Having read other reviews of this hotel I am wondering if the guests were in the same place as myself and my husband! I don't normally write a review if it's not good but felt in this case it was warranted. Positives: The staff were incredibly hospitable and friendly. Bedroom and bathroom were very clean. Musician in bar was very enjoyable. Lovely walks around the golf course. Negatives: Beds were of poor quality with two singles pushed together to make double. Could feel springs through the bedding. Not comfortable at all. No bottled water in room. Not acceptable for a four star hotel. I had to fill kettle with tap water from bathroom sink to make a cup of tea. Food littered on bar and restaurant floors. At one time I did see a member of staff using a carpet sweeper in one particular area but obviously didn't have time to clean the rest of the floor. Food in restaurant was just OK. Vegetables were cold as was my husband’s steak. Breakfast was self service. Waitress refilled fried egg warmer with COLD eggs. My tea was also cold. Extension lead beside toaster looked liked it had been stored in a shed - in fairness it was covered with a napkin but surely it could have been wiped down or even hidden better! On checkout the receptionist asked me if everything was OK with my stay. I told her it wasn't. I proceeded to tell her about the cold breakfast for which she apologised and said she would pass on the information. My husband complained about the lack of bottled water in the room. Her response was to offer it to us there and then. To be honest it seemed liked the staff were used to the complaints. I actually felt bad for them as none of the issues we had were their fault. In summary I would not return to this hotel. It is lack lustre, possibly under staffed and seems to rely on large events such as weddings, school reunions, 80th birthday parties and the like for their business. Not a four star experience but well done to the staff for doing their best. Collapse

My husband and I got married at the Ballykisteen Hotel in August 2016 and we wouldn't have changed a thing. Helen Leddy, the wedding coordinator, was so friendly and helpful and it made the whole experience stress-free and more enjoyable as a result. We live in the UK and were a little concerned about planning an overseas wedding initially, but we needn't have been. Any questions we had were answered immediately, and it seemed that none of our requests were too much for Helen and the staff. We felt completely reassured during the planning process and then the actual wedding day was perfect. The food and service were also amazing, which the guests commented on. Thank you to Helen and the staff for our wonderful wedding experience. Collapse

We visit Ballykisteen quite frequently, however the customer service on our last visit was awful. We had intended ordering bar food, had called ahead to make sure they were serving, arrived at 4.45 , were given our menus then we waited, and waited and waited. Gave up at 5.30 and walked out. There were four staff behind the bar, it wasn't terribly busy but I noted that if you weren't with a wedding or golfing group then the staff just weren't interested. Collapse
