Had a five night stay here - and was pleasantly surprised. hotel spotlessly clean, staff very attentive and helpful - lots of steps to keep you fit - pool area was lovelly with plenty of spaces to sit and relax. Room excellent sized with everything we needed. n Food in the evening was a little disappointing for my hubby who was a vegetarian - not much choice for him - however breakfast made up for it , lunches by the pool were sufficient to last you through the day. Drinks excellent - they were strict of only two drinks at any one time pp to save wasteage. Evening entertainment was basic but enjoyable. Area excellent - good amenities all round.- can walk to old town along beach in 20 mins or get hotel bus - excellent service. Plenty of very affordable restaurants and bars closeby. Would definitely use this hotel again. Collapse

I visited in January this year, and the hotel was average in most thgings; but the wifi was the poorest I've encountered in Europe. I got a room with a sea view, and the sun is on the balcony all day, so that is a plus. The food has more variety, and on the whole, is also better. Sadly, the main downside is still the poor wifi,in the reception area- you have to pay for the wifi in the room. In 2017,this isn't good enough. Also, there are a lack of English channels on the TV ,including BBC World - they tell me they cant get the signal??? Collapse
Rude staff - super low quality room - how are they allowed to stay open?

We were travelling with friends for a short break and happened to find the alpha rooms deal at the Auramar. It turns out some things are too good to be true! I have seen other unfortunate reviews that talk about the Auramar and AlphaRooms relationship which clearly is bad one but figured “it will never happy to me”. The long and short of it is Alpha rooms sell you one product and the Auramar give you another. If you dare debate this with the Auramar staff on check-in then they will go for you. I was particularly annoyed at the member of staff who kept saying “you’re not in England now mate” – he seemed to despise us English and that was very clear. Never before have I seen such aggressive staff - they were rude and started shouting despite their lobby being full of other guests (which indicates they just do not care about the reputation of their "hotel"). After viewing the room, it was clear this was not what we had purchased - the room was basic and smelt of a horrible "ion" smell. The sink smelt awful and that of course spread into the bedroom. The beds were thin and no doubt would not have made for a good night’s sleep. Thankfully we travel to the area a lot so was able to source a room in our normal hotel of choice - never again will we try something new. Over the following few days it was very noticeable that we saw a lot of people with the Auramar all-inclusive wrist bands on eating and drinking in the bars around the area - upon speaking to them they confirmed our suspicions that the food and drink at the hotel were as bad as the customer service. There is nothing worse than bad customer service and these guys have that in the bucket load. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. We learnt a harsh lesson so please learn from our mistake! Booked this hotel via Thomas Cook for a bargain 4 night stay so honestly wasnt expecting much. Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived the reception staff are lovely they handed us a map and explained where everything was, times, the free shuttle bus into town times and we paid the mandatory €10 deposit for the key which you get back of course. Our room was located in block A the main building which was handy to the on site shop and reception. The key is a bit different its magnetic! Our room was one of the refurbished rooms which was actually nice, clean and the balcony was a sun trap all day which was glorious. To get to the restaurant you have to go down many steps (inside or outside) so i cant stress enough this hotel is not for anyone with mobility issues or disabilities. The restaurant is quite big and theres plenty to choose from at the buffet, its not amazing food but theres bound to be something you like. Plus get the jug of sangria its lovely. Drinks in the hotel are good but i mainly stuck to rum and coke. The restaurant staff can be sulky yes but i found only the men were, as my partner went to take cutlery from another table as we didnt have any and a male member of staff told him off. The pool bar is much better than the restaurant as the food quality is higher and staff are so lovely, they even asked my partner to try his drink first to make sure he liked it. Pool itself was too cold to use this time of the year but warm enough to sit outside and read beside it. The seagull issue is really not that bad, they dont bother you if you DONT feed them. Wifi can be accessed in the lobby. Listen you dont go on holiday to sit on your phone but if you feel like being anti-social you can get a wifi dongle from reception for €15 for 3 days which enables you to access wifi anywhere and you get that money back again. Indoor pool i cant comment on as i didnt go into but seemed popular. The beach is accessed through a gate beside the pool which you get given a code for. Steep rocky climb down to the steps so once again only agile people can use. Beach is lovely and 10 minute walk to the old town which is a must! The entertainment consisted of a bird show which was good and €10 for a photo with the birds. We also saw a reptile show, folk show and played bingo. The man who plays the keyboard before the shows start is laughable, so dire its funny. He sang "Country Roads" and it sounded like Donkey roads so much. All in all dont believe all you read about this hotel its not the Ritz but its not terrible either and a good base for a short stay. Collapse

I stayed at the Auramar beach resort in May 2017 for 1 week with my 25 year old son. I found this hotel excellent value for money. Room could do with updating but clean and spacist. The hotel was situated on a beautiful beach the best beach i've ever seen. You can walk the length of the beach in about 20-30mins which takes you into the main town full of shops bars and restaurants. At night the town is very lively suitable for all ages. The staff are very friendly the food was the usual all inclusive variety warm never hot Collapse
