Ten minutes later, husband's plastic chair broke and he landed on the balcony and hit head on a.c.. Went to office and told manager gone, what you wan me to do? Finally got manager and he took report and pictures of chair. Only want to call met to record injuries. People on hot tub doing unmentionable things. Women walking around on balcony topless. Very sketchy place. NIGHTMARE ON ROOSEVELT. Collapse

We checked in and we checked right out! It felt like the moment you walked in you were being bitten by bugs, it was disgusting. Don't even waste your time thinking about staying at this place. This place has a lot of potential but as it stands they've put no effort into this place. the pool was full of leaves the air conditioning didn't work, and was rusty, the outside bars were abandoned and the rooms smelled like a stale smoke! The Banana Bay Resort is nothing short of a catastrophe, a place that probably should not be in business. Let me start off by sharing the facts of my one night stay. - Stayed in room 202 - The smoke alarm was missing from my room (removed from the wall) - The balcony light is not controllable and cannot be completely blocked from shining into the room. - The room had two remote controls, neither one turned the TV on / off - The bed creaks and squeaks because it’s made up of same material wicker baskets are. - Toilet runs constantly. - Doesn’t appear the bathroom drain has been cleaned since Clinton was in office. - Pool furniture is in disrepair. - The message light on my phone blinked throughout the night, couldn’t retrieve the message. - Front desk did not answer the phone when trying to resolve issues at 9 and 11 pm. - Couldn’t get steady warm water for showering, it alternated between hot / cold every 30 seconds. - The property was gross and not well maintained. What makes all of these things unacceptable? The $199 + tax per night does. When I checked in, the first question from the front desk attendant was, “Do you have a lighter?”. I thought it was an odd question, but I think it could be tied into the fact my room was missing the smoke detector. Speculation aside, I lost half a day of my vacation because the bed in this room was crap, so much so, ambien, advil pm and other sleep medication couldn’t put me down because it was uncomfortable, noisy in addition to multiple other room issues. This property is not unique, not special and not worth the $199+tax a night I was paying. The only thing this property does right, it allowed me to cancel the rest of my reservation without charging me. Any ramada inn or howard johnson is light years ahead of this place in every category. After losing half a day because of my lack of sleep, I booked into the Sheridan for $219 per night. The Sheridan is across from the beach on the south side of the island, across from beach with amazing rooms. Hopefully Banana Bay can fix their property and bring it into alignment with others in that price range or it should lower its prices. In their current state, they should not charge more than $75 a night. Collapse

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. The hotel is located back from a main road, which was nice to be away from all the traffic. It is about 2 miles (an easy bike ride) to old town from the hotel. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful in answering questions. Our room was clean, but the entire place is in need of some upkeep and updating. We had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in our room. The continental breakfast consists of bagels, cereal, and waffles, not much in the way of protein (it is free so no complaints). The beach area overlooks the Gulf and is very relaxing and peaceful with several places to sit. Wifi access is limited to the breakfast and check-in area. We saw manatees everyday in the marina. You won't need an alarm clock because the roosters start cockadoodle-doing about 4AM. They roost in the trees right outside of the rooms, which makes it impossible to ignore so bring earplugs if you think this will bother you. The price per night is very reasonable when compared to other Key West options. Collapse

Rented two rooms for 2 nights each. All comments apply to both rooms. THe nonchalant, disinterest attitude of the front desk person carries over to the entire place. Never met a front desk person in our travels who displayed total disinterest. The hotel is messy, in need of many repairs ( bathroom needs repair of counter top, faucets ran slowly, under sink cabinet doors do not close and are broken; balcony tiles are loose and uneven; room interior - handles missing from drawers, stain on dust ruffle, sliding door security rod missing, coating of dust on room mirror, baseboard broken and missing; outside area not tidy; gates to pool well worn and not locking, fencing in need of paint, bug infestations outside of room doors. No safes in rooms. Business center is a misnomer.) We expected something above what we got given the room charges of $250/night. We realize it's Key West and because of its popularity and time of year we expect prices to be "up" but this is ridiculous for the condition of this place. We have stayed in their other hotel previously and found it to be several cuts above what we got here. Lastly, they charged an incorrect amount to my credit card. An amount different that what was quoted thru Booking.com we would NOT recommend this place to anyone. They are preying on the Key West attraction. The only redeeming thing is that due to sightseeing we didn't have to spend much time there. Collapse
