My husband and I got married here and we had a lot of family and friends stay here as well. The staff really went out of their way to ensure that my husband and I, as well as our respective families were made to feel welcome during our stay. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a wet towel and a cold welcome drink (mint lemon). My husband and I as well as our guests were also personally escorted by a Bab Al Shams staff to each of our rooms upon check in, and we were walked through in detail about the room's specific amenities. For our specific room, the hotel made sure that we had a welcome fruit basket, a bouquet of flowers, as well as a bottle of champagne to congratulate us on our pending nuptials. They even drew a hot bath for us upon our arrival to ensure that we felt welcomed and relaxed right from the get go. Their rooms had traditional Arabic design and architecture which maximizes your total desert resort experience. The view of the desert from their infinity pool was amazing as well. the weather during our stay was so comfortable you could lounge all day. The buffet from Al Forsan was excellent, it has an outdoor dining area which allowed you to enjoy a view of the desert and the pool. We also had a family dinner at Al Sarab Rooftop lounge. While the portions were big (we recommend sharing), they were of great quality. Not to mention, you also have a great view of the sunset while having dinner at the Al Sarab rooftop. Special shoutout to Chef Amit who prepared our food and wedding cake during our wedding reception at Al Shurouq. All our guests were impressed by the delicious food and its presentation during our wedding reception. Special shoutout to Szofia as well who ensured that the food was served on time and accurately to each guest during the reception. As well, thanks a lot to Princess who helped and worked with us for booking this event and the dinners and the rooms. Lastly, we would like to thank and give a special mention to the Bab Al Shams housekeeping team who cleaned our rooms early every morning (while we were all out for breakfast), who pressed my husbands' and his brothers' suits during our wedding day (at such short notice too!), and who always made sure to make us feel welcome and well taken care of during our wedding day by leaving us complementary desserts and another bottle of champagne :p Bab Al Shams, you made our wedding and our stay there very, very memorable. Thank you so so much! Collapse

BAS is a destination resort everyone told us about when we moved to Dubai years ago. We visited other luxury desert resorts and hotels during staycations as - frankly - BAS's prices left us stunned. Dubai visitors will enjoy their stay but local residents will see the lack of attention to detail vs other options. It's a huge and well-manicured hotel; the pool area is the main attraction with several pools, rain showers, swim up bars, lounges, poolside food and drink service all overlooking the desert. I recommend the pool furthest away from the main breakfast restaurant as there are less kids. On this, THERE ARE TONS OF KIDS HERE. The Friday farmers' brunch means lots of families with kids. If you are a family, you're in luck. If you are a couple looking for a quiet retreat, you risk disappointment. I really object to paying a lot of money for a front seat pool view of kids shouting and running around. BAS needs to fix this because kids don't pay to stay in luxury hotels and discerning adults do. This alone means I am not inclined to come back. FOOD: Food for me is an integral part of a luxury hotel stay. BAS's food is fighting for average and below par for a luxury hotel. The ARABIC MEZZE PLATTERS were so-so; you can get equivalent or better in malls. The TACOS are not memorable and TACOS are not a complicated dish. The CAPRESE SALAD included under ripe tomatoes. This is really appalling. BREAKFAST was much better than the other meals; it is the standard large hotel buffet breakfast that you expect: waffles, pancakes, fruit, juices, eggs station, Indian and Chinese dishes, cakes and pastries. There are a lot of hotels in Dubai with outstanding restaurants; I've had better food driving 10 minutes up the road to Last Exit for significantly less. The AL SARAB ROOFTOP BAR is the best feature. Get there for 5pm sharp to get the best seats for the sunset view. Everyone else arrives around 5.30 by which time you are easily onto your second drink. The hotel is NOT dry. We enjoyed wine, shisha and light snacks looking out at the sunset and chatting listening to live guitar music. It is a little touristy but - to be honest - it is enjoyable. The service is quick and friendly despite how packed it gets. The wine menu is surprisingly varied and good. ROOMS: These are a very good size even for the smaller rooms with fast wifi, comfortable bed, hot showers, very large bathtubs, nespresso coffee machines, TV, private sitting areas (nice for room service) and very quiet. I would not be tempted to upgrade the room as I had more than what I needed for a weekend. The SPA treatments were excellent; I recommend booking a massage when you book your room. The SPA spaces fill up quickly and we were lucky to get an appointment. The steam room, shows and treatments are well worth it. The SPA was easily one of the best features of the hotel. Would I come back? Honestly, quite unlikely but that is because there are a lot of desert hotels in the UAE so we are spoiled for choice so we want to try them all. BAS has a fantastic reputation; if you are flying from abroad, you will get what you are looking for. My sense is that other hotels are surpassing BAS now which means it needs to focus more attention to the details so it can stand out. It's convenient location, pool facilities and spa are it's greatest attraction. It is an hour from Dubai airport and just less to major attractions like Downtown, Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Parks etc. You can visit Al Qudra Lakes and Dubai Marina etc. I highly recommend striking out and leaving the hotel to enjoy everything Dubai has to offer. We stayed here for three nights as part of a trip to Dubai. Its an excellent retreat in the desert but three nights is probably the most you would want to stay is there is very little else around here. The rooms are excellent and the setting is lovely. However the pool is a it dated and could do with a refurb. The service is ok for the level of hotel but if you complain about something then it seems to be a massive problem and they become a bit defensive rather than tackle the issue. We had an issue n the italian restaurant where we were charged for a fruit platter we had not ordered and thought was complimentary and they would not remove to from the bill. They also allow smoking at breakfast outside at breakfast - this should just be banned as its not pleasant when you are eating. The restaurants are all of a good quality although the Arabic Buffet experience is rather over priced for what you get. Overall a good experience but could try a bit harder to make the experience slightly more special. Collapse

We didn't plan to go there for our anniversary, but we were kind of forced as we have faced issues in another resort/villa. The bad experience in one place, let us discover a very nice place to go, to relax and we could really enjoy our anniversary. Service is really perfect, from reception, to restaurant, to the pool area (Subin is very friendly and made everything perfect for us) and we felt the anniversary atmosphere, with cakes, bath candles and roses and even during breakfast the day after, the waiter remembered to wish us a happy anniversary with another cake. I will recommend this place to everyone! Fantastic Collapse

You read it correct. UAE always famous by doing unbelievable things which no one else doing. This is another such investment under Jumeirah group. When you strat from Jebel Ali drive in emirates road take exit after Dubai motor city toward right side. Then drive towards really really middle of the desert. If I not mistaken almost 30KM middle of the desert. Then suddenly you will come to T junction take right and drive less than 1 km you will see one amazing gate with board standing " Bab Al Sham resort". If you found it which mean you are already their :D Now it is up to you how you enjoy the place. Having very nice restaurant and even they can arrange some desert safari. If you don't want to stay one night on this place better you visit place evening and come out night, so You can really enjoy desert. I guess they preferred dark inside of their restaurant. This is one place you will get some chance to experience how all Emiratis lives in earlier time Collapse
