Only booked this hotel last week as a late deal cancellation. We were not too sure what to expect , but having been to Riva in Lake Garda a few years ago we thought it would be better,, as both Limone and Riva loose the sun early in the evening but Malcesine holds on to the sun later in the day on that side of the lake,, n both me n hubby love the sun!! On arrival we were given roon 214 with both partial lake n mountain balcony view,,,, The best of all has to be the small but perfect pebble beach in front of our hotel. Cant tell you how amazing it was!! We had a small supermarket beside us, selling cold beers n wines, (which they open for you,,, n suppy plastic cups),,to take over to the beach,,,,really cheap...plus amazing filled rolls. Also a pizza restaurant next door doin grt takeaway stuff or eat in. Anyway,,,,back the hotel,,,on the plus side it was sooooo clean n the staff wer great. Our room had a brand new bathroom fitted ,,,tho i think the bedroom needs attention,,,having said that it was kept spotless by the housekeeping staff,,, the girl on our floor was brill...always friendly n cheerful,,,,( dont forget to tip) . The pool has a poolside bar n they also serve paninis n toasties etc,,,The only downside was the restaurant food ,,,it was a bit dodgy here n there. For instance Ravioli in curry sauce dos not work ....plus wen u order an omelette it comes with mashed potato n veg? ..Breakfast is good tho ... I would reccommend this hotel in a heartbeat n would love to return again some day. The tourist bus drops off n picks up right outside the hotel which is handy and its only €1.20 n covers the whole of the Macesine area right out to to Casonne n back. We went with Top Flight n they wer wery professional. Collapse

My first time to Italy and I can't wait to go back! Hotel was just over a hours drive away from Verona airport. Lovely drive to hotel, especially when you start arriving into Garda. We were staying at the other end so had a good half hour in the taxi looking at the lake and all the stunning views. Hotel exactly as it looks on photos. Spotlessly clean and staff very pleasant. I had previously requested a lake view, which we were granted, and what a view it was, breathtaking. Balcony a good size, we spent a couple of evenings on there with a bottle of wine from the hotel (€14) and a pizza from the resteraunt/takeaway next door. Room was a decent size, plenty of wardrobe space, bed comfy but did squeak a bit. I had read reviews that there was no kettle so I took my own with tea and coffee. Good size bathroom with shower, bidet , toilet and hairdryer. The only draw back, only 2 plug sockets. I had taken a extension lead with 2 sockets so wasn't a problem for us. Breakfast was self serve buffet style with cheeses, hams, breads, scrambled and boiled eggs. The usual. The resterraunt again was spotless with some fab views of the lake. Evening meal was fine. Luckily for us, as my partner is very fussy, you chose what you wanted the day before. Usually 3 starters, soup and 2 kinds of pastas ( huge portions) main, fish, meat and a vegi dish, 2 deserts. We ate there 4 times. We went for a steak one evening just up the road from the hotel, reasonable prices. The pool at the back of the hotel was lovely, set in lush green gardens. There was a bar with a very friendly lady serving. A small snack menu serving toasties, pizza and sandwiches. Wine €3 a glass, gin and tonic €6, snacks around €4.50. No entertainment at hotel. We sat on the terrace after evening meal and just watched the world go by. It's a good 40 mins walk into town but there is a bus stop directly across the road (€3). The walk is along the lake and there are plenty of little bars to stop at on your way. The lake was very busy with all kinds of water sports if you wish to participate or just watch. Town it's self was beautiful, lots of shops and bars on small cobbled streets, again not over priced. My partner played golf one day on the other side of the lake. We took a quick boat going there but a slow one coming back. Amazing views, well worth the €25. We booked a trip to Venice though our rep €80 each. Picked up by coach outside hotel, fantastic tour guide and bus driver. Took 2 and half hours to get there. The time went so fast looking at the views and listening to the history and stories by the tour guide. I did read that you could go on the bus from the bus station for €30 plus another €10 for the water bus in, but we were nervous about going alone and we wouldn't have had all the great stories told. When we got into Venice the tour guide walks you into St Marks square then you are left for 4 hours unless you booked more tours with him. Eg gondola €80 each!) lunch (€15) water bus around the islands (€30). We opted for that and we loved it. In Venice it's self it was very hot and busy. Reasonable food and drinks prices down the back streets, dearer on the front and in St Marks square. I would like to go back to Venice again but not in the summer!!! Overall we had a fabulous holiday, I would defiantly recommend the hotel Astoria and Lake Garda. Collapse

This was our second visit and had a room with a lake view. Although the road outside is a little noisy the view is stunning. If you want a quiet room ask for a pool view which also has a lovely view of the mountains at the rear of the hotel. This hotel is ideal for a relaxing holiday. The pool and poolside is immaculately kept and there is a well stocked pool bar for daytime drinks and snacks. The staff are friendly and the rooms are kept clean to a high standard. Although a little remote there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and a bus which takes you into the town. If you care to walk it it takes about 30 minutes. Collapse
