act that was very good. Three times a week there was a singer outside the sale bar that was popular. The location of the hotel is good as right outside you have a beach and excellent promenade that stretches for miles and makes for a nice walk. One has to mention that the hotel is close to the airport runway and yes it can be noisy from the planes they did not fly from 11pm till 7am. but it did not stop us having an enjoyable holiday and if you are a plane spotter you are in for a treat. The first week we said we would not come again because of the noise but by the second week you just accepted it. Maybe the drink helped. The bus to Playa de Carmen was a good 15 mins walk if you knew the way, we had to follow people who did. We much preferred the quieter area, apart from the planes, away from the shops along the beach. Every member of staff we had contact with was polite and most helpful all credit to them and the hotel. For Thomas cook guests there was an invitation to a BBQ once a week in the pool restaurant and boy did the steaks and prawns go down well. You could drink Cava from breakfast till the evening and the drinks were good. Plenty of tea and coffee stations too. The big question is would we go back to this hotel again I would not say No. Collapse

We returned to the Beatriz Playa after a few years absence and was impressed with the changes to the main restaurant. The quality of the food and the variety of choice is much better than the last time we were here. The hotel and outside areas are kept in immaculate condition. The reception staff checked us in very quickly and were friendly and helpful. We will return to this hotel again. We did not mind the aircraft noise. Collapse
