I don't know exactly how much we paid, but this hotel was quiet ok. Our room was more or less tidy and the roomcleaner brought every day new towels. The hotel is located well so it was possible to walk all the way down to the nightlife area. Budapest is a great city to make party and it is very cheap! The Hungarians were so antisocial and didn't even talk to stranger. Budapest has some great architecture, so it is also worth it to visit them. Collapse

Slightly worn hotel, on the edge of the city center. The Rooms were clean and ok, but could use some reform. Slept well though. Breakfast was ok. Appreciate that also gluten-free breakfast were taken into account, when asked. That was important to us. There is not much to see nearby, but that was not a problem. The Metro station (line 4) is located 200 meters from the hotel and trams are passing in front. Bus stops within short walk away. So it was fast and easy to travel around the city. For us, the hotel was just a place to rest and sleep. And this one was cheap and good enough for that! Realistic rating to Atlas City Hotel would be closer to 2/5, but the value for money and nice and helpful staff gives this place the 3rd star out of 5. Collapse

I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights at the beginning of may 16. This hotel did have one or two good parts. Firstly I had been concerned after booking this trip through Superbreaks (had done a few in UK already and hotels fab so thought nothing of it). I then checked out trip advisor, mistake. But as issues for some are not issues for others I tried to be subjective. Until I read nearer our trip about thefts, as I have just read more today. Hence my need to review after so long. I contacted superbreak, they weren't helpful and if have lost everything to change to a different hotel. Therefore I contacted the hotel direct. The manager answered my questions and concerns. Thankfully he moved us both to upgraded rooms, below standard compared standard room at the hotel in Bulgaria I love to stay at. The rooms were huge, clean, loads of storage space. We didn't get toiletries, slippers or dressing gown as mentioned in brochure about upgraded rooms. Plenty of electric sockets. Air con worked well. Doors were secure, especially when double locked, however if staff did the thefts mentioned on other reviews then no locks can prevent staff dishonesty. I thankfully didn't have that experience. Or bed bugs (yuk) which can't be helped necessarily but it is how the hotel deals with the situation that shows their commitment to the customer. Furniture in the breakfast room old and rickety, didn't feel stable, could collapse anytime and tablecloths dirty (better without) with cheap nasty serviettes, definitely more apt for hen, stag or big rowdy groups. I'm not posh but do like things to be nice and pleasant surroundings. The breakfast room was very neglected, appears if previously hotel rooms and cobbled together to make a breakfast area, and gives bad impression, the breakfast fine but elements aren't replenished when they run out, or if they were not very speedily so if you time it wrong you may not get much, or the hot items actually hot. Coffee machine good. I would not have been happy to be in noisy part of hotel (again many comparing before I travelled on here) thankfully our upgraded rooms appeared to be in a quieter part. Really peaceful and great for relaxing and sleeping after busy day in a fantastic city. Tram and metro stops a big plus. But I agree with comments about undesirables. Several around the doors of this hotel and along the street. Homeless everywhere in the park. However, that said no one begged for money or tried to hassle us. Though wouldn't advise walking around on your own. Staff ok, can't say they are amazingly helpful and friendly, making me feel unwanted as a guest. Especially when I asked if they could ring for a taxi for me (I don't speak Hungarian so thought it might be easier) the lady pulled a face like I had asked her to eat insects. They also appeared to feel taking personal calls before dealing with customers was acceptable. My trip wasn't overly cheap as a package so can't comment on cheap and cheerful. But if you want a place to lay your head after busy day sightseeing, it is fine but opt for an upgraded room. When we were there there was a large sports group in, they didn't trouble us and therefore I don't know if they caused any trouble but I wouldn't have been happy being near their rooms as naturally big groups would be noisy whether causing trouble or not. Overall Budapest amazing, definitely want to come back, the hotel not so sure i'd pay for upgraded room in that hotel but wouldn't stay in the normal rooms. The manager I dealt with prior to this trip though was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Maybe just needs a change of staff or some staff training and a refurbishment of facilities including the breakfast room. The manager shows great concern to make the hotel better for its guests, so thank you to the manager as my stay could have been awful. Collapse
