Writing this review whilst currently at the Atlantis and Normally I am having such a great time on holiday I don't even think about writing reviews until I get back home. It all began at checking in when at 3pm (check in time) to say that one room was ready and the other room will be ready in 45mins which at the time was no big deal and we just waited in the room we had(travelling with kids and parents hence the two room). So 1 hour went and no call or keys sent to the room so I called to check how long & was told someone will call me back, another 30mins went and I called again and again told someone will call back, eventually got a call back around 4ish saying that we would have to wait another 45mins for the room or can take a room which is free little more down the corridor (we requested interconnecting rooms) wanting to unpack and get going we accepted the room that was ready and were told keys would be sent to the room. So a hour goes by and eventually we get the keys at 5pm! We were better waiting for the room we wanted although who knows how long that would of really been. Now I know situations like this occurs and sometimes out of the hotels hands maybe but having paid what I have and the reputation of 5 star hotels, I would of expected at least to be kept in communication of what's happening and not been having to chase around like I did. Reading other reviews, I have to agree that the hotel and facilities are great and kids love the water parks but the feeling you get is that of a very busy hotel and we are just a number out of thousands that probably in the hotel. When we spoke to front desk about the check in issue, no apology,no remorse and at least he could of done was to offer some free drinks or anything but felt like we were holding him up. I then find out that despite being on HB, I am getting charged by restaurants for my child to eat (3 years old) who should be free so again had to go down and dispute which was sorted out but again another needless experience! My advice is that there are plenty of other hotels available and if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday then Atlantis may not be for you or it may will! Collapse

We and our 5 yo had a great experience staying at Atlantis. Some things to keep in mind, though: - Some of the restaurants get very rushy (queues of upto 20 minutes) for dinner and breakfasts (we experienced this at both Saffron and Kaleidoscope) so plan your meals keeping this in mind. - We dined at Kaleidoscope for our dinner and breakfast. The spread was lavish and adequate to serve a variety of tastes and preferences. - Evenings at the swimming pool were fantastic, especially because the sun shines on the other side of the hotel leaving the pools in shade. - One can enjoy the hotel facilities before check-in time and after check-out time. - We stayed at the rooms on the third floor but in general, higher up the floor, better the rooms. - We were slightly confused if complementary water will be available in rooms in the hotel (other hotel we stayed in the Dubai did not offer it). This is to confirm that complementary bottled water is available during the stay. - The aquarium at the hotel was nice but not great (may be, I expected more) - We also ate at TBJ once and the burgers were great (they offer a 50% discount on food for those staying at the hotel but not on drinks or meals) - Aquaventure was fun! This was never a planned trip, just a rescheduled holiday from our original destination of Cuba (we weren't allowed to go due to the hurricanes) so we felt a little unprepared for Dubai! Check In: We were booked into a Deluxe Room. We got to the hotel around 9am, checked in straight away and were told our room wasn't ready yet. We were given passes to use and told that we would be texted once our room was available. We were given access to the breakfast buffet that day, as our flight home was early and meant we would miss breakfast. Upon returning from breakfast, we double checked again at reception to see if our room was ready (as I didn't want to use my mobile data to receive a text). We were upgraded to an Ocean Deluxe Room on the 9th floor! Room: Our room was great! You walked in to a fridge, mini bar and lots of bottles of water on your right. The bathroom was huge! A bath, with a separate toilet and separate shower! The shower was brilliant with plenty of hot water! Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotions etc are all included if you like to pack light! We opted for two queen size beds. You get four huge fluffy pillows per bed and it is probably the comfiest hotel bed I have ever slept in!! We were in the West Tower so our view was at the front of the hotel looking out across the sea and down at the supercars! The air con was great, my mum even felt chilly at times! Food: You really can not fault the hotel food. We had the half board package and due to only rebooking to go to Dubai 6 days before our departure, we didn't have loads of spending money saved up. We therefore just ate in the buffet restaurants for breakfast and dinner, although there were other restaurants we could have eaten in. Kaleidoscope (East) and Saffron (West) really are buffets that cater for everyone! They advise you to pre book a table for dinner, which can be done from your room. This isn't essential but it does mean you can queue jump those that just turn up.. which saved us about 15 minutes one