Auramur Beach Resort, Albefeura is a 3* complex which offers exactly what it says on the tin. It is tired yes but by the same token it gives everything you need for a half decent holiday. The staff are friendly, although we did witness one altercation with a guest by the guy on reception but I think that was more frustration from a communication point rather than bad manners! We arrived nearly three hours before check in so in fairness the rooms were never going to be ready so we were invited to store our cases in the luggage room which we happily did. We were given our all inclusive wristbands immediately so were able to avail ourselves of refreshments from then on ... Something not all hotels offer. Nice welcoming touch! We went down to the pool bar and were surprised by the choice of hot and cold snacks on offer and a good range of drinks, hot, soft and alcoholic were available albeit in cheap plastic beakers but I guess this is a result of health and safety regulations out of doors. The food is good throughout the establishment, plenty of choice and it is hot and in the unlikely case you need it hotter there are microwave ovens about to nuke your meals if desired. I read many derogatory comments on the food but to be honest, although not fussy, I found nothing wrong. I am not sure what some require of a 3* hotel! The continental toasters are the usual bottleneck but other than that you did very little queuing and the food was always topped up. Some places I have stayed at "give up" on late diners and the food becomes passed its best ... Not at the Auramar, they topped up right to the end. The restaurant staff were always on hand and nothing was too much to ask! The house red at dinner was good too! However this cannot be said of the daily cocktails ... Avoid these! ... these come out of a machine and are sickly sweet and quite ghastly. The Sangria is pre-mixed too but this does fare better. Other measures are generous! and drink quality is a good 3*! The rooms like the rest of the place are tired. Cables with conduit running the walls rather than wired sockets and some dubious decorating ... but this is a sleeping facility and it scores high on that front. The beds are comfy, there is daily service, changed towels if required and bedding changed twice a week offered but not sure this was actioned in my case. There is a small kitchenette in the corner so if you remember your travel kettle you are in! There is a fridge for a sneaky bottle too, ideal for those not wanting the hike to the bars! This is one of the few downers ... The main hotel lobby has great Wi-Fi and that is where it stays!! It is not available in the bars, at the poolside or anywhere else ... So other than the lobby you are stuck with three English speaking TV news channels and Portuguese radio! To have a drink at the same time as browsing you have to do the dash down to the dance bar in the evening or to the pool bar in the day. It would be nice if they enabled all inclusive guests the opportunity to use the Lobby bar rather than this being solely a pay bar for non AI guests. To be fair 24\7 Wi-Fi is available ... but at the overpriced rate of 5€ per day! Or I guess use Portuguese offers of download data ... another expensive option. I do go on about this at length as I need to stay available even when on holiday and I was anticipating doing some study ... which I guess I still will but with the added distractions of arriving and departing guests! Free wi-fi is offered on the website with no mention of the narrow restrictions ... not in the rooms I can live with, but come on Auramar ALL public areas in the 21st Century please! That niggle aside I look forward to the rest of my week. I will be appending this appraisal at the end of my stay ... and here it is! The hotel runs a courtesy bus to the "old town" 3xtimes daily which we used on our third day, the day the heavens opened and we got very wet! This emphasised the lack of heating available in the rooms! The only remedy was to have a bath! Bathrooms are a good size, well fitted with 4-piece suite and the shower is powerful and easy to control! Because this type of hotel complex relays on the good weather the public areas were busy and the available Wi-Fi was dragged to a snail pace ... Time for a book me thinks!! Facilities are OK, entertainment varies in quality depending on the night of the week but the pool area is well maintained and the views and the adjoining beach are stunning! My room it appears is above the service area and staff entrance so noise is an issue with a constant coming and going of vehicles, some heavy with reversing alarms quite early in the morning and single glazing make for an early wake up call. Staff as you would expect are pleased to be going home so they are keen to share their joy! Also some where close is a noisy fan ... Be it an extract fan or an air conditioning unit, it has a faulty start up and has the sound of a visiting cruise liner in the fog!! Reception "don't understand"! As with most European hotels all floors are tiled so it makes for hard walking between the rooms and public areas and again it is noisy as everywhere echoes, cases rumble around like a passing express and people's inability to pick up and place chairs rather than drag makes for an ear shattering screech transcending walls and floors! So final chapter ... Yep they fixed the noisy fan ... once I found staff member who would listen ... which as thought, turned out to be a faulty aircon unit. My opinion would be, if possible, avoid block B ... The other three look to be a better bet! If you are incarcerated in "B-block" try and get a room at the top. Would I go back ... no ... only because I tend not to go back to a previous estalishment but to move on. It was apparent that many guests enjoyed their stay, and yes I did too. I finish as I started ... It's a 3* so don't expect 5*! Collapse

We stayed here for 6 nights. The hotel itself is very tired and needs updating. It is right on the beach and you can walk to the town centre in about 20 mins if not a cab is only about 6 euros. The pool is lovely but very cold. The food is nice and there is a nice selection daily. The room was cleaned daily but we found that the beds were quite hard. Overall it was a nice hotel for the reasonable price we paid. Portugal it's self is lovely and the people are very friendly. Collapse

The position of the hotel is fabulous and very close to the beach and a short work ( 20mins at a quick pace ) into albufera old town Pool area is lovely and well kept however the rooms and the rest of the hotel is tired and dated. Evening entertainment was very poor as was the quality of the drinks. Evening Meals were great fish and meat choice every night, breakfast was awful no brown or wholenel bread, tinned fruit and poor quality hot food. Collapse
