My friend and I visited the B Ocean for three nights at the beginning of December to celebrate her birthday. First off, I do want to compliment the staff at B Ocean. Every staff member I encountered during my stay was courteous and friendly. From check-in, to housekeeping, to the beach, to the bar. We reserved a room in the Clipper building and received a room with two beds on the third floor with a nice ocean-view. The room was not especially clean looking and it was on the smaller side. There was not even room for a chair in the room, but we did have a nice balcony with two chairs. Housekeeping was very accommodating and brought us extra water and Aveda bath products. No slippers or bathrobes were provided, which I would have expected of a hotel at this price level. We headed straight down to the beach and the friendly beach attendants found us the ideal chair for the late afternoon sunset. Drinks and food were available on the beach for a reasonable price. Happy hour at the pool bar starts at 4PM and at the inside bar happy hour begins at 5PM. Beer, wine, and well drinks were available for $5. On Friday night, we went to the famed Mermaid Show. Make sure you sit on the left side of the room at the bar if you want to see the show. Unfortunately, we were seated on the right side and did not get to see the majority of the show. Something I found odd about the B Ocean is they do not decorate for Christmas. Bah humbug! Every other establishment I have visited in December has up decorations and these decorations really add to the enjoyment at a hotel, restaurant, or shop. I definitely feel the B Ocean is overpriced for what you get. Even though we received one night of our stay for $1 since it was my friend's birthday, the prices for our overall stay were still too high. The rooms are somewhat motel like and the clientele at the hotel is not the classiest. For $100/night I would consider staying here again, but I would not be willing to pay any more. Collapse
Not that fancy

I went there to scape from the cold and busy schedule. The room view was great but they had construction on my floor, I woke up everyday with the construction noise. The front desk staff gave my room to someone on the second day by mistake. Parking is $32.00 a day and the garage is filthy and dark. The only good thing on the facilities is that they are by the beach and you will get two free chairs. Other than that I had a horrible experience. Collapse
Do not expect any frills - this is a 3-star place

Got this on Hotwire (advertised as a 4-star property - which it most certainly is not). Room was was located across the street from the beach, requiring a lengthy trek from the lobby involving two different elevators and a skywalk. One of the two elevators in the remote tower building was broken for our entire stay, so there was lots of waiting and stopping at every floor any time we left our room. The maintenance staff generously left us a pair of dirty sweatsocks from a previous guest on the floor when we arrived, so that was nice. The room did have a decent view, but the windows hadn't been washed in a very long time. Overall, room was not very clean. Lots of weird little annoyances about the way the hotel is run and designed - for example: -We arrived at 2:30pm and were not permitted to check in until 4pm. To be fair, 4pm is the posted check-in time, but I can't remember many hotels that actually didn't let me check in by the middle of the afternoon. -The "Wreck Bar", which seems to be this property's coolest feature, was closed for the entirety of our two-day stay. Apparently it only opens on Friday and Saturday, despite promotional materials that say otherwise. -The bathroom door in our room was too big for the door frame (this is hard to believe), and so could never actually close. -The aforementioned long walk to the tower building -The overflowing pile of garbage just off the front of the lobby, which you walk past anytime you enter or leave the hotel. -The main pool by the beach, which is completely shaded for approximately 23.8 hours per day. The location and beach access is great, so if you could get it for a fantastic deal relative to all the other resorts in Ft Lauderdale, go for it. But don't expect anything special in terms of service or charm. Collapse
No way this is 4 stars

Stayed at the B two nights. It’s clearly a discount hotel hiding as 4 star. I would not stay here again unless I was on a serious budget and had children with me. The beach access was the best part. The pool is tiny. Every wall and floor were dirty. Only one elevator was in use in the 2nd building. The air conditioning was out in the 8th floor hallway. Very little security in building especially with parking garage/bridge location. Room was just adequate. I’d say this place is 3 stars. Collapse

Not a bad experience. Our room was in a weird location although it kinda had a view. We were in a tower, had to go outside a hall and enter in the middle of the pool area. We were at an angle to see the other half of the hotel, picnic area and part of the beach. While trying to get ready in the morning I had to fully close the curtains and not just the sheers because a maintenance worker was working on the roof might in front of my window at 9am, awkward. They have been through a hurricane recently however if you have 2 restaurants open it would be nice to offer a different menu and not just one offering a few select things. Best part- they are within walking distance to a water taxi (slightly sketch area at night and no lights on the pier once dark). The concierge was helpful in selling us tickets and going over how to use the app (new since my last visit and highly suggest). The water taxi is the best way to take in the sights. Collapse
