We stayed for ten days half board returning yesterday 4th August. We have had an amazing time. Cannot fault the hotel at all. We have two children aged 9 & 11. This was the first holiday in some time where we have not had to fight at the crack of dawn for sun loungers or for a table in the evening. Breakfast is pretty much what you'd expect for a buffet but evening meal was great. Food was lovely and each night had a theme, Chinese, Mexican etc with lots of choice and things to suit the children too. Our room had a fridge and sea view and was kept very clean. The pool area is also kept spotless. Wasnt sure about the salt water before we came but it's really ok not too salty not like the sea the kids didn't mind at all. There is entertainment in the evening but it's all good, nothing cheesy or dragging you up to make a fool of yourself. All the staff are great, friendly and helpful and work hard day and night. The location is close enough to walk in one direction to a beautiful beach and the other into Carvoeiro Town where you will find everything you could need. Luved Portugal and luved Baia Cristal. Came home happy and relaxed. Collapse

We booked this on a Bed and Breakfast Basis as wanted a base for walking and exploring around the coast line of the area. The Hotel is very clean with friendly polite staff. The rooms are what you would expect but the shower and bathroom are a bit dated with some maintenance needed on shower heads (they nearly hurt) and shower doors. Ours didn't close properly so flooded the bathroom when we had a shower. (we told reception when leaving so maybe sorted by now) Maybe not a four star but we didn't use the sauna and steam rooms which looked very nice and clean. We only used the swimming pool on returning a couple of times from long walks and found we had to wait for sunbeds as all taken but again didn't bother us a you could always get a table and chairs for refreshments. Teenage children seemed to take over the pool when we were there (late afternoon) jumping and pushing each other in but again this is what you would expect in School Holidays and why we didn't hang around the pool for long. The closest beach Praia De vale Centaines is beautiful but has step steps to access it. We loved it but families and less able might find difficult. We walked during the day along the coastlines which is stunning and got to explore many coves and caves but need to be quite fit and sure footed. In the evenings we walked along the new path they have just completed so this enables prams and pushchairs an easy 15 to 20 min walking into town beside the road which is a pleasant walk and road not too busy. In town there are plenty of restaurants and things to do and families are well catered for and there is a real friendly happy feel to it. Also great food. All in all a superb Holiday which we loved and would love to return some day after exploring more of the Algarve coastline. Collapse

I would rate this a 3 star defiantly not a 4star. Some staff are friendly some seem fed up like they have been doing it too long. Rooms are clean, basic and dated. We requested a quiet room and it was very peaceful. Although sitting above the beach in the cliff it's a steep walk down to the beach (about 10-12minutes) not ideal with kids and a lot of stuff to carry. You can only sunbath till 2pm when the tide comes in and then you have to move and can return after 3.30 when the tide has gone down. Pool side is kept clean and a bar to the side that plays not too intrusive music but needs to get another cd. We were Breakfast only. Water was €2 a bottle Diet Coke €3 a can but if you walk 15minutes into town you can pick up bits cheaper. Nice variety of authentic evening entertainment nice and gentle. Collapse

Loved loved loved this hotel and town! The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The rooms are really clean and comfortable. Bathroom shower was a little dated but the rooms were spacious and maid service everyday. Staff went out of their way to help with the baby. Breakfast was superb with great choice! We didn't do all inclusive but putting cash behind reception to pay for drinks and food was good. The swimming pool was lovely. Shocked it was salt waster in the main pool but normal water in the baby pool. Plenty of sun loungers and fantastic views! Supermarket wasn't far downhill but uphill on the way back and the pavements were gravel and not very pram friendly! Luckily we didn't have too many steps to get to our room with the pram. We went to a wedding and most nights met up with friends. We did see the animal show one evening and the baby loved it! I had a massage In the spa that was on offer and madelena was very lovely. Indoor pool but you need to wear swimming caps. Indoor gym. Fantastic hotel and will be returning and would recommend. Collapse
