Great value for money, friendly staff and good food. Hotel overall is nice, don't expect anything outstanding but it is as good as it gets for 3* country hotel. Big bonus is a leisure centre, worth checking out once you there.

I stayed in Auburn Lodge last weekend with my fiance. We decided to celebrate our engagement in Ennis. We have a lot of friends in this area so a party weekend was exactly what we needed. Auburn Lodge was exactly what we expected. It is a country style hotel with an Irish bar and beautiful garden on the back of the hotel. There is a very relaxed atmosphere there. We were welcomed but very friendly receptionist who also told us about all best local pubs and restaurants worth going to. Our room was really nice, again very country style, I would call it retro but we expected that consider it is a 3* country hotel. Their leisure facilities are fantastic. Gym, swimming pool and sauna. It seems that was only built recently so everything is top class. We will definitely come back. Collapse

A good solid hotel in old style needing a refresh. Great service food generous but out of the seventies era with meat a two veg general quantity rather than quality which lots like but does not suit all. Very comfortable and great for large occasions. The bedrooms were comfortable and designed for family of three with an extra bed as standard. Lovely open fires everywhere which was warming and welcome now evenings are getting cold and damp. Collapse

I stayed here for one night with my husband in October 2016 using a Groupon deal voucher. This hotel is not nice at all. It is grotty, run down and hasn’t been updated in a very long time. We had to request to be moved from the original bedroom we were shown, it was like something out of Fawlty Towers (complete with brown tiled wallpaper in the bathroom and a giant old style tv on a trolley). When we requested to be moved we were told there were no superior rooms left, however after explaining that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary the receptionist was able to allocate us a different room. It’s like part of the hotel is upgraded and part isn’t. The room we were moved to was much nicer, very much a Jury’s Inn/Permier Inn style – very clean but basic enough but was like 5 star in comparison to the original room. Half the rooms have “no smoking” signs outside them and half don’t, which I assume to mean guests are allowed to smoke in them. So walking through the hallways was not one bit pleasant, as all you could smell is cigarette smoke. Two main courses in the restaurant were included as part of our package, and the restaurant manager made sure the whole restaurant knew that we were on a voucher and were only entitled to a main course unless we wanted to pay extra for starters and desserts. The restaurant menu is tiny, and while the food was grand it was nothing special by any means. Breakfast the next day was a disaster, totally unorganised and lots of large tables that would seat six to eight people despite most guests being in couples or smaller groups. The scambled egg was pretty much solid and was inedible really. There was one member of the reception staff called Chloe who was so friendly and chatty and she called a taxi for us and provided us with some great information on nice bars in Ennis town. We didn’t use the leisure centre or gym, but we had a look in and they look fine. I will never return. There are currently deals going in this hotel with Pigsback.com for €69 for one night with 2 main courses (same deal as we got) but it is 100% not worth the money. Avoid!!! Collapse
A very basic room, but convenient location.
