My girlfriend and I stayed at smart aston court for three nights, having never been to derby. The hotel was very easy to find being opposite the train station and was only about a 8 minute walk from the town centre. I was worried that staying at a hotel near the train station may be noisy but we experienced a quiet atmosphere which was great. Westfield is great, it took us two days to fully experience the variety of shops and i'd happily visit it again. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet was very nice. Hotel price was also very reasonable and would highly recommend. Collapse

Lovely hotel, great staff who always said "Good Morning" or "Hello" everytime you walked past. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable! Ideal location for the railway station and its a 10minute walk into the city centre, or you have the choice of a frequent bus service for a good price into the city too. Collapse

What a fantastic hotel! All the staff are really friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and had the biggest bed I have ever seen (room 210, The Duke Suite). Everywhere was extremely clean and tidy. The function room looked amazing fit the wedding reception we were attending and the breakfast in the morning was exactly what we needed after a few drinks the night before. I would most definitely recommend staying here Collapse

Pretty first time place in this hotel and got a warm welcome as usual. Look very excellent stay it is... So could be a best of this hotel is it, when we wished. How this is very dispointed old elevator not working! How can helps carry up stairs affect walk up affect pain right leg up?! 2 people advance to me carry up to first floor at last it. I hope they elevator will fix-it... Sadly, they've found the notice on the black book on the table... 'Elevator is out of order until further notice!' What a big disappointed is it. So I stay for 2nights and enjoy the hobbies, I went to Nottingham for shopping and visit art gallery and Chinese restaurant. We had a fantastic time this week. From check in to check out, I think a little fault the service or the hotel. Of course is a problem elevator is not works well. Bathroom quite luxury and clean, bed is very comfort to sleep. But is night time was bad behaviour out there noise the car past away from this hotel late in the morning, because of car is so loud roaring away from it!!! Anyway, finally is the last day I've got picking things out and then went checking clear off fine. So now... How go back out of here, when I checkout for last day today?!... I do try pull myself down stairs with heavy suitcases... Pretty terrible time way goes on! How awful do this elevator not working it is... All staff are attentive and professional. We had the Aston Court Hotel and loved it!! We will be back and soon. Thank you for Aston Court Hotel in thought, is lovely hot sunshine and very enjoyable holiday! WOW!!! ^_^ Collapse

We booked a 2 night stay as we were attending the Bloodstock festival, and only had 2 day tickets, so we couldn't camp. We found the hotel and car park really easily, even if the car park did look like an industrial warehouse yard. Upon first impressions we were pleasantly surprised. Very nice reception and bar area. And we were greeted by a very polite lady on reception. But unfortunately, this is where the good points stop. When we entered the room, (212, I beleive), we immediately noticed the thread bare carpets, mismatched decor and dated furniture. But, we are in our early 20s, were spending most of our time at a festival so this didn't bother us too much. We were eager to get to the festival, so we went for a quick shower to freshen up, after our 5 hour car journey from South Wales, we both needed one. There was long black hairs on the bathroom floor, 'short' black hair on the toilet seat, and mould along around 80% of the entire circumference of the corner of the bathroom ceiling. Once in the shower, we were blasted by what felt like jets of water. The water came out of the shower head like tiny little pin head jets, actually started to hurt a little, and even when turning the taps to a lower pressure, it was still uncomfortable to shower with. When we returned from the 1st day of the festival, around midnight (the same day as we drove up), we were shattered. And we had had a few drinks, so expected (hoped) to fall straight asleep. But the room was so hot it was unbearable. We tried sleeping with out the quilt, but still far too hot. Which is when we opened the window. This did help to cool the room a little, but the room was still uncomfortably hot. We then soon discovered that our room must have been near a pedestrian crossing, as ALL NIGHT, the traffic signals were beeping. Not constantly. But often enough that it prevented us from sleeping comfortably, we got about 3 hours in total. So the next morning (after being woken by slamming doors, and disturbed by housekeeping) we looked out of the window, and realised we were directly above the pedestrian crossing. So we went and asked at reception to see if we could change rooms, and explained this was due to poor hygeine/cleaning, overly hot room with no air conditioning, and being kept up by the traffic signals sounding all night. Unfortunately the lady at reception said there were no other rooms available. Which seemed strange to us, as there wasn't many cars in the carpark during the day, or upon returning late at night, after our days at the festival. Nothing at all was done to rectify this, and our complaint were just brushed off with a quick 'sorry'. And for these reasons, if we ever visit Derby again, we are very, very unlikely to stay here again. Collapse