night when the queue was out the door! Beach: For the size of the hotel, the beach is strangely quiet! We managed to get two front row sun loungers every day regardless of what time we ventured down to the beach. There are plenty of towels available at all times of the day, and you can change them as often as you like. There is a website which you can use to order your food and drinks, with the option to either pay cash or have it charged to your room. The waiter then brings the drinks/food over to you. We also had the treat of cold towels and ice pops brought to us. For someone who isn't a fan of the beach, I really didn't mind the sand here (although wear flip flops as it can get hot around midday). The sea is beautiful! Clear and so warm! I have never been in a sea where you can just walk straight in to it! There are tiny fish in the shallow parts of the water. Pools: We only went to the pool once for about half an hour.. more to say we had been in it! That was nice and warm as well, and massively supervised. At one point, I counted 8 lifeguards on duty!! I've also never been to a hotel where the opening hours of the pools are until 9pm! So great if you have kids that need entertaining! Water park: We didn't use the waterpark at all but had free access throughout the week. I would imagine that is where a lot of people went as the beach was pretty much deserted. Cleanliness: Throughout the day, all you see is staff cleaning. Every time we used a public toilet there was someone in there cleaning them. Every evening the floors were buffed and the windows cleaned. Even the grout in the showers was clean! Excursions: We decided to go on a yacht trip on our penultimate day. This was booked through the guys on the beach who have the watersports hut down towards the waterpark. They had initially approached us on our first day and asked if we were interested. They left us with a brochure, gave us some special offers and left us to it! No pushiness.. you weren't made to feel awkward or obliged to book up.. they even apologised for taking up our time. Most days they would pop over and say hi, have a quick chat and then go on their way. Staff: All of the staff are great! They say good morning/afternoon/evening to you when you pass. None of them are creepy (being two females on our own). They are all happy to chat (if you want to) and always have a smile on their faces despite working long hours. If you wait more than about 15 seconds to be served, they will apologise. You are always called Madam! I felt totally at ease with every member of staff, so much so that it wouldn't put me off coming out to Dubai again on my own. Hotel: The hotel is huge! We only discovered The Avenue shops in the East Tower on our final evening! We had our evening photos next to the Aquarium (by Kladeiscope) which is totally mesmerising! Everywhere in the hotel was kept spotless. Helpful Tips: Half board can get pricey if you are looking to drink. A Pina Colada from the beach was 55AED and they do a special offer in the evening for two wines for 65AED. We purchased 6 bottles of wine between 2 of us at Heathrow before we left (you can buy 4 per person) and tended to have a glass before and sometimes after dinner back in our room. This saved us money and with such a great view from our room, it was the perfect end to the day! Overall, I can not fault this hotel! We had a great trip to Dubai! I would not hesitate in recommending Atlantis to anyone and would definitely come back here to stay if I were to return to Dubai. This was always the hotel that I wanted to stay at if I came to Dubai so I'm glad we got our holiday rescheduled here instead! Keep up the good work Atlantis & staff!! Collapse

Having stayed at the Atlantis before we thought we knew what to expect this time round. We were wrong. It seemed that there were more children under the age of 12 than everyone else, leading to an incident in which the pool had to be evacuated due to a messy accident. It was difficult to find anywhere to relax or read a book without the sound of shouting, crying or whining. The area by the 'Royal Pool' is always packed with people so the beach is probably your best bet if you want somewhere slightly quieter, however, your view will be of construction on the ever growing palm. Any photo you take of the sea will have what looks like car parks and unfinished concrete hotels in the background (taking a picture with the hotel in the background is hardly better). The food was what we remembered to be the good thing about the hotel but this time was pretty lacklustre and both breakfast and supper at the buffets was like feeding time at the zoo. There would be food on the floor, hands in the serving bowls and shouting. We tried to eat at 9:30, hoping it would be quieter, but it was no different. Instead we decided to eat at the proper restaurants, like the Lebanese which was delicious the first night but awful the second time we went. We also waited to have a late breakfast for when the 3rd buffet restaurant for breakfast opened, which seemed to me more adult friendly since the children cannot wait until 10 to be fed. The hotel definitely has a resort feel to it and the diving facilities remain excellent. If you are going with young children and do not want a relaxing holiday then this is the place for you, if not stay away. 4 our of our 7 days we actually left the Atlantis to spend the day at other hotels.
